Early morning, before any of the other animals were awake, most likely, the red youth wandered to a water hole for a drink and to reflect. Alone for the while, his body resting on the edge of the coast. His fur was a slight mess, he had never learned how to quite clean it and he had been in some rough situations before leaving together with Ewan. His paw dipped into the water and with a sigh, his muzzle.
A drink.
Dumu had agreed to leave with the adult for his own reasons, he only told the male the surface of his reasons. His mentor's "torture" was what it was, but he had his own reasons ones that he wished to keep to himself. But at least he was better off here with him. He decided to rest there a while before heading back to the other lion. The water was calming to him and well, he was still thirsty.
Akiiki, Azraceri, Athrun.... what are you all doing?
His ears pinned back. He didn't think he'd have to 'train' now that he was free from his mentor, but he was a bit worried. He closed his eyes and focused the mental picture of his brother. White fur, lilac mane and sky blue eyes. His muzzle was scarred and he did not seem all too well.... when he was older... he would come back for him. The image of a brilliant orange lioness with the same lilac eyes and the image of a large winged male with a blindfold across his eyes. Mother.... Father.... they seemed happy but worried at the same time. Their happiness was a mask. He sighed. How did the four of them end up like this?
A smile.
He could not help it. The image of that male came to mind. The red, white, and black. Ewan.

Not far away, Ewansiha still slept. His whole body was stretched out, utterly relaxed and comfortable in the hollow between two roots of a gnarled low acacia tree. It's branches bent down in such a way that it was like sleeping under or inside of a living cave, with the vegetation lending it walls. It wasn't often you found a place like this out here.
He didn't miss the younger lion in his sleep, unaware he was gone and no longer used to waking when his mother or sibling moved in a den. It'd been sucha long time since he'd shared his sleeping space with anyone. Or travelled with them, at that.
He was still surprised he hadn't managed to scare Dumu off.

"Sleeping..."
He murmured. The image that came to him was the still shot of the lion resting peacefully sprawled out under the acacia tree they had found the day before. He was so used to sleeping with his family when he was younger, wedged between his large father and his little brother, Dream Diving usually keot them up but it still felt safe with them so close by. However, when he went to live with Usufii as Aki did with Aka, he started to sleep alone. It was hos own choice and he regretted it. His Dream Dive effectiveness was diminishing. He didn't have any dreams, none what so ever. It was.... eerie.
After another gulp, he hopped to his feet and headed back.
Upon his return, the lion still laid there, awake or asleep, he did not know. With a soft purr, he crouched low and moved around to his side. Easing himself down, Dumu yawned and rested his head against his shoulder. He never saw himself leaning on anyone due to the fact of being short irked him beyond life, but with Ewan... it seemed different. Throughoout their time together, not once had he exploded with rage with the mention of 'short'. Strange. What was stranger was that the male stuck with him this long. Anyone else would leave the dead-weight male.
Dumu pressed his head against him and closed his eyes trying to fall back to sleep.

"Morning Dumu."
One blue eye opened a fraction, looking down at the red fur against the white. Almost like mothers or No, Ewan thought. It was comforting somehow, that Dumu had red fur, something he had always thought of as being a family trait. This closeness was also something he considered to be something one did with family.
But he barely knew Dumu. It was odd how much he cared about him, really, since they were new friends. Perhaps it was Dumus nature or how he'd been unhappy with his tutor. Maybe, his cynical sidee offered, it was because he was the first lion he'd met in so long that he'd latched on so.

Without opening his lilac eyes, he smiled. With a soft purr, he stretched out and with a soft crack, he returned back to Ewan's flank and rested his head.
"Morning, sir...."
He purred. Dumu was glad that his Touch Images weren't as strong anymore and frankly, they didn't come as much as they used to. It was a slight relief that he didn't have to worry about invading Ewan's mind whenever they touched. Out of impulse, he licked out and opened an eye a fraction. He had always done this with his father and mother, sometimes his brother if he found the younger sibling wandering off at night.
"By the looks of how spread out you were, I assume you were quite comfortable. Did you sleep well?"
The demi-god asked softly, still a bit tired and knowing Ewan had just woke up, he probably didn't want a lion "yelling" in his ear first thing in the morning. The young male smiled to him and rested his head back down.

Sir?
"I slept well enough. You?" He smiled, and let his eye fall closed again. They needn't get up for anything, not yet, and besides - lions sleep a lot of the time, don't they? It was comfortable, resting together.

