The soft sweet billowing grasses seemed to give way to more and more patches of soft cream colored earth, the likes of which the young lion had never seen. The long journey was about to pay off, pungent smells invaded his nostrils the salty air seemingly having a life of its own. Wistful thoughts of what life was to be from here on out drifted in; cubs, the sea, the world, and everything he could imagine in between. The long slow journey was finally going to pay off without the red lion even realizing it. His bum leg ached and his front shoulder still held the tenderness of months before. He had walked and the love of his life walked beside him. One glimpse of her pink pelt set his heart and mind on fire, and each time he woke to see she was still there the fire burned brighter.
Some would say that Hasidi was running, but from what, that was the real question. He ran from a family far away, and long dead, and he ran from his own aches and pains. For the most part however he was running towards the open door to happiness, to leave the awkward bumbling cub behind and to grow into a good and loving mate. He was running for a future, not from a past.
Mid afternoon he finally stopped walking, sweat dripping and causing him to itch beneath his mane. He had had enough walking for one day, perhaps it was time to rest.

The walking was slowed down on two accounts this time. Chuakari found herself going a bit slower than normal, but with a travelling companion like hers it was hard to tell. She was not used to travelling so far, and she attributed it mostly to that. Her whole life had been spent in the region between the lower-Pridelands and Duma'bara lands, and everything she saw seemed so very new to her. It was all so wonderful, and she couldn't wish to do it with anyone other than Hasidi.
So far she'd quite enjoyed the trip, and was anxious to get to the water and see it for herself. Everyone said so much about it, she was finally ready to see it. Unfortunately, the closer she got to it the more she noticed that she wasn't so sure about the smell that got stronger the farther they went.
When Hasidi stopped, Kari took a look toward the sky to judge the time and then took a seat, "Time to rest?"

"Yes rest," he smiled and raised his amber eyes to catch his mate's, "Can you smell that? What is it?" He chuckled and the sound seemed to rumble from the back of his throat. The back dark red leg jutted out at an odd angle, as always. The adult lion, so weird to be known as an adult, was healing very nicely, even if it had been a month or so since his healing and perhaps a month or two before that that was the attack he was still feeling the effects of the brutal ambush.

The cheetah inched closer to her mate and rested her head against him, inhaling happily- Hasidi was much more pleasent a smell than what she assumed was the ocean.
"I'm guessing the smell in the sea," she replied, not sounding quite so pleased about it at the moment, "I- I don't know but I don't like it that much. I hope it's not the sea I'm smelling." Kari hated to admit she was concerned she found the sea-air so distasteful, but it just came out. She really hoped it wasn't the water that was bothering her.
"We must be getting close, right?" she asked, glancing up at him hopefully.

The blood rushed to his face as she leaned against him, and he flashed a mischievous smirk. But his heart skipped a beat when she said she did not like the smell of the air, and hoped that it was not the sea. He had wanted to see the great sands and wanted to see the great and wide ocean, but the smell was getting to him to, perhaps they would not stay here long, or get used to the smell.
“I bet if we walk a little more we’ll see it, can we rest just for a moment?” shifted pressing his face against her, he also thought she had a much more pleasant aroma than the sea.

She buried her face into his mane happily, content to take a break from the walk and the scent and even just to sit so close to Hasidi. Kari was certainly feeling a little more clingy since they started there trip, but she'd never really travelled before and was a bit nervous about all the change.
"Mhmm," she murmured, the only audible sound she could make the way was positioned at the moment.

"Walking so far really makes you appreciate where you've come from, doesn't it? Do you miss the Duma'bara..?" He wrinkled his brow slightly but was still content just to have her beside him, and to be so close to the place they had been wandering towards. He took her clingyness as a sign that she may be uncomfortable in their current surroundings.
"Are you okay here..we can turn around..without seeing the water?" he nudged her with his body concerned for her well being.

Kari nodded, turning her head so she could speak instead of just making mumbly sounds into his mane. They were on the same page about the clinging, for she certainly was happiest keeping the one familiar thing she had here as close to her as possible.
"It does," she agreed, and though she hesitated a moment she shook her head to the second question, "I don't miss Duma'bara as much as I thought. I miss my friends a little, but I couldn't have made a better choice."
His last question and suggestion startled her, and she leaned out a bit to look at him, "I'm fine, and we have to see the water. That was the whole point of coming here. Wouldn't you be disappointed not seeing it?"

He nodded knowing intuitively that she would say she missed her friends, but a part of him thought she'd miss the land itself. He missed the land as well as the royal family, and of course his own family.
"For you, I would turn around with out ever seeing it in a heart beat," he smiled and winked, "I'd follow you anywhere. Being disappointed is less important than your comfort, dear one."
He only really did need a moment to catch his breath and was going to suggest that they pressed out soon, maybe just a little more time sitting and he would ask if she was ready to continue.

"I would never do that to you, Hasidi," she replied brightly, nudging him in a fashion similar to how he'd nudged her- though her size prevented it from being as effective.
"Do you suppose we really are that close?" Kari asked hopefully, looking around in hopes of catching a glimpse of something through the tall grass.

"I know my dear, and perhaps we'll see if we push on, are you ready to move?" He stood slowly so he wouldn't bump and knock her over, and hoped she wouldn't fall. He was getting uncomfortable as it was, his joints stiffening.
"We'll see the water soon enough, and I am sure our efforts will be worth it."

"I'm ready," she agreed with a not, and stood herself up as well. She took a second to stretch out her legs and looked to Hasidi with a smile. "Lead the way," Kari beamed, "Show me the water." If he was so sure, then he would lead the way the rest of the trip himself! It was not a spiteful thing, merely the cheetah having some fun.

"On your left you will see....grass! and..." he started to walk towards the grasses in the direction they were heading. He had seen rivers, ponds, and small lakes but nothing could prepare him for what lay ahead.."You sure you trust me to lead the way, somewehre I heard that cheetahs have a good sense of direction, maybe you should lead!"

Kari followed along with Hasidi happily, giggling at his tour-guiding comments. When his words slowed down, and moved to get right at his side and beamed over at him.
"Don't be silly, love, you can lead the way," she encouraged him happily, "You said so yourself it wouldn't be far. Collaboration got us this far, you can handle the rest."

"Bu-" before he could finish his sentence a gull cried over head startling him, "No..we're certainly close, those type of flyers like water, lots of water!" he snickered and started to move again, glad that she stood beside him and was not fallowing along behind. His limp kept them slow and he was sure in his mind, because of his insecurity about it, that she was flustered with the slow pace that he kept.
