It's basically a collection of 9 "mini-games", it's a LOT like Wii sports. There's billiards, shooting range, cow racing, Table Tennis, laser hockey, tanks, and more.
It also comes with an extra controller! Which is AWESOME.

It is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Well no not that great...but still pretty sweet.
Wii play is the second in a series of three Wii games, the first being Wii sports, and the last being Wii music.
I think of Wii play as a sort of training exercise for you, it helps get to grips with the different ways you can use the remote, and well it is just plain fun.
Also great for when you have friends over, especially the Laser Hockey.

not htat great.... 2 players only ... wish it was four
just a hand full of mini games which teach you the uses of the control
