((This is just random, and we are almost completely winging it. ^.^ Feel free to join if you want, because the more the merrier!))

...It's just going to be one of those days...
With a mighty sigh, Kida flopped down on to her bed and stared at the wall.
... Everything is so boring when the court is gone...
The king and queen had both abandoned the castle to take advantage of the rare good weather they were having this week, and of course most of the court had followed. However, Kida's duties always kept her inside, and normally very busy. The 4th daughter of a very minor lord, Kida had been sent to the place to study sorcery. Her talent had manifested at a young age, and her parents were very quick to send away to be trained by one of the 15 sorceress that served the crown. Each of the 15 had about 6 apprentices, so Kida normally didn't have any time to rest. Strangely enough, she like it that way. Kida loved all the work that she did under the sorcerer Asandra, and she always needed to keep busy. However, it looked like today was going to be different.

All of the sorceress had gone with the court, leaving their apprentices behind. Kida had finished her chores and the exercises Asandra had left for her hours ago. Now she was simply bored, and Kida hated being bored above all else. Staring up at the ceiling, the young girl toyed with the end of her long braid as she thought.
.... what to do... what to do...

Kenyen finished reading, and snapped the book shut. That was enoough studying, even for him. Kenyen looked at the small stack of books siting in front of him on his desk. It was amazing how much work one could get done, when you didn't have an over zelous master breathing down your neck. Kenyen pulled his feet off his desk, causing his chair to rock back on to all four legs. Putting the last book on the pile, Kenyan pulled himslef to his feet, and walked to the window. One could not have asked for a more beautiful day. The sun was shining the farmers were at work in th feilds of golden wheat, and best of all his master was miles away. Finally deciding that it was time to actually get some food this morning, Kenyan pulled on some light linen trousers, and a pale cream shirt. Strapping his belt aroud his waist, and donning his signet ring, Kenyan headed out the door.

Sitting up, Kida shook her head.
Perhaps food will help me think... and who knows? I might find someone on my way to the kitchen...
Since she had been up all morning, Kida was already wearing a plain gray gown; however her feet were bare. After pulling on a pair of worn boots, the young apprentice quickly put on the small pendant that marked her as a sorceress apprentice and left her room. Looking down the hall she saw that someone else was up and about as well; however, Kida wasn't sure she knew him. Quietly, she walked behind him, trying to figure out who he was.

Kenyen smiled to himself, as he wandered down the hall toward the stairs. The sun came streaming in the windows, shining through Kenyen's bright blond hair, and warmed the stone floor against his bare feet. Kenyen stopped, at on of the windows along the wall and looked once more out upon the golden farmland below, and the bluetinged mountains in the distance. It was hard to believe that a war might start before the first snows hit the passes. Kenyen was a little worried about his family, considering that his families lands were right near those passes.

Kenyen came back to reality when he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye. Once more Kenyen smiled to himself. "You know Kida, if you wanted to take a walk with me that badly you could have just asked." a quick smile flashed across his face.

Just as Kenyen spoke Kida realized who it was she was following. With a huff, she scampered forward to walk at Kenyen's side.
"For your information, I was trying to be polite. The glare from the sun made it hard for me to see who it was. So there."
After making a face at her companion, Kida smiled slightly and spoke once more.
"So, where are you headed Kenyen? I take it your master is gone as well?"

"Yeah, Raghnall went with the king as well. Actually I'm pretty sure that all of the Socerers went with the court." Kenyen replied "I think the castle was left in the charge of Sir Donovan, and you know what that means plenty of weapons practice. When there not wearing down our minds they seem to wear down our bodies."Kenyen jested in good nature. "Anyway, I was going to head down and grab some breakfast before Donovan, or one of his pages finds me, want to come with?"

At the mention of Sir Donovan, Kida made a face and laughed.
"Ugh you are right. The one one time I think being female could be an advantage, it isn't." Mimicking the knight, Kida looked very serious. "Being a woman does not stop you from being a sorcerer, so it does not exclude you from becoming a target for someone's blade. Also you are of nobel blood. So you shall learn how to protect yourself just like all the others, and I shall not take it easy on you. Now, do that drill again."
As she shook her head and laughed, it was easy to see that although she mocked Sir Donovan Kida still had great respect for the knight. Returning her attention to Kenyen, Kida smiled and nodded once.
"Breakfast does sound good, and hiding from weapons practice even better! So, I would love to join you."

Kenyen chuckled at Kida's imitation of the general. "Yeah that sounds just about right." Kenyen agreed. Resting his hands upon the pomels of the twin short swords at his waist, Kenyan turned to continue his way down toward the kitchens. "Well if we want toi gab somthing we better be quick I think I saw the pages on the loos down in the courtyards earlier." Kenyen walked to the door of the serevents stair, that led straight past the servents quarters to the roasting rooms. "After you my dear," Kenyen gave na exaggerated bow, motioning for Kida to go first.

