Stirring slightly from hersleep, Khepri lifted her large head, squinting from the light that hit her sharp golden eyes. It had been a long night and and an even longer day before. Of course the previous day was just a blur in her awoken mind, but Khepri didn't mind very greatly the fact that she couldn't remember it right now.
For some reason she was warmer than she'd ever been. Even when she had been out on the desert she hadnt' been this warm. The large female's toes curled in happiness, a gentle grin flitting over her white muzzle slowly as she closed her shimmering gold eyes and leaned back further on her right side.
Right into something fluffy and warm... very warm...
Turning her head slowly to look at whatever was sleeping at her back, Khepri's eyes took in the large and incredibly fluffy Kota. It took her a moment to register who he was but eventually her brains kicked back in and the female stared even more at him. What.... how had they wound up sleeping together?
Blinking to clear her eyes and brain, Khepri flicked her eyes up and found that they were beneath an overhang, possibly the overhang that Kota had told her about before. But had they... did they...
No. There was no way. She wasn't like that and she wouldn't have done that even if she WERE like that. Not after she had met Kota and had started to get to know him. Khepri wasn't like that.
Deep down you are.
Or did you forget that you like him?
Did you forget that we can tell what you're thinking deep down inside?
The voices goaded her as she slid a little away from Kota to give him some space so he didn't wake up the same way she had. ninja

A slight breeze ruffled the huge jet black furry mane of the pridelands male. His nose shifted slightly, the only part of him that truely showed in the dark except for the three bands of white upon his tail. His lips pursed in a yawn. "Ye up already lass? in't nay res' fer the wikid roun' you is thar?" A slight roguish grin turned his lips and he gave a low, rumbling chuckle which echoed from deep in that large cavernous chest.
One coal black eye watched as she padded away from him and he let another of those wide mouthed yawns stretch his yaw and flash those pale incisors. Slowly standing he stretched out his heavily mucled body, with age the cubby fat of the pridelands had melted away from the jet black male, he was now mostly purely mucle and sinew which rolled under that dark fur making him look sleek.
"ye know lass a capn' need's is beauty sleep." He gave a cheeky wink then as he padded up behind her stretching his ample black limbs as he went until he caught up to her and nipped her shoulder playufully.
'Kota truely adored the deep red female, he wanted ehr to stay with him when they reached the sea, though he guessed she would not. With the time that they had travelled together he had become very close to her but he had never tried to puch any sort of authority. She was after all his first mate and that sort of thing just wasn't right. He simply had to admire from afar. Tilting his nose to the air, he took a deep breath, ever since the day before the first salty breath of the sea had hit his nostrils and slowly it was becoming stronger. Soon he would see that which he so obsessed over.

Glancing over at him as he stood, Khepri used the old firekin ice that normally inhabited the hearts of those firey lions to keep herself from blushing. Every firekin possesed it, even her, though often she chose to do without it rather than to keep putting using it and driving herself mad. Firekin blood was known to overpower, Khepri was one in a pawful of lions and lionesses that didn't answer it when it burned in her veins, but then Khepri wasn't JUST a normal lioness.
"Ah know tha', but if yo' wanna see the ocean yo'll hafta deal with risin' with the sun cap'n." Khepri responded, lifting the edge of her white muzzle in a grin meant only for him.
Of course the voices that had spoken before were right, she loved him. Kota was the only male that hadn't treated her like she was an absolute freak or a monster, he treated her like she was a lioness first and a rouge second while most saw her scarring and took her for a rouge that should be watched with wary eyes.
Not Kota, never Kota.
But it wasn't meant to be, or at least that was what her mind was telling her. She didn't know what the future would hold or the pain she might bumble into and most likely would, but she knew that he wanted the sea and she wanted the Ela'. So it just couldn't happen, it just wouldn't work. She would take this laying down, unlike so many other things, she would accept that she and Kota wouldn't be together for the rest of time.
Don't do that.
Go with him, you know you're just perfect for him.
Idiots together really.
Blood lanced through the air as Khepri cracked her head to the wall and trotted out into the sunlight to shake her dulled head clear, letting blood slide down from her eyes from the force she'd hit her head with. This was why she had to go and find the Ela', she had to be rid of them once and for all. ninja

