Things have come a long way since PBEMs, BBS boards, and IRC.
(anyone else who remembers WBS, laugh now.. and then feel old)

There are recreational gamers.. kill some time, kill a few mobs, make some money.. no real direction, very casual.
There are roleplayers.. too many types of RP people to try and outline, however.
I'm not even sure what to call the people who put everything on hold for guild raids and whatnot, since that's not my bag, so I'm not calling them anything yet.

My question is this:
I suppose it has a lot to do with the imagination of the player, but when you're playing online, is it easier to get into the gameplay when you have a lot of graphics and eye-candy or a little.. or none at all?

For RP, I actually find that I prefer no imagery. It's easier to get a feel for the characters I'm interacting with if I can imagine what they look like myself. It's also a personal joy to see someone who can come up with a well-written character description, but that's beside the point.

What do y'all think?