Grinning, Kida returned Kenyen's bow with a ridiculous curtsy of her own.
"Why thank you good sir, you are just tooooo kind."
Holding up the skirts of her dress in one hand, she quickly trotted down the stairs. After thinking for a moment, Kida tuned slightly so that she could call back to Kenyen.
"Well if you saw them in the courtyard, we may actually have a chance to get away. They might assume that we are still in our rooms studying or doing chores, so if we grab something to take with us we could hide in the gardens." Then Kida smiled sheepishly. "I know a place where the pages hardly ever look. It's a good place to hide and it's a nice day..." Rather than wait for Kenyen's response, Kida continued her trek down the stairs.

Kenyen stepped quickly into the stair well, and closed the door quietly behind him. Kenyen pulled a small pollished piece of stone from a little pouch attched to his belt, "Lucidus Candeo," the stone shone in his hand casting a ring of light around his hand, and lighting up the dark path. Making his way down the cool stone stairs, Kenyen quickly caught up with Kida. "True, the pages will probably check our rooms first, but you know the kitchens will be the next place that they check. Let's just hope that Anu is willing to give us some food, without asking to many questions, or tipping off one of the pages." Kenyen looked down the hall of the servents quarters as they wandered down past them. It appeared that good number of the household had gone off with the court, and the rest were already well into the day's work.

As Kenyen cast his spell, Kida smiled slightly. The light was appreciated, but she was so use to sneaking in and out of the kitchen that she could go up and down these stairs blindfolded.
"You are probably right about that though... It just means we will have to be extra sneaky thats all."
Tossing her long braid over her shoulder, Kida laughed once more before speaking.
"Anu won't be much of a problem. She will just want us out of her kitchen as fast as possible, and she is willing to do just about anything to make our departure even quicker. Besides, deep down she is really just a softy." Even as Kida spoke, the voice of Anu could be heard kindly howling at one of the new kitchen maids. Anu looked like a mother, and many gravitated to her; however, as kind as she was, Anu ran the castle kitchens with the efficiency of a general.

"Hah! sounds like she is a good mood! Lets hurry!" Speeding up, Kida al but ran in towards the kitchens.

"Clausus Umbra," The stone in Kenyen's hand winked out, just as the orange light of the kitchen came into view. by the time kenyen had looked up again Kida, had dissapeared around the corner into the kitchen. "Hey wait up." Kenyen scrambled down the last few stps, into the kitchen. Upon seeing Anu over Kida's shoulder, Kenyen bowed respecfully. "Good morning M'lady."

"It far from morning, and it would be good if I had less work. Even with most of the castle gone, I still have to get everything done around here, and were understaffed at the moment." Anu shot back, giving Kida, and Kenyen a knowing smile, "You want some food, I take it."

Blaren suddenly woke with a shock. "Blaren, Blaren!" his father bellowed out, "Get up lad! We need the feed for the horses! This isn't a day for sleeping in." In a blazing dash he was up and running dressed pulling his pants on a linnen shirt and linen shoes. A horse farmboy who tired himself out and generally is a bit of light hearted person of late. His brother joked with him and his sister scolded him lightly on the way out. "Don't worry about it, I'll be back with dinner too before you know it!" he stated as he passed his father by at the gate. His family life was mostly good, good folk that helped each other out.

He headed down the dirt path with a hunters bow and a few arrows he grabed on the way; proceding to town to get the supplies ordered for the stock. The market was becomming demanding and the horses needed to be kept strong in these times. He passed others buy at the outskirt of town as he made his way to market, smiling, greeting some people he knew and joking with others - the usual routine.

Seeing that Anu was in fact in a good mood, Kida decided to play a bit. Collapsing dramatically on to a nearby table top, the young sorceress threw an arm over her face.
"Oh gentle and kind Lady Anu, we are but two poor wastrels looking for a crust of bread or a bit of fruit to keep us from the brink of starvation. Please, with your wisdom and grace would you be so kind as to- MEEP!"
Before Kida could finish her command performance, Anu calmly walked over and gently smacked her with a clean ladle. Grinning at the two, she shook the cooking implement menacingly.
"Now that is quite enough of that Kida! I told you I have work to do, and I have no time for your silly games." Putting her left hand on her hip, Anu gestured with the other and the ladle. "Now I knew I would be seeing you 'pertness at some point to day, so I made some bread stuffed with meat and cheese. They are over there on that tray. Now, take what you need and be gone with you!" With that, Anu made shooing motions at the two.

Grinning, Kida scampered over to the tray and wrapped up two of the treats in a napkin. Then she snatched a skin full of water. Swiftly, the young girl gave Anu a hug and moved towards that small door that lead towards the garden attached to the kitchens.

Kenyen shook his head at the floor. "you people never cease to entertain do you?" Kenyen commented, smiling warmly at the two of them. Kenyen bowed once more to Anu. "Thank you m'lady, I hope that we were not to much of a bother." Kenyen wandered ahead of Kida, and held the door open for her again. Kenyen turned his light brown eyes on Anu. "We should at least be back by dinner. I hope that you have a nice day." Kenyen started to follow kida out the door, before he turned toward Anu once more. "Oh, and Anu, get some fresh air, I would hate to see you couped up in the kitchens all day." Kenyen ran out the door, and closed it behind him before Anu had a chance to respond.

Kenyen walked over to the retaining wall, and looked down on the expanse that made up the main garden. "So where to?"