He grinned as she said he had to get up early to see the sea. "why be it a movin' away from us lass?"He chuckled and caught up to her, knowing she would catch his joke. "Thar aint no hurry khepri, tha sea'll still be thar when we gets thar." Truth be told, he had a feeling that she would leave him when they got to the sea. She had a desire, a fire which he had never seen before, something which he admired, loved, adored even, a passion which he wanted to hold. But she was something that had to be free as much as he wanted to keep her, to hold her and tell her that everything would be alright.
A roguish smirk came to his maw then as he nudged her side with his pale nose. "I be thinkin' I'll spen' some time at the sea afore I moves on, ye'll be stayin' lass won' ya?" It was a sore question, he wanted to sound blazey about it all, he wanted to sound as if it didn't matter if she went or not, though there was a slight begging sound in his rough voice. He knew full well he couldn't hold on to her as much as he wanted to, she was like water, she slipped through his claws so easily.
"I can smell it in the air yanno." He decided it was time to change the subject, dwellign on the fact that she would leave him when they hit the seas shores hurt him and made his heart beat faster. He longed for her to stay, but knew full well he couldn't really ask her too. It would be wrong of him to try and tame her to keep ehr for himself, he knew that no matter how much he wanted her with him, he had to let her be free to do ehr own thing. "I canna wait ta see the sea, haha mebe i'll swim the ocean nex hmm?" He grinned again those dark coal black eyes glistening.

Using her large paw to sock him one in the shoulder playfully, Khepri stretched her body and tried to clear her mind of the voices that were still chattering about up there. She wanted to enjoy the start and middle of this day, because she knew at the end of the day she would have to leave the male she so desperately wanted to stay with. She couldn't though... she knew that and she accepted it but she didn't HAVE to like it...
"Well... Ah know it moves an' ebbs, so in a way it does move away." Khepri said with a grin at him, it was the truth, she'd watched it happen before her very eyes.
Get to the point.
Damnit she's so slow.
"Yo should go and swim in the waves, yo'll like 'em, yo' will." Khepri winked at him brightly and blatantly avoided his question about weather or not she'd be staying. She'd tiptoed around it though she knew that he was smart enough to ask her once more why she hadn't answered him. Deep down she prayed he wouldn't ask her if she was staying once more.
She wanted to... but she couldn't very well get her answers from the sea could she? Well maybe she could, but she hadn't found them the last time she was there and she didn't think she would find them there if she went back again. Yet here she was, going again with this large fluffy male that...
Blinking her eyes clear so she didn't dwell too much on him to the point where she wouldn't be able to leave him, she had to leave, she had to... ninja

He let the fact that she refused to answer his question slide. He wouldn't, no he couldn't ask again if she said no outright it would break his heart. He knew she was leaving, that was, sort of fine, well no it wasn't fine at all, but he couldn't stop her from walking out of his life any more than he could beg her to stay. A part of it was pride, but most of it was the unending adoration he had for her. he couldn't tie her down, it would be like ripping the wings off a butterfly for sport. If you love somone enough, let them be free. He sighed, though he hid it behind a cough, feining clearing his throat of dust.
"Aye lass, I'll bout swim tha ocean an' back roun' again." His onyx coloured eyes glimmered as he watched the path ahead of him then silent for a long time. "Yanno, when ye get ta ya ela's ye tell um ta look afta ye lass, I dun wan'ta hear nout abou' ye fallin' off nay cliffs er nothin.2 It was as close to an acceptance speach as he was going to get.She was leaving him, when his toes hit the sand, when he completed his dream, she would walk away forever and leave him in her past.
Her flame burned brightly, he couldn't put it out, he couldn't quell the fire within ehr for his own feelings. he loved her, he knew that, but he also loved the sea, he could easily follow her like a little dog to the ends of the earth, but that didn't mean she would ever return his feelings.
he even doubted she liked him the way he adored her, she wanted to see the rest of the world and that was fine by him, he couldn't hold ehr down no matter how much he wanted to.

