Change was coming.

The stallion could feel it within the forests, the rivers and even the air tingled with anticipation. As he drifted across the open and unobstructed expanse of the sky, a small smile lingered on his lips and he shifted briefly to ensure that he remained on the currents. It had been a long time since he had last experienced the delicate caress of a warm breeze and now, these gusts embraced him more frequently than he could have expected.

Spring was coming!

The very thought made his skin tingle and his smile grew. It was in spring that the colour began to appear on the trees again, in the meadows and thus, it was a time when he felt he fit in a little more - where he didn't stand out like a single flame in a patch of white, barren land.

Nevertheless, as he once again adjusted his direction he caught sight of his chosen location and prepared himself to land. He didn't have an exact flight path, but he could see an opening of reasonably flat land nearby the lake and therefore he was going to take a chance.

...He just hoped no one would be there to see him if he messed up, falling or stumbling was terribly undignified!

A shadow fell across Lovey and she looked up into the sky, a golden stallion was... flying? Shaking her head in disbelief she began to canter slowly, following behind him as he began to fly lower and lower.. it dawned on her that he was landing. "Oh... such golds and reds.."

Shaking her mane of the wetness that had leaked into it, the snow that had once sat on her mane and glistened was now melting and making her feel the coldness even as the sun tried to warm the land.

Ahh.. my least favorite time of the year... when the world reawakened and with it came mildes upon miles of mud, Lovey thought with a bit of a reful smile on her face. Snorting and still cantering and following the stallion she waited to see his landing... Her mane flew back behind her like a large blue and purple banner whipping in the wind, flying several feet past her rump.

He never had been one to time his landings as finely as his kin, rather, he had spent much of his time surviving on adrenaline rushes. As a foal he had enjoyed free-falling from the sky, his mother had never appreciated it but he had to admit that his insanity as a child had proved beneficial. If he was entirely honest, all his risk taking had only served to hone his senses and more importantly to the point where he could quite literally slam to a halt mere inches from an individual.

...That wasn't to say that he was quite so good when talking. As agile as he might have been while moving, he most certainly was not the most empathic of individuals - there were just some things he couldn't understand.

Nevertheless, as he shot down from the sky in a bullet-like fashion he did take note of a flit of colour just in his peripheral vision and grit his teeth. If anything he hoped that they stayed behind him while he performed his next move...a move that would ultimately force him to come to a halt in mid-air and then he would unceremoniously drop to the ground.

As he drew perilously near the ground though, there was little more he could do other than to hope that the individual was more intelligent than most and thus, with a grunt of effort he unfurled his wings to their full extend and caught himself in a back draft. The result of this was not only to stop him mid-air but it also served to throw him backwards slightly until he appeared to be "rearing".

Time seemed to hang for him (despite only being a few seconds), the wind billowing and brushing against his flight feathers until at last he dropped with a thump (hind legs first) to the earth and gave a slight shudder, the long grasses encroaching on his personal space.

Blinking carefully Lovey slowed her pace from a canter, to a trot, and from there she just stopped, watching the stallion as he seemed to be dive-bombing the earth. Watching him in fascination as he plummeted, her mouth almost hanging open in surprise. Lovey nearly flinched right around the time his rainbow-feathered wings shot open and he stopped all flight. Carefully Lovey began to walk towards him, as he came fully onto the ground, his backlegs then front until he stood fully on all four legs. "Oh my..." mumbling to herself as she edged closer to him not sure if he wanted company..

Curiosity drove her on though and she pranced forward, letting her mane bob, purposely getting it to move up and down in an attempt to dry the wetness out of it, "Silly snow..." Lovey edged closer, prancing a half cirle well behind him so she didn't approach him from behind. She had found that none too many stallions or mares for that matter really enjoyed being surprised like that.

He was an exquisitely colored creature she realized the closer she got to him, golds, reds, and rainbow-like wings blent together... He perhaps even matched her own prettiness. Chuckling at her vanity she shook her mane and made her appearance obvious, "Hello..."

Having seen her from the air, Grencia didn't flinch in surprise a the mare once again appeared in his peripheral vision. To be entirely honest, he had expected her to appear at some point as he seemed to attract a lot of attention in these parts. Not that he minded, he rather enjoyed the company more than his own confused and incomprehensible thoughts.

"Good morning." Shifting slightly, the stallion gave his body an almighty shake to remove the dew from his coat and then thrust his wings outwards once more. It wasn't that he was attempting to show off, but his inner fire simply couldn't warm them up particularly quickly and it was easier to allow them to bask in the sun.

