Why in the name of all-that-was-holy she had agreed to this 'night out' idea was completely beyond her. Amyla, not having had a night out since long before Kari's arrival several years before, had been coerced-- oh, no... that wasn't quite a strong enough word-- into this outing by Aiodhan. She reasoned that since fidelity wasn't exactly a problem between the two of them, he anticipated that she'd return quite worked up and too excited to sleep. In actuality, he was likely correct, but then again, since Amyla hadn't really had a night out on the town since... well, ever... she didn't really know what to expect.

It had made her very nervous, though, at the suggestion that Licen's two preteens watch Yana for the evening. She had come up with every excuse in the book, and every single one had been artfully destroyed. Really, there was no excuse. Besides, she had to get Yana out and communicating somehow, and if a trial by fire was necessary, then she would just have to pray that her toddler would forgive her later.

In all fairness, Yana looked fairly nonchalant about the entire thing. Amyla had expected her to become more skittish as time went on, but if anything, the girl became bolder. Granted, she was still quite cautious, but she wasn't the frightened baby she used to be. Now, striding up to Licen's front door beside her mother, wearing her backpack and clutching her purple stuffed duck, the little girl was the epitome of calm.

If only I was that sure of this... Amyla thought as she knocked on the door.

There was a shout from the door, the words muffled. Another shout responds, this one clearer, "Okay!" Seconds later the door opens and Gregory stands there, wearing his usual dress shirt and black slacks, "Miss Amyla! You made it." He beams happily at her and opens the door more, letting the two enter. He turns slightly to the side as he did and hollers down the hallways, "Mom! It's Miss Amyla and Yana! Richard, get down here!" He turns back to the two and shuts the door behind them, "It's nice to see you, by the way."

Feeling more than a little self-conscious in her mildly less formal outfit, Amyla gently ushered Yana inside. "Nice to see you as well, Gregory," she replied, eyeing his unusually dressy attire. Strange. Or maybe it just seemed that way to her, considering that none of her various offspring had any inclination to dress nicely on a regular basis. Was it too much to ask for one child with a sense of fashion?!

Apparently so.

Yana, dressed comfortably and ready to play, tipped her head back to look at Gregory, scrunching up her nose and squinting to peer into his face. He looked nice enough. After a gentle nudge from her mother, she remembered that she was supposed to give a greeting of sorts. She gave the older boy a small wave and a carefully-annunciated, "Heeeeellllloohhh."

Gregory looks down at Yana and grins happily, his mismatched eyes lighting up instantly, "Hello there, Yana."

Richard comes down the stairs wearing his own usual attire; black and punkish, his hair pulled back into a loose ponytail, his own mismatched eyes looking annoyed.

Licen also comes down the stairs, his clothes tuned into his brightly colored skin. He beams happily at Amyla as he walks up, his pants hugging his hips comfortably, the belt studded, and his shirt a loose black tank top. "Ready to go party?" He asks cheerfully.

"As ready as I'm ever going to be," Amyla admitted to Licen with a bit of a sheepish grin. Her comfortable black pants hugged her form just enough to be noticeable, a mildly vain concession on her part. Aiodhan had practically forced her into the sleeveless blue V-neck, and she was carrying her black jacket over one arm. Her mate was looking forward to her return later; that much he had made clear.

She glanced over at the boys. "Thank you for volunteering to watch her. Any last minute questions?" she asked, feeling more nervous by the moment.

Yana got the gist of whatever Gregory had said, and she smiled up at him, brushing her slightly wild brown hair from her eyes. She looked curiously up at Richard and then up at her mother. When Amyla simply signed, 'Be good. Have fun,' she understood that the two boys were to temporarily take over the position of authority. Very well. She could handle that... right?

"The boys will take good care of her. Don't worry, Amyla. I have wards on the house that will protect them. And if it does come down to something, my mother will be here in a flash." he smiles softly at the worried mother, patting her on the shoulder and stepping outside, "Your car or mine?"

Gregory shakes his head at Amyla, knowing pretty much all the rules of babysitting and such. He was good at keeping kids under control and all.....especially Richard.

Richard yawns lazily and wanders off, disappearing into the living room. The tv turns on a moment later, sounds of cartoons drifting through the house.

"Oh, it wasn't outside forces I was worrying about," Amyla replied, giving Yana one last smile before stepping outside. Really, there was nothing to worry about. She was just being irrational and flighty, she supposed At Licen's question, she smirked and flashed her keys, gesturing at her silver sedan. "Mine."

