Questing is basically when you're making money on Gaia in exactly the same way (posting/polling) except you have a quest thread, you ask for donations, and you're more bored. whee

If you actually want to get closer to your goal, rather than sit alone in a quest thread bumping , exchange! You can go from making 1k/2k a day, to at least 5k a day! (at first)

I've just started, and I can get 5k a day. heart I used to get like 500 gold. xd

However
Only the rich get richer! You need at least 15k-20k to start exchanging (with the cheaper donation items. ONLY the donation items- aka, monthly collectibles)

Basically,
1. Buy an item in the exchange forum for LESS than it's worth in the marketplace.

= aka, buy something for 10k in the exchange forum, when it's worth 10.5k-11k in the marketplace =

2. Sell the item in the marketplace for a higher price than what you bought it at. Aim to buy for 500g-1k less, so you make a profit when you sell.

3. Repeat! When you have lots of cash, you can buy the lower donation items in batches- so, buy 10 items, getting a 500gold discount on all of them. When you sell at a higher price in the MP, you've made 5k!

I messed around in the exchange a few times... it was kinda cool... if a bit nutty. I think it's harder now than when I was first on and doing it, though... because there's more people.

i got alot of quests finished by making quest threads because nothing else ever worked

I got something to add. You don't need to go the exchange to buy. You could always go to time remaining and bid. Then sell.

I usually do what you do... buy extra letters and sell them later.

I use to be an exchange whore. it got really boring after a while though.