Still, to avoid being completely rude the stallion did swing round and cocked his head to the side as he assessed the pastel coloured mare. Admittedly, her coloured were simplistic and subtle but within it there was a certain beauty that he could appreciate - there were so many soquili mares who possessed that quality here.

"I see I am not the only one awake so early in the morn..."

His calm acceptance of her presence settled Lovey down, she'd gotten varying reactions from stallions and was a bit wary of some of them. Her hair tended to make her seem slower, naive, or easy to most all of the stallions she had had the pleasure or displeasure to meet.

"Good morning to you, sir." Bobbing her head in her usual fashion and coming up with a quick hair flip to get a few errant pieces of hair out of her eyes, looking him over and stepping back slightly when the dew of his coat shot into the air, surprising her with it's coldness. Returning the favor Lovey shook her coat out with just as much force as he had used, returning much of the water that he had gotten on her in the tiny cold droplet form.

Feeling his eyes assess her Lovey knew she would soon know if he was different from other stallions, on the make, or simply not interested. She was hoping to gather friends in these lands but if he was disinterested she would keep moving and exploring.

"No, it would appear there are two of us that keep early hours.. although I must admit while I'm awake, I'm not so vigorous in my early morning activities as to try.. flying."

A small smile tickled at the lips of the stallion and threatened to spring to life but his self control was enough to restrain it. It wasn't that he didn't like showing emotion, but smiling at such a ridiculous thing might have insulted her if, like some mares, she was saying such things in a serious manner. And so, it was of no surprise that he cleared his throat and used his wing to brush a few droplets from his shoulder before responding to her comment.

"Indeed."

It was such a simple phrase, but he really wasn't sure whether or not it was appropriate to point out that she had no wings, unless of course he was...

"I beg your pardon m'lady, and I mean no disrespect, but unless I am losing my eyesight in my old age I am fairly certain that you lack the limbs to attempt such a feat..." He mused, his tone jesting as he flicked his gaze towards the mountain slopes and the cliff faces thoughtfully.

"Unless of course, you were of the sort who would tempt fate by seeing if the spirits provide you with some - which really..." He paused and shook his head, "Is not something I would advise." He mused before cocking his head to the side once more.

"And I thank you for the shower, it is rather refreshing after a long flight."

Lovey grinned up at the stallion, letting her softer side show for just a moment, "Sir, your eyesight is as strong as ever as far as I can tell. I'm afraid my wordings can oft be a bit stilly, I don't have the limbs necessary fly and I certainly wouldn't try to fly either." Pawing at the ground a bit, mulling of her her thoughts, she could see the bemused expression and he was trying to keep a smile or perhaps a laugh to himself, "You may laugh at my wording, sir, I simply meant I'm not so ambitious as to travel or put out the energy that would go into flying so early in the morning."

He probably thought her to be completely vapid and stupid. If he did? So what, she had better things to do than to hope the stallions she met fell at her feet in amazement.

"While tempting the fates can be fun and quite an addrenaline rush, I assure you that I've no need to meet my maker at my age."

Snorting softly at the remark about the shower, she dipped her head low in a bow of mock subserviance, "My aim is to please, sir" Looking up at him through the strands of blue and purple that had fallen into her eyes, letting him know she didn't mean a word of what she had said.

"Ah, an accommodating mare is a rare thing, I should savour this opportunity and request some breakfast." He paused for affect and offered a mild smile before shaking his head, "But I have a sneaking suspicion that I would be pushing my luck and would find myself face down in mud as opposed to chin high in berries." Clearing his throat, he unfurled his wings a little more and released a sigh as the heat began to ripple through his body once more, the process slow, but very much there.

"And I shall not laugh at your wording." He paused once again and shifted his weight somewhat so that the other side of his body was tilted a little more to the sun, "That would be impolite and I do not wish to offend one who has been so polite to me," Offering another of his sheepish smiles he flicked his gaze upwards briefly and blew the feathery whiskers from his face.

"Although if you must know, I find flying to be considerably more easy than galloping across vast plains, I can glide with little effort through the skies during certain times of the day." He motioned upwards towards the cloudless smile and sighed, "For you see, although invisible to the naked eye, there are spirits that shall grasp my wings and shall guide me through the air without a single flap of them - very peaceful experience."

"I'm hoping, sir that at your age, no insult intended of course, that you would be able to find and enjoy your own meals. Although, if that isn't the case I may be so bold as to point your direction.. towards the ground." Stomping her food for an effect of her own Lovey smiled, not being sarcastic so much as playing along with his little game. "Chin high in berries? Hmm... I'm afraid I'm not overly fond of berries especially since it seems all too possible to find some with a tainted taste or a certain bittness I don't find in the least appealing. Do you like things with a bitter-taste, sir?" Chuckling at her own ridiculousness Lovey tosses her head back, prancing slightly in melting morning. The sound of dripping trees and plants made her ears dance back and forth a bit, listening and she only half-heard his sigh but returned to paying attention to him with the flutter of his rainbow-wings, "Such wings, I'm sure they make you vain... because of course you know they're truly lovely."

