So I was wondering, what is your favorite thing about Skip Beat? In essence, what makes you a fanatic like me? biggrin

What really grabbed me was how it is so different from the cliches of other shojo manga. When she found out Shotaro was talking behind her back, she didn't break down and cry. Some other sweet guy would come up and pick up the peices, and she would fall madly in love with him. All until Sho would come back for her and the whole thing turn into a love triangle.
But, no! She laughed and swore revenge. And meets another guy who is FAR from being a little sweetie. rofl
And dresses up in a chicken suit.

Yeah, I think the plot is really different from the usual, besides, we're not really sure what happened with her parents so that she practically grew up in Sho's inn... But I do like her inner demons xd So the poll is kinda hard... >> And of course, gotta love Ren and his hotness heart

I think the great thing about Skip beat! is just that it is so different from what im used to reading... I like the idea of a vengefull demon sprouting girl trying to extract revenge in a clearly brilliant manner... Most of the time revenge is just considered physical, but kyoko's idea will cause so much more damage that a few simple bruises and a restraining order... plus the characters are completly individualized but not so that it throws you away from them. To me they just make me feel comfortable.
or at least thats my reasoning.

Well I like teh plot and characters in general, and I find it hillarious. Besides that I liek how evil Kyoko can get, and how she's not uver-ditzy or nice like most Shojo Heroines. And the grudge demon's are always a plus.

I love it becuase I can connect with Kyoko. Alot of the manga heroin aren't really alot like real girls. To tell you the truth, I love revenge. I'm one who gets angry, but plot for ages to get back at someone. Kyoko also is really determined! I love that in a person.
I also like the what Ren adds to the series. Yes, he's a butt head alot. But you can tell he's got a good inside. I also love how both he and Kyoko have a soft side that comes out when they don't want it to (like when Ren found "Corn" Kyoko's stone and she smiled truly when he gave it to her) I feel like that helps you connect with the characters
But I adore the demons! They are so funny! I think I laugh outloud to them way to much!

Haha, the manga would be completely different if Kyoko didn't have her grudge demons. O it would be funny if there was one scene where she had like a mini war between her angels and her grudge demons and then the demons won.

Well...maybe not her ONLY enemy, but she may certainly be her own WORSE enemy, just like the saying says....or....NAW, Sho's her worse enemy. xd

But seriously, I have an extreme weakness for shojou but can't stand to read it in large doses 'cause of the utter idiocity of some of the heroines. I love how Kyoko won't fall over and cry but works for her revenge. I relate to her alot more like that. Plus, I love the humour of the series. It knows that some of the ideas are ridiculous and embraces it but still keeps the main plot somewhat serious and sane. That balance is hard to find now days.

kyoko seems to be the selling point for many people and even though i'm a complete kyoko supporter 'til the end, i still find it kinda amazing that i haven't come across a single skip beat fan who doesn't like kyoko (though i have come across some people who like neither skip beat or its heroine) because there always seems to be the fan who dislikes the main characters and claims that the supporting characters are what carry the story or whatever.

I have to agree with everyone else that the plot is awesome, it's so different from the stereotype stories like that. And the grudge demons are just the best xD
