Fresh Thread of the RP since the other one was filled with other stuff.

Gumshoe will brief the public about the scene of the crime.

If there are any witnesses of the murder, please come foward for the sake of justice at any time.

EDIT:

Because of two stray post, I'll explain what's going on to those new.
We are having an RP where we are going to play our role to the fullest. There is none of that "cooperate and make it work" stuff. The prosecutors will try to get the guilty verdict. Phoenix will try get his client innocent. The killer will try his or her best to create the "perfect story." The defendant may or may NOT be innocent. Gumshoe (whom we have) and the Judge will have the power to control the scenes and evidence present that everyone has to work with.

The winner of the case will get a minor prize as a incentive, as do the witness that has a flawless testimony (good luck with that), and the killer that puts the blame on someone else (sad ending... D=), and the defendant that goes free (apology money, like Butz =D).

PM me the roles you want should you join, unfortunately Phoenix and the defendant are unavailable.

Current Roles Taken:

Phoenix- Marushka_Nev

Edgeworth (supporting or prosecutor is in question at the moment)-Benjamin Hunter

Maya-HikariHuna

Judge- Queen Zeal

Gumshoe-Jenx

Defendant: Pinky Black- Princess Peach

Witness #1: Regina Berry (we can have one more returning witness, but we need fresh "blood")- ...herself...

Witness #2: Derek Stiles- me

((EDIT: I'm a lazy b*****d so I'm doing a direct copy/paste. xd Kthxbai.
I'm flying a bit blind here cause I've never done an untraditional RP like this, so bear with me. Yell at me if you need to.))

d**k Gumshoe was having a bad day.
He knew he was having a bad day because his alarm clock broke and he got to work an hour late. He knew he was having a bad day because when he got to work an hour late, he found an anonymous note warning him that Franzisca was back. But mostly, he knew he was having a bad day because he was in front of lights and cameras and had no clue what was going on.

He had barely stepped out of the patrol car with his coffee mug when the chief grabbed him by the shoulders.
"Liam O'Grady, hung, 5:30 AM, Pinky Black, now-GO!!"
The chief's last words mooshed together as he threw Gumshoe to the angry sea of media and escaped back behind the yellow police line.
"Wh- woah!" Gumshoe called at his retreating figure. "Who's who? What's what? Where's... hey!"
It was too, late, of course. The playground was full of investigators, and the chief had already busied himself talking to a few. Gumshoe narrowed his eyes, trying to examine the scene and make sense of what the chief had told him. The most labels were around the tree, but all he could see of the corpse was a black shoe poking from under a sheet.

"Excuse me, Detective?" a woman was asking, shoving a microphone at the back of his head. "I'm Cecelia Howard from Channel 8 news, and I was wondering if you could-"
"-victim was the long-lost lesbian daughter of Tom Cruise," a man said. "Can you confirm-"
"-the chain around his neck and planted the rope as a red herring-"
"There were no fish involved in this case," Gumshoe assured the last reporter in his most official-sounding tone, straightening his tie. He figured that was a safe assumption to make, and it was as good a question to start with as any. "I'm not, er, at liberty to tell you much, but I can say with confidence that there were no fish and the victim is not Tom Cruise's lesbian daughter."
"So who was the victim?" someone at the back of the crowd yelled. Gumshoe inched backwards away from a particularly intrusive mic and tried to remember what the chief had said.
"Uhm... Larry O'Grady?" Oh damn, that couldn't be a question- he was dealing with the press here. He had to be decisive! "Larry O'Grady!" he repeated, grinning and crossing his arms. "He was hung from the tree at 5:30 this morning, and right now our prime suspect is Pinky Black. Our men are tracking her right now, and I expect an arrest by noon."
Good. That sounded pretty good.
"Hung from the tree?" Cecelia Howard asked, pressing the microphone to his necktie. "How do you know it's not suicide?"
"Because. Um." (It was, at least, a decisive and official-sounding 'um'.) "The thing is, the rope..." Brain, brain, brain... "I mean, our forensics team..." Well hell. "...I'm not at liberty to tell you yet, pals," he said, rubbing the back of his neck and beating a hasty retreat over the police line. "More information as the case progresses! No further questions! Or whatever you guys say... whew." He leaned against the yellow slide, catching his breath. That was a close one.