"It's truly obliging of you not to laugh at my words, I'm afraid many do.. not that I give much care to them it's just much easier to make friends than it is to dislike people and ignore them. Shifting her weight just a bit, making her mane slide out of her face she sighed a bit herself, the heavy thing often distracted her but the water kept it slicked back even if it was chilly. She liked it when he smiled but it did not seem to be something he did very often, then too she liked it when everybody smiled but that wasn't really a point that was needed right now. Cocking her head sideways she just gazed at him for a moment, relaxed, not needing to talk.

With Lovey, silence was never long-lived, and soon enough she felt compelled to speak once again, "Spirits that grab onto your wings and fly you around? My.. if I had something like that I think it would be hard for me to ever come down to the ground. The earth would appear so beautiful from up in the sky, I imagine." Arching her neck a bit and looking up in the sky, losing focus for a minute and just looking up in the bright blue sky, hints of reds and purples still hung in the horizon as the sun made it's next round around the world. "But then galloping can be so satisfying.. the freedom that comes with it, no?"

"I am not a particularly fussy eater." He glanced down at the grass beneath his feet and chuckled a little at her curt reply before nodding, "I like both bitter and sweet foods but I am a self-confessed expert when it comes to locating the berries I am most partial to." He replied delicately as he shifted his weight from one foot to the other. Nevertheless, as the mare mentioned his wings again he cast a thoughtful glance towards them before giving a hapless shrug.

"Once, when I was a colt I used to think they were the most spectacular and beautiful of things." He confessed slowly, releasing a sigh and he returned his gaze to the mare, his expression somewhat grim. "And then I discovered that they were incredibly overrated." His tone completely flat he furled his wings more tightly against his sides and chuckled.

"Alas, I will be the first to admit that the land below my feet is a sight to behold from the air." He continued, changing the subject in the process. "But it can often be rather lonely when not accompanied by another with wings."

"I... like to think I'm a simple eater, rather than a picky one." Smiling in a self-deprecating manner, thinking of the very short list of foods she would or would not eat. "All well, I will make due with what I find, I've not starved yet." Pawing the ground and snorting, knowing she'd been eating more and moving less lately, but finding she didn't care overly much. Frowning slightly, she realized his wings weren't a source of pride and they appeared to be more of a pain to him.

"I didn't mean to upset you, sir.. Most stallions I've met enjoy feeding their egos with mentions of whatever I can find attractive about them... unfortunately, more often than not I find it hard to find anything of value to me." Shaking her head slowly, "Pretty is as pretty does... but damned if I don't meet ones that place all importance on looks." Frowning a bit, "I'm rambling..."

"Also, I too must admit that I've no clue what it's like to soar through the sky, but I take almost as much pleasure I imagine as you do in flying just in being able to run, let the ground blur and work my muscles up until the only thoughts possible are about keeping my muscles moving." Bobbing her head a bit, she finished her ramble, "Although I run alone more oft than I've company."

"A good answer and a graceful way of dodging such a terrible accusation." Smiling politely, the stallion graced her with an arch of his neck and canted his head to the side once more, "Although one might advise you to be careful during the winter, it is harder to find food at times." He added before releasing a sigh and moving towards her a little more - if only in an attempt to bridge the gap so that he didn't have to raise his voice quite so much.

"You did not upset me though, but one can only hear so many compliments about their feathered limbs before it loses its appeal I'm afraid." After a few moments, he drifted into silence again, a loose frown furrowing his handsome features for a team.

"I apologise profusely, but I am uncertain of your name?"

"I've always been talented with my tongue, I've a way of tap-dancing so to speak around words. It's a gift of course, unless I trip and fall on my words." Nodding back at him she arched her neck back at him and thought over his words, "Oh.. I'll never starve of that I'm sure when push comes to shove I can eat just about anything save for rocks." Watching him move closer, but holding her ground feeling no need to move towards him.

"I suppose so.. hearing about my mane has become a rather boring point of interest to me. I carry it with me at all times so I don't need to hear of it's "lovliness" or "weirdness" depending on one's views... "

"and I apologize to you, sir for my rudeness..." Bobbing her head once again, smirking slightly, "I'm Lovey Dovey, Lovey for short to those that I call friends... and you, sir?"