A chuckle came from Khepri's muzzle for him once more and she ushered him along with a gesture of a paw, trying to get hi to follow her as she trotted slowly over the grass. There were about two hills between them and the ocean. It was no problem at all to smell the salt water hanging in the air that day considering that they were so close. Her heart swelled unhappily in her chest and Khepri looked down at the ground beneath her white paws for a long moment as she trotted.
"Ah might take a swm with yo' for a bit then." Khepri said softly, wanting to keep herself at his large fluffy side for as long as she possibly could. So what if she should go and find the Ela' as soon as she possibly could so she could relax, that night that she'd been curled up near him and then just woken up crushed to his body.... that had been relaxing too hadn't it?
Shaking her head again, the adult female sighed gently in anger at herself, hiding it with a gentle grunt of acknowledgement for his words about the Ela'.
"Yo' know Ah'm a big girl, Ah'm no' gonna end up with anymore scars or nothin' like tha'." She grinned at him, a snowy fang showing for a moment from her muzzle when she lifted the edge of it up a bit. She would miss that over protective streak he had when she went to find the Ela', would miss that he always tried to keep her safe.
Maybe he didn't feel the same way? There was something in her heart that told her that he did, at least maybe. But there was nothing she could do about it, she'd spent a lifetime looking for them... how could she just walk away from them? ninja

Padding quietly over the dunes the first sight of the sea beyond the cliffs took the large jet black lions breath away. He was still, and stiff for a long silent moment, the sea breeze rustling his dark thick mane, bringing the scent of fish and salt, seaweed and far off places to his tender sences. "It's beautiful." He whispered, his accent managing to be quelled for a moment for these simple words, though he soon turned a roguish grin back to the deep red female whom he nudged playfully before bolting down towards the beach his sleek body eating up the distance with each longstride.
"Come on Khepri lass! I aint waitin' fer yo hairy legs ta larn ow ta walk!" He laughed his tail swaying like a helicopter behind him. He was trying hard to hide the dissapointment at finding one love only to loose another, but he wouldn't tell Khepri how he felt, doing that he thought would only ruin the beautiful red femme. He couldn't force her to come and join him and be a happy sea dog as he knew, even with that first breath of the sea he must always be now.
He knew he must return to the pridelands for a short spell to inform his parents, his family of his wareabouts, but the sea would become his hom,e, he knew it, it saddened him that Khepri didn't want what he did but he would never ask her to stay and give up her dream for him, it meant too much to her and heknew it.
He would just have to swallow the feelings and hope that maybe she would come and visit him at thesea shore.

Using her golden eyes to watch Kota's reaction to the ocean, Khepri let a smile spread over her muzzle and nodded to him. She'd had somewhat of the same sort of reaction to him when she had first seen it, but she hadn't been searching her whole entire life for it either. She imagined that this was the same sort of reaction would come from her when she discovered the Ela', though she could only really hope and not really expect much.
At his nudge, Khepri shot off after him, legs kicking up sand as she flew over the sands, tears being stripped from her golden eyes and thrown to the winds so that Kota would never see them. The wind from the ocean was cold, it kept her from being comfortable, though that was simply because of her shorter than normal fur. The red didn't suck up sun as much as Kota's black was sure to.
Maybe... maybe after she found the Ela' she would go to find her way to the shores of the sea again and find Kota, to find her captain once again. Maybe it was just that she felt something deep down in her heart for the sea... but she knew it was because she loved Kota. She knew it was because she loved him desperately. And here she was about to leave the love of her life.
Her white tipped paws landed in water and the female rolled immediatly, letting her body dissapear beneath the surf before popping back up on the other side and grinning brightly. She was large enough that she could stand out in the deeper water without having to move her legs and tread it. ninja