((And, um... Thanks to Yorua for beta-ing the post. I had crazy writer's block. Dont worry though, I'm not telling him any more than I'm telling everyone else! He just helped my writing. Oh, and the playground is set up like this. The tree is off to the left.))

Regina Berry

PostPosted: Sun Feb 18, 2007 12:22 am

Regina felt awkward doing so, but she convinced herself that she would do the right thing. She had learned many harsh lessons since her father's death, and if anything, she felt that what she was doing would be the right thing. Even if it meant incriminating her.

Regina made her way to the Police Station, tightly holding her wand out of being nervous, while scared at the same time. She witnessed how pressing men and women of the law were to witnesses and suspects firsthand when she witnessed Max's case a while back. But she told herself over and over that she was in the right.

After she opened the Police Station's door, the busy room around her grew to a silence. Out of habit, Regina gave a bashful smile.

"Can I speak to a police officer please?"

The men ran approached her in a daze.

"I'll help you!"
"No, I saw her first!"
"How can I be of service to you, miss?"

Regina didn't know if she should be shy or embarrassed by the situation, as she was dead serious about doing the right thing. It was one thing her father always stressed upon her. Be a good person to others, and do what you always believe is the right thing. 'For that's what makes a good person.'

Phoenix arrived late at his office that morning. Not like it mattered anyway, since business hasn't been demanding. Despite the miracles he's pulled off before, he was still considered a rookie lawyer.

Wright and Co Law Offices ~9:14 AM~

Phoenix dropped his practically empty suitcase upon the office table, kicked his shoes off by the side of the couch, and fell unto the couch to get some more shut eye. He made sure the phone was set to its loudest ring, just in case someone called while he was sleeping.

When Pinky Black awoke she only realized the nightmare had just begun…

It was sometime in the afternoon when she opened her emerald eyes. Pinky gently pushed herself into a sitting position, her bright pink hair falling down into her face. She glanced at her surroundings, unforgiving gray walls, a toilet and sink in one corner, a bunk above her, and metal bars. Bars?! She cradled her head in her hands as the memories came flashing back.

Leaving the apartment complex.

The playground

Her anger and frustration.

A man hung from a tree.

Her uncontrollable tears.

Liam.

The cops arresting her.

Darkness.

Her mind wept with the images and yet she still couldn’t piece everything together. She was in jail and no idea why. She was all alone, there was no one to explain anything to her. Being an A+ science student she knew she should stay calm and think things over logically. But at the moment logic was the farthest thing from Pinky Black. She broke down, and salty tears once again tasted her flushed cheeks.

Wright and Co Law Offices ~10:25am~

Phoenix continues to snore as he's now lying on his stomach, half hanging off the couch.

Wright and Co Law Offices ~11:20am~

Phoenix falls off the couch when having a dream that consisted him of running from five larger than life gavels pounding away behind him. Phoenix decides to flip on the tv to catch the news.

Wright and Co Law Offices ~11:52am~

Phoenix was just about to head out for a bite to eat, when a news reporter begins talking about a suspected murder in the playground.

"Pinky Black...Pinky Black...where have I heard that name before?" He thought about shrugging it off, but something in his gut told him that something was amiss with the story.

"This is one hell of a hunch, but perhaps I should check things out. If she's who I think she is, then maybe I got myself another case..."

He left the office and made sure to lock up. He decided to save time, as well as to not neglect his stomach, he'd stop by the burger joint that Maya used to rave about, and eat while he took a walk to the detention center.

"Maya, I wonder what you're up to. Is training getting vigorous again?"

Detention Center ~12:12pm~

Phoenix asked to see Pinky Brain, and now he waits for her to show up.

Wright and Co Law Offices ~12:20pm~

Though once vacant, the law offices of a certain Ace Attorney were soon witness to thundering footsteps and a familiar (yet loud) voice:

NiiiiiiiiiIIIIIIIIICK!!!!!!

...and Mystic Maya burst in the room.

"I'MSORRYI'MSOLATENICK....!!!"

Huffing, Maya scanned the room for any sign of a spiky-haired DA, but found only a severely wrinkled couch...
She gasps, as she could come to only one conclusion: "OMIGOSHNICKWASKIDNAPPED!!!! The days have been too slow for him to have a case NOW! AHHHHH!!!"

And the Kurain Hurricane proceeded to tear out of the room, headed straight for the Police Department.