Dumu purred softly and nuzzled the male and moved out his limps and stretched out his body to drap over the older male's. He purred to himself and smiled. A belly full of water and a soft, fuzzy lion nearby. He felt a lot better here than he did back at his mentor's. He purred louder as he rolled onto his side, his head against Ewan's side.
"That's good...."
He closed his eyes softly and smiled. He was glad that Ewan wasn't bothered with his presence at all. Yawning, he turned around and curled up against the other male, stroking his fur softly.
"Your fur's so soft..."

"Not really, Dumu. Your fur would be just as soft if you cleaned it better."
Ewan sighed, and leaning so he could reach him better, he started to clean the smaller lions tuft of mane-fur. Ewan would have to teach him how to look after himself better someday, but for now it was a nice platonic way of showing affection for him.

"Well... I never cleaned my fur before. My parents always did for me. So I guess.... I never learned how to."
Dumu purred and moved back a bit for Ewan to clean up. It felt strange not having the familiar form and sent of his father or mother behind him, their tongue cleaning off the mess he'd make of himself whenever he'd go out and play./ It was a strange, but he was starting to get used to it now. Ewan was sort of special to him and the only friend he had out here. He had almost forgotten about Umo, he was probably busy with his own family by now. Besides, he was a son of a God, he was expected to be able to take care of himself. However, that was not the case....
"Ewan... what do we do now?"

"Turn over?" Ewan nudged with the top of his short muzzle, needing to reach Dumu's other side to fully clean the red and white fur. He'd always groomed himself a bit, affectionately groomed his mother back when she'd done it and occasionally given his sibling a few quick licks. It was pretty much normal for him. They'd been a close family when he was a cub. It was only as they'd grown older that he and Nogea had struck out on their own - and Rahima had chosen to follow her wanderlust once more.
At which point, he'd taken over grooming himself completely.

Dumu obliged and rolled onto his back, leaning back against him, purring to himself. It was not exactly the answer he was looking for. He was thinking more of what they should do now. Where were they going? What were they going to do? He wanted to know so he could prepare a little, but perhaps that would be a little pointless. He had nothing to do really and pretty much a hindrance. Not that he'd that. He looked at the other lion and smiled to himself. He was handsome and nice, he was very kind especially to someone like him, a stranger and a young juvenile. He'd make a wonderful father, that was for sure. He could not hlep but admire him for it.
"You remind me of my Dad a little..."

"Really? What was he like? I've never had a father...nor met one."
Ewans ears flicked forward curiously. His mother had mentioned a mate who'd - the current opinion of the family- lied about being a god mortal disguise. Probably lied about his name too. So a false name, a flase identity and a few markings were all they had of the twins sire.
He'd listen while he cleaned fur.

"Well... he's a.....bit different than others. He's big and strong and protective of me and my brother. My Dad's kind, nice, sweet at times, and he loves my mom. But he always wears this blindfold over his eyes, I know why but I never bugged him about it. He sort of... has a troubled past that he thinks of when he looks at us, the family. I sometimes wonder if he thinks of us as a disappointment the way we are now. My brother becoming mean and distant and me... out here alone. My mother is with him but that is about all I know."
He sighed and rolled his head back and looked up into the sky. His father was so hard to read, even his expressions, his thoughts, his memories. It was hard.
"But you got to love him either way. Athrun.... my Dad..... and the G-" he cut off. Was it wise to tell him that his father.....-no, he had been truthful to Ewan this far, he trusted him. Besides, what could he do even if he knew?
"And the God of Loneliness."

"Hmm....I still find it odd that I spent so long praying for an abstract God of Lonliness, when I was lost and ready to give up on life, expecting some...wishgranter to appear and save me...and instead I run into you, his son, and I learn that while I never met a perfect immortal, I rather prefer the idea the gods have families like we do...and I don't think I would have though to have wished for such good company as I have found with you."
It was quite a long speech, honest and punctuated with toughtful pauses, purrs and affectionate cleaning licks. Ewan didn;t deviant from the task at paw but he was clearly find with the demi-god status of his friend.

Dumu purred-chuckled and nuzzled back against him.
"I am glad you see me what way, Ewan. I don't normally tell others that I am the son of Athrun, but a few know of my abilities. Being a son of a god gets to know other children of the rest of them, you know?"
He smiled and purred, perfectly content with where he was and who he was with. In truth, this was better than his entire stay with Usufii. No training, no solo hunting, good company, and a nice, warm body to sleep beside, Ewan gave him all that. He felt a bit guilty that Ewan was cleaning him and yet he got nothing in return. He reached over to the older male's flank, licking his fur softly making sure that it was straight and free of stray pieces of dirt and grass.
"So.... I'm a sign?"
