There is more than one video game store in Auckland, thankgod as i am no longer a EB Games customer. Most of the times when i go there i get asked by one of the sale assistants "so what game are you looking for for your brother" and when i tell him that i play games they say "i got the PERFECT game for you" and then hand me a game with barbie on it.

Only a few times i actually got asked "what type of game are you looking for as i may be able to help you find one"

Oh and then there was this time when i got Shadow Hearts Covenant (second hand), payed for it and then came home, put it in my PS2 only to find that i would have to pay a extra ten bucks to get both CD's scratch free when they told me that it was when i got it X_X (well it was scratched but not enough to ruin it i got told)

So what are your video game store stories?

Whenever Im in one I usualy strike up a genuinely inteligent game conversation with the clerks, and then all the akward pre teen fan boys in the store think they are far superior in their knowledge and try to butt in. Its really annoying actually, Im almost embarassed for them.

I work in one. I like talking to my coworkers and customers about gaming and no one challenges my intelligence or skill because of my gender.

Every time a clerk has trouble with a game I give 'em simple advice and ask me why aren't I working with them, I tell them there Manager's cheap.

I remember this one time that my older sister & me went into gamestop to get Jak 3 & the clerk (Which was a guy.) came up & asked,"May I help with anything?" I said,"Yeah do have Jak 3 by Naughty Dog?" the clerk says,"Yes,is it for your brother?" Well my sis says,"No,it's for our 2 year old cousin. We don't have a brother,it's for us." I said,"Here's a news flash for you sir, girls play video games, & we can kick butt at it too." The clerk went bright cherry-red & showed us were the games & left us alone after that. I heart being a girl!

I've got two stores I go to and they both have different purposes.
I go to GameStop for trading in and buying games. I think the manager there likes me or something cuz he always stops me and talks to me about everything and he's always giving me deals and saves me money. He's sweet.
The other one is a family owned place called GameOn. They sell only used and vintage games, but everyone goes there for one reason. They have four 50 inch DLP tvs and you can play anything they have in the store for $5 an hour. I get discounts beause they support our video game club at school. I started my WoW account there cuz they have an internet connection and one employee came up and asked if I was just starting. I told him yeah, then he announced to the whole store "This chick's getting her WoW cherry popped!" redface But he is always helping me on WoW and gives me good places to shop for electronic stuff. All the employees are really nice there. I ussally have to duck cuz they throw things and snpa hornets at each other during late hours.

I usually get treated pretty normal by video game clerks, and sometimes they're shocked that i know so much about world of warcraft or other games

when i tell people of my two level 60s in wow in all their epics they're like "omg no way" so goes my fame for 60 seconds till it dies

what was really fun was down at the local game exchange they have this thing see.... One of the clerks was a chapion at the international street fighter tournament a few years ago, anyone who can beat him gets a free rental.

Well, once appon a time me and my friends were oogleing over a new game :: final fantacy ninja :: And so, being poor teenagers as we are my friend took a round with him... lets just say good ol' arcade games will do a lot for you.... lol

I always go to Game Stop with my guy friends and I hadn't had a problem about asking if they have a game that I wanted. They wouldn't ask if it was for my brother or something on those lines, but sadly my luck ran out when the sales clerk asked if it was for my brother. I replied that is was for me because my brother doesn't like to play any kind of games. So the guy said he was sorry for assuming that it was for my brother. I wasn't mad or anything, I just don't like when they asume its for a guy.

I've not had any such problems with Game store clerks, since I don't usually give them much chance to help me. I usually know what I'm looking for when I go in, and where to find it, so I just make a beeline to the section I want and stay there smile I don't think I've ever had any comments about my being a girl, although that could be helped along by my short hair and my GAME reward card being registered as 'Mr' (darn them for not realising my dad was registering it for me! You'd think they'd have guessed from the girl's name!)

Actually, only time I remember being asked if I wanted any help was when I had my white cane, but that time I was only browsing so they were out of luck again, hehe.

Ya know... I don't think I've ever had a problem with a video game clerk assuming the game I was buying was for some guy. *ponders* I guess I'm just lucky, ne.

They always try to help me. As in, "You don't know what you're looking for, do you?" I know I'm hawt, but gosh! I'm not that much of a girly-girl!

Barbies melt. They were one of my favorite toys as a kid, along with my magnifying glass and air rifle heart My sister bought a barbie game on recommendation of a clerk, and returned it later and bought FFX. I'm so proud of her blaugh

I've never had trouble with sales clerks and my gender. I always know what I want and pick it up right away. I've had a few time where they ask me "Do you need help?" I think I freak them out when I say no, just by the look on their faces.

I seriously think I cannot get a job at this game place because I am a girl and I haven't gone in there showing off some cleavage or wearing a short skirt. Really.

I'm qualified! They just hired this dude that goes moves slower then a snail and they won't hire me? xp

Other then that I never got problems because of my gender. surprised