Pinky had just finished wiping her sad eyes when she heard a sound at the door. It was another police man, opening up the cell bars. It had been one thing after another. Pinky’s mind was whirling; it hadn’t been given a chance to rest. What did they want now? Wasn’t being in a holding cell enough for them? There was no logic, no reason, for them to be keeping her caged like a rat in some science experiment.

The policeman stepped inside, and spoke with a gruff voice. “Come on now. Stop dilly-dallying. Let’s go.”

Frightened, Pinky reluctantly got up from the bunk bed. “Where are you taking me?”

Normally, the policeman was not supposed to answer or talk to any of the prisoners, but the sad, lost look in her eyes changed his mind, just this once. “You are going to see a lawyer.”

“A lawyer?” Pinky whispered to herself. “If they got me a lawyer I must be in really big trouble.”

“No more talking,” The policeman’s husky voice rang throughout the cell.

With nothing left to say, Pinky Black followed her escort out of the cell and into a smaller room. The room itself was split in two by a glass wall. On the other side of the glass, sat a man clad in a blue suit, spiky coal hair, and funny eyebrows. Pinky deducted that that must be her lawyer. She was instructed to go sit and talk with the man while the policeman would stay guard, pinky did just that. As she sat, Pinky’s emerald eyes met with her lawyer’s for the first time. “Hi.”

Phoenix wasn't quite sure that what he suspected to be true, but now that he saw her, he knew it from his gut that she was innocent. He couldn't explain how, but he felt it that she wouldn't commit such a murder in such a place. But, he still felt he needed to hear her story before becoming her lawyer.

He slammed his hands upon the counter.

"I knew it! You were one of my classmates back in college! A name like Pinky Black isn't one someone comes across everyday. My name is Phoenix Wright. You might not remember me, but I was your classmate in a Biology course. But anyway, I came here to hear your side of the story; the suspected murder of Larry O'Grady. Can you tell me what you were doing at around 5:30am this morning?"
PostPosted: Wed Feb 28, 2007 12:04 pm

The slamming of fists on wood resonated through her ears. Pinky jumped in her seat, startled from the outburst. He had told her his name. “Phoenix...” The name rolled off her tongue like morning dew of grass. “Phoenix Wright.” The name lingered to the depths of her mind. She had heard that name before, was it biology class? Pinky had taken a lot of biology classes. But still, he did look rather familiar. “I think I remember you. You always sat in back right? You didn’t do to well in that class did you.” Pinky giggled, for the first time in hours she felt like herself. “Remember how they always passed around my homework for everyone else to copy off of? Yeh, if I wasn’t there I don’t think you’d’ve passed that class.”

The memories of early college soon left as the realization of prison strolled in. Her cheery voice turned to one of panic and fear. “Phoenix! You’ve gotta help me! I didn’t do it! I swear!” Tears began welling up in her eyes. “I don’t even know what happened… all I remember was leaving my apartment to go meet Liam at the playground.” But wait, Phoenix had said Larry, not Liam. Liam and Larry were brothers, both with carrot red hair, green eyes, and freckles all over. A lot of people thought they were twins too, but Liam was two years older than Larry. “Did you say Larry? I though Liam was dead.” All this confusion made Pinky’s head spin. Who was dead? Who was alive? Pinky couldn’t take it, she started crying again.

"Oh great, what'd you do this time?"

Maya was frustrated. She had just reached the police office only to be greeted by rolling eyes and exasperated sighs. There were more important things at hand!
She took a deep breath, and...
"PHOENIX WRIGHT'S BEEN KIDNAPPED!!"
...

Baffled at the silence, Maya screamed again, "WELL?! AREN'T YOU GUYS GOING TO DO SOMETHING??"
"...You do mean the same Phoenix Wright that's in the Detention Center right now? Hey, aren't you supposed to be with him?"

Maya was bright red.

"Well, yes, I did have a bit of a problem in that class." He then thought, "No wonder that name stuck with me well. Without a few glances at Pinky's homework, I wouldn't have passed with a C in that class"

But then he became serious again. "While Liam and Larry are similar sounding names, I'm pretty sure I heard Larry. But an almost identical brother? That makes this interesting, considering you said you were going to meet Liam." He was sure of that look of surprise on her face when she heard him say 'Larry'.

He gave a nod. "I believe you. I'll take the case!" It always surprised him how quickly he'd come to this conclusion that his client was and is innocent, but in this line of work with his strong sense of true justice, it was all he could believe in."