He had waited his whole life to touch the sea with his dark paws and heer he was, belly deep in the cool salty waters of the sea, letting the waves lap at his shadowey fur, his coal black eyes looking out over the endless expance of water which he had longed for his whole life. Looking at Khepri he laughed and vanished beneath the surface of the water, coming back up in a splash and a sprinkle of the salty waves, his large, fluffy mane flatteend against his head as he splashed the deep red firekin femme with dreops from his mane.
"Its beautiful Khepri." He smiled, his eyes fixed upon her. He wanted to beg her to stay then, beg her not to leave him for a moment, ask, request, hope she would stay behind him on the beach, by the sea, amongst the waves. But the question caught in his throat and he swallowed hard letting the lump fall back in to his stomach. "It's better than I imagined lassy!" he let that roguish grin return to his maw, those onyx like eyes glistening. "I be thinkin' me ol' sea dog legs be a findin' them sel's a restin place." He shook his dark mane out then, his long fur falling over his eyes so he had to toss his head back to rid his vision of hair.
"Ah'll alway's be 'ere I think, me 'eart, as foun' it's ome." He stated simply, hoping she would at least take the hint and perhaps return to see him one day.

Her golden eyes filled with sorrow at his words, taking in his fluffy mane and his coal black fur. She pulled her eyebrows for a moment and let a deep sigh pass from her snowy muzzle.
Of course she was glad that he was happy, but her heart felt like it was breaking as she saw how happy he was. Deep down Khepri knew that the two of them had to go their seperate ways, but she didn't want to. If she'd had her way just then she wouldn't even have left him, she'd have played with him in the surf forever. But she didn't have her way.
Yes, we have your way don't we?
You'll always be at our mercy.
The voices goaded her while her shells were off of her ears, reminding her of why she would never be with the male she loved with her heart. Why was it so hard for her to follow it?
Watching him for a long moment, Khepri let her paws pull her forward and she walked straight to him and buried her face in his mane. She thanked every god up there that he was all wet, because he wouldn't feel the tears that slid from her eyes slowly while her face was buried in his mane. Why did she have to leave him like this?
Finally pulling back from his neck slowly, Khepri's entire face was wet, hiding her tears that had finally finished falling, "Well then... looks like 'ome for ya'll be the most beautiful o' all 'omes." She told him, rubbing at her face for a moment. "But Ah gotta go an' find mah 'ome now as well. Ah 'ope the two o' us meet up again...."
Her golden eyes shimmered up to his own and she pulled her eyebrows together tiredly. ninja

The dark lion swallowed hard, his brow furrowing. He desperately wanted to beg her to stay with him, to follow him down the sea shores and find a place to rest, to stay near the watery paradise forever. he couldn't, he desperately wanted to but couldn't. To ask her to stay, it would be like cageign a beautiful red bird. "Aye lassy, ye jus' mak' sure an' be a comin' back ta me when ye be settled." He puffed out his chest then and touched her nose with his own that cheeky roguish grin forming on his maw again. "Ah'll bout be waitin' fer ye ta come back lassy, even if it be jus' ta visit." His voice, for a change, was a whisper, his onyx coloured eyes smiling, preying maybe that she would change her mind and stay with him.
Shaking his sopping mane he nudged her shoulder. "I'll bout be seein' ye orf this ere stretch 'o' san', you jes' remember I'll be 'ere, ifn ye comes back." He raised a brow at her then those handsome lips turning in a cheeky playful grin. He longed for her to stay, but he would never make her, he just hoped she would come back one day, even if it was just to visit for a short time. "Ah hope ye fin' wat yer lookin' fer out thar lassy."

Watching him with her blazing tarnished golden eyes, Khepri managed to keep the blush from her cheeks when he tapped her nose with his own. Every move he made forced her heart to swell up and the large lioness couldn't help but bite her lower lip. He made it so hard to leave him, because she knew that if she walked away and joined the Ela' that she might not come back.
No.... no she would come back.
Her heart was realizing now that it was breaking and Khepri leaned forward a little, pressing her cheek to his and closing her eyes. "Ah'll always come back for yo'."
It was a whispered promise, but Khepri knew she would keep it just because of that. She couldn't break a promise to her captain after all... to her love.
Pulling back, she smiled weakly at him, "Ah 'ope Ah do too. An when Ah come back ta visit ya Ah'll tell yo' all about it, 'ow 'bout tha'? But first, yo' gotta show meh offa the sand, so Ah can start on meh way." ninja
