This isn't just about what music you all like.
I want to know if any of you listen to specific music before training or competition, wether you play an instrument...
All that s**t. whee

Personally, I'm a big fan of metal, rock, blues, jazz, folk, traditional, classical...
Anything non-electric, non-mindnumbing.
That means I hate R&B and most electronic music... Death to DJ'S!!!!
I don't listen to anything before training or competition because I don't have any device that allows me to when on the road.
I also play flute and some piano.

I like mostly rock, but at the same time I'd like a country song, if it had the right ingredients. Before martial arts? If I happen to be listening to something before class, then yeah, I guess you could say I was listening to something before class. As far as instruments go, I play a pretty mean guitar. But that's about it.

I like my Techno. I mean you either love it, or hate it. And if you love it you might take it easy on me, you hate it, you might mess up and get caught.

I love Techno too. But other than a few mainstream songs, I'm mostly into Indie stuff.

I play guitar...and so does my guitar teacher, who happens to be Indonesian and does Hapkido as well. What's so funny also is that most of his students have or actually do a certain martial art while learning guitar from him. xd

He's a good guitar teacher, and he's really dedicated to both martial arts and music. I suppose he does inspire me to some extent.

And about martial arts and music; well...I actually prefer having some music on when I train. Helps it become more 'dynamic' and less boring, I suppose. ninja

Actually playing the guitar is easy. The hard part, in my opinion, is learning how to read sheet music, as well as the other theory behind it. Scales, major dominant chords, stuff like that, is what I don't know. I can play just fine though. That's the most important part.

Well...you don't NEED to be able to read sheet music when you play guitar. xp

Actually since I took a class in guitar, we had to learn the notes and stuff to play some songs from the book... So I learned it and glad I did. So that way if I start writing, I can write my stuff correctly.

I suppose it would be advantageous if we're talking about classical guitar. But I'm of the mind that for everything else, a little tape recorder and TAB would be enough. Music is something that we listen to, not something we read, imho. 3nodding
