It was that time of year.
You can't escape it.
You can't avoid it.
You can only survive it.
And even with that task in mind, there is hardly a chance of passing the day without incident.
As the digital clock ticked the seconds by; Ryusuke hurriedly prepared herself for her-- in the farthest sense of the word-- 'date'. She slid into her dress and tied her hair back. Despite not being egar to see him again, it certainly was not within her nature to turn down a free meal. Her alarm let out a shrill whistle, telling her she was late. Franticly, Ryu grabbed her purse and ran from the second story apartment.
When she arrived at Chez Rion, there was no mistaking who she was intended to find.
There he stood, in his Wednesday best, wearing that doughy smile of his.
That.. horrible smile.
It was... cute.
It was... charming.
It was... annoying beyond all conceivable reasoning.
Sucking up her rage, Ryu strode over to him. Her eyes- refusing to look at him-- focused in on the door.
"I'm glad you ca--" the man began, before being cut off by our temperamental heroine.
"Let's go inside. It's cold out here."
The man smiled and nodded, going inside with her.
Making their way to their table, the young gentleman pulled out a chair-- motioning for his companion to take her seat. Naturally, the young woman declined his offer and instead sat across the table.
"You don't want to be here, do you?" he asked, taking the seat for himself.
She replied with a very curt tone. "I rather dislike you. And I have no intention on being your friend."
"This much is obvious"
Evil eyes.
"Don't you slander my words before I'm finished speaking, Ratte."
Silence
Deadly silence
Silence to send shivers down the spine of the dearly departed
"Hamster, actually," he responded meekly, as if not wanting her to hear.
"Pardon?"
He shook his head and waved his hand, signifying that it was nothing.
The rest of the evening involved only enough speech for the waiter to take their order and an occasional comment regarding the loud mouthed children in the booth beside their own. As the night wrapped to a close, the guardian departed from the restaurant and preceded to go directly to bed. Having not even put forth the effort to remove her stockings, she slumped into bed and gripped the talesmen around her neck. It wasn't long before she drifted off into the land of dreams yet again.
This evening couldn't have ended any sooner.

Sadly for the woman it wasn't nearly over. As she slept her soul left her body in a dreaming state. Around her neck was the relic on it's chain-truly it was the soul of the child taking on the form of the relic. She was floating above her body-obviously sleeping not dead-and on the other end of the room was a door that beckoned her to open it. Though she had no clue what lay beyond it she opened the door.
As soon as she entered the darkness beyond the door it vanished. Where she was left was a cave-a dark edge of a forest, just out of sight of a city that seemed so very far away. On the ground, back pressed up against a tree, was an adult version of the spirit that had latched onto Ryu. She was lovely, with long curling hair and dusky skin. She bore the legs of a goat, the tail of a demon, horns on her head and soft feathery wings. Her gown had an opening in the front of it that would allow one to see her cleavage. But it allowed one to also see a thin red mark like a cut that had stopped bleeding but not healed. It was more of a rip though in her flesh-a circular pattern around her heart. She had had her heart ripped out and that was the only sign that it had happened. The relic beckoned for Ryu to touch the body of the woman-thoguh she knew not what would happen when she did.

Ryu's eyes surveyed the immediate surroundings. Terror and intrigue meshed into one as she continued to study the area around her. Of course, upon seeing her, she recognized her friend. hurriedly, Smiling a broad grin, she reached out to take the hand of her spirit companion... but stopped.
That red scar...
Somehow, she knew what it meant. Her mouth opened, to say something to her ill-fortuned friend, but alas nothing escaped her lips. Reacting on impulse, her slightly teary-eyes shut. She reached out for the woman and hugged her close in gentle tenderness

A glowing started when Ryu touched the body of the deceased deity. But as Ryu had her eyes closed she didn't have to pull back from the blinding glow that encased the woman and the relic. But she did feel the change that occuered in a few moments. The relic shooting from her neck into the body, the body shrinking and then when that warm glow stopped there was a baby girl snuggled into Ryu's arms making cute little cooing noises and hugging her new "mommy"
She had the same softly curled hair-though it was much shorter and more loose now-and she had those soulful eyes-purple that hued red-and dusky skin. She even had the goat legs. But the large lovely wings and the horns were gone for now, leaving only an adorable baby girl to snuggle with Ryu. Now it was the woman's choice of what to do.

She had long since realized that normalcy was a thing of the past, and yet she couldn't ever have been prepared for the events that had just taken place.
The wave of warmth*, the light feeling around her neck... and then the feel of something soft and sweet in her arms...
Ryu's off-color eyes drifted down to the child. The baby was nothing like the burden she had imagined. True she was young and defenceless, true she was in need of care and dependent upon her assigned adult; But one thing she was not was a punishment. On the contrary; as Ryu coddled the baby and held her close, she kissed the infant's head and whispered, "You are a gift."
She glanced around her surroundings once again. Quickly realizing her entry point was the mouth of the cavern and not the silvery portal of which brought her here, she moved her legs- one at a time, towards her destination. "We have a big day ahead of us," she said to the infant-- of whom continued to nuzzle at her chest. "Your new home awaits."

*Light and heat are both biproducts of chemical reactions and the transference of energy.. So I'm just assuming that the 'blinding light' would have been warm...

As she made her way towards the mouth of the cave, having accepted the child, the door reappeared, wide open. On the other side was Ryusuke's bed where she slept peacefully, her arms around the baby girl. Both were souls in this place but as soon as they went back to their bodies they would be back to normal and the child would be fully reborn. Now they could wake up and Ryu could do something about getting her clothed.
And with that the baby of the Demonic has been born. Congrats Roze
