Ok - While playing shopkeeper, I send the finished artwork out via PMs. Today, I've been seeing various "reminders" of Gaia's TOS showing up at the top of the PM form... a different "reminder" each time I send a PM. HOWEVER, when this little gem showed up, I just had to take a break from playing shopkeeper to share............. Quote: Botting is not allowed. This includes but is not limited to; using an automated script, macro, or refreshing feature to post, surf webpages or automaticly play games in order to generate Gaia gold or gain Gaia items and/or using multiple accounts to do so is considered botting. Any accounts found to be profiting from botting will be banned. To learn more, please visit the Security Warnings FAQ and the Information for Parents page. .... but no announcement clarifying what, exactly this means? Or even that the TOS has been updated? o_0!! This *sounds* like we should now have one and only one main account with which to play.... or doesn't Daily Chance and roleplaying with various personalities (mules) count? I'm so utterly confused and just plain ticked off right now - it's been over a month since Blaisixi has been unfairly banned, I've heard *nothing* concerning the status of that account, but I've decided to brave running my shop and playing on this site *anyway* just to receive cryptic, suspicious "notes" like this showing up at the top of the PM page??? Ideas? Information?

I saw that too while filling my mule's shop. Never mind that he's *the* shopkeeper. So what... we're not allowed to collect dailies or post or whatnot with our mules? We're not allowed mules? So we're just to risk our primary accounts because someone else refused to play by the rules by doing anything at the market? I'd really like the moderators to explain what they plan to do to actually *fix* the problem rather then just place restrictions on the players!!! evil

I think it means using multiple accounts to do those things. They would have to ban half of Gaia if you werent allowed to do things on your mules. Not to mention all of the shops that use mules to run their shops

Perhaps. But whatever their intention, the statement quoted above is scary and vague, IMHO... especially after being banned in such a manner! stressed I'd *love* some details ...

The other one that throws me is the "or refreshing feature to post"... I can't refresh to post? How will I know if someone's posted then? Leave the thread and come back in question
I must be reading it wrong because it just makes no sense to me!
The other thing I'm thinking too is the RL money they'll lose if they prohibit mules. Because everyone spends more just so they can *also* dress their mules!
I'm getting a headache thinking about this! stressed

When I read it, I took it as using some sort of automatic browser refresh feature to post the same thing over and over without you actually being there. But I'd have no idea HOW to do that, but it does remind of the mentions in the neo editorials about automatic refresh features on browsers that people use and abuse. It does scare me a little the mention of multiple accounts because they've never before mentioned whether or not it's ok, or under what conditions it's ok. confused

The way that I read it was that they wer specifically referring to using AUTOMATED SCRIPTS to do such things as refresh to post and surfing on other accounts. I'm sure people set up random side accounts and set up bots on them to avoid being frozen in their regular account.
And I got this same message when I opened a PM from gaia telling me my vending auction had expired. And yesterday I got one warning me against cybering when I opened a PM from fawN about her new baby. I think they're just trying to be cautious and as long as we're following the TOS (which I'm assuming most of us are) there's no need to worry here

Ok. Well, I think I'm just going to not think of this too much. So long as collecting dailies is acceptable on all accounts (and I don't think I read anything specifically pertaining to this) then I'll keep going as I was up till now.

I'm not taking it personally, but I feel it must be addressed, so: Yes, most of us ARE following TOS and *SOME* of us got banned anyway. neutral Cryptic messages about following TOS, placed in relatively obscure places, is just about the last thing *some* of us need to be seeing, given the circumstances and Experience dealing with TOS "violations" rolleyes . Being so cavalier about such things may just find you with a banned account - for doing NOTHING wrong, and although I don't think Gaia is cracking down on "normal" activities or accounts, or changing the rules (at least I *hope* not), it was worth mentioning these "reminders" to my fellow Purkles....

I don't think she in any way meant you were ever one not to follow TOS, but just that she has no way of telling who does what. She could have just as easily said "which I'm assuming all of us are" but that can also be taken as a mother or teacher pointing her finger and thinking "you BETTER be!" Please don't take it personally. I'm sure it wasn't meant to be. We know the supposed botted gold was passed down innocently from account to account in the marketplace, and I have no idea how far down Gaia tracks it, but none of us think that deserves banning. Oooh, uh.. EDIT! - I misread this first part you said: Blazing Crayon Jaz, I'm sure you're not aware how callous your comment seems... I'm not taking it personally, but I feel it must be addressed, so: as "I'm not sure you're aware how callous your comment seems..." and I see you specifically said you're NOT taking it personally. Eek, I'm sorry I misinterpreted what you said when I first read it!

It seems like the security warning are showing up on all pm and mail like transactions - I just got one when I got my feb items.
There is a way to 'turn off' these security warnings - it said something about it in the security faq if you follow the link in the warning.

I wasn't being "cavalier" and I wasn't directing my comment to any one in particular. as far as I know everyone here is following the gaia TOS. but I dont' talk to everyone here. Hell I barely talk to 10 people here. I was simply stating that I also received the same message atop a gaiaonline generated PM. I'm sure you also don't realize how callous your post is towards me. I didn't attack anyone personally in mine. I expressed personally to you how sorry I was about your account. I never suggested anyone here has done anything against TOS. and while you say you didn't take it personally how can I believe that when you're pointing out things that personally pertain to you.