Yana watched as Richard wandered off. She faintly heard some new sounds in that direction, but she shrugged it off. Nothing important, likely. She turned her gaze back up to Gregory and then tilted her head to one side with a curious expression, as if to say... 'What now?'

"Your's it is." Licen laughs and walks to the sedan with her. "Nice car....though not as sportsy as I like them." He grins and points to the car sitting in the driveway. It was a convertable, newer model, and was red with golden flames curling around it.

Gregory shakes his head at this brothers' actions, knowing that was exactly what he was like. He grins down at the little girl, "I dunno. What do you wanna do?"

Amyla snorted and viewed the convertible with a biased eye. "I call that 'flashy'," she chuckled mirthlessly. "Those are usually the kind of cars that my patients drive before they end up in my ER. A lot of them are lucky if they drive at all after that," she added as she unlocked the sedan and slid behind the wheel.

Gregory's voice was an unintelligible murmur to Yana's ears, and the girl blinked a few times. Whatever he said was a question, judging by the look of inquiry on his face. He had just asked her something. What that was, she had no clue, so she just shrugged and looked appropriately bewildered.

Licen laughs, "True, but I only take the darling out for single rides. And I've taken proffesional driving lessons. I had a lot of free time before the Twins were created." he smiles softly and gets in on the passenger side, buckling himself in.

Gregory chuckles and takes her hand, "How's about something to snack on? Then we can go bug Richie." he said the second part louder than need be, just for the older twins humor.

Richard growls from his seat but doesn't move, eyes locked onto the screen.

"Kids do tend to take up a lot of time," Amyla acknowledged as she turned the key in the ignition and put the car in gear. A few moments later, they were clipping along at a nice speed down the road. "Where exactly are we going anyway?"

Yana faintly heard the word 'snack' amongst the jumble of sounds, and she grinned, squeezing Gregory's hand and nodding in understanding. Snacks were good. She liked those. Her other hand still clutched her purple duck, and she glanced in the direction the other twin had disappeared to out of pure curiosity.

"Heh, true. But the boys are a wonderful help now." He smiles happily and glances at Amyla, "It's a club owned by a close friend of mine. My uncle's a dancer there. It's called the Night Demon, great place. Lots of other anthros there too." He gives her directions to the club.

Gregory smiles and leads the girl to the kitchen, picking her up and sitting her on the little island that was in the center of the kitchen, "What do you like? We have all sorts of stuff." He spoke a little louder this time, having noticed her little problem in a way.

Richard lounged on the couch, the living room visible from the kitchen, the remote in his hand as he flipped through the channels.

"Sometimes I wish mine would grow up that quickly. And then sometimes I'm grateful they don't," Amyla chuckled wryly, Kayce and Dageus foremost on her mind. She raised an eyebrow but followed his directions, giving him a sidelong look. "I'll feel a bit out of place, then. Do you go there often?"

Yana toddled along happily beside Gregory, carefully depositing her backpack on the floor before he set her up on the little island. She held her duck in both hands and watched his face carefully, able to discern most of what he said between the increased volume and the movement of his lips. She instantly put her hand to her cheek and made the sign for 'fruit' before belatedly realizing that he likely didn't sign. Oh dear. That word was not included within the small vocabulary she actually could say aloud. Now what?!

"Oh, they'll get there soon enough." He chuckles softly, nodding a little, "And yes, every moment I can get away from the Twins I head down here. You'll love it. It's got a wide mix of just about every breed possible of anthros. Just the other week I met a hybrid mix of a dragon and angel. She was beautiful."

Gregory tilts his head curiously, his bangs falling into his eyes and his ears flicking forward. Well then, this was new. He looked around and picked up a piece of paper and a pencil. He hands it to the little girl and smiles, "Draw it for me."

Amyla gave a mock-groan. "Don't say that. A few of them are going to be absolute nightmares once they become teenagers," she exclaimed. She really wasn't looking forward to adding out-of-control hormones and stronger physiques to her already-troubled children. Oh, that was going to be awful! "Dragon and angel? Interesting combination. Somehow, I'm thankful Aiodhan isn't a stranger mix than he is," she chuckled, glancing at her surroundings. "What does this building look like?"

Yana saw his lips move, and she recognized the word 'draw'. Draw? She didn't have to draw; this was a word she could write. She carefully set the paper down beside her on the counter and wrote F-R-U-I-T in capital letters. While she could spell and write (and sign) the word, she could not say it. She pointed at the word and then at her own mouth, giving Gregory a quizzical look.
