I always do wonder. Would the world be better off. Without any religion? Any belief in that elusive higher power?
Religion in the past and present has been the cause of wars, sacrifice, death, etc. History proves that Religion has caused so many problems in the world. So many things that go wrong because of the belief in a higher power!
I am not saying religion is bad. I am not even agreeing that the world would be better off with religion. I just want to discuss this with everyone.
Religion has helped many.
But it is also the cause for so much death and mistreatment.
What proof is there of gods existence? NONE What proof is there that god does'nt exist? NONE
There is no proof on either side... So where can the smart stand?
I will tell you where. Searching for the truth.
So tell me your opinions.
Is religion nothing but a problem? Is religion good?
Or am I going to hell for even questioning the "superficial god"
I am not relgious. And I am not athiest.
I am centered. I dont fall on either side because neither side can back their claims. Got proof? Give it to me in a PM then.
Ohh yea for all you idiots who have bad vocab, or have been taught that the words "Athiest and Agnostic" relate to the devil heres an update!
Athiest: Believes there is no god. Believes there is no Devil, Believes in no Higher Power!
Agnostic: Believes that there is no real proof to gods existence. And no proof of that he does'nt exist.
Religious: Believes in any higher power.
(I know some of the definitions are not entirely correct. Iam toning it down for all ages)
So this Is what I want you to do.
State your name~
Then what you are *Religious, Agnostic, Athiest*
Then state your opinion I posted this in the actualy ED of Gaia. But I thought I would share it with all you guys! WOOT

Just call me Crayons. I prefer not to say I'm religious, agostic, or atheist, because I don't think I'm any of those. Just an open-minded person. 3nodding
And South Park already took care of this. wink
But seriously. We're human, I'm sure even without religion there to influence us we'd still fight and kill and such.
Is religion nothing but a problem? I think so some days, but some people live as a good person solely on the idea that they'll get into Heaven that way, so it might be better off if they believe that.
Is religion good? It gives people something to believe in, so I guess so. But that's like lying to a kid and saying Santa is real or the Tooth Fairy. It can only go on for so long with the kid, but religious people let it go on their entire lives. I don't think that's healthy. Some won't even accept the idea that their deity is not real because of the lack of proof, while others say that it's a matter of faith.
Either way, is religion good? I wouldn't know for sure.
Yeah, don't nitpick too much at me, okay? It's hard to sum it all up. =X

This is impossible to explain to most people but I am a part of nearly every religion that I know of at this very moment. I've tried explaining this to many people including Teenage_logic and I hope he has finally gotten it, and understands what I mean.
Anyone with questions about my thought on religion or wants to know what i mean by I'm a part of every religion feel free to ask me about it, and if you do want to ask me about it make sure you have time on your hands because it could take a long time to explain.

Religion is obselete, not that many people would like to admit it. Humans would survive without Religion, but our system is so heavily based upon religion no one would be willing to change it very easily. Religion is just like saying "magic" is real, which it is not. I really don't expect anyone to do a thing about the matter though. The reason Religion has prevailed so long is because people still have events in their lives or subjects in their lives that they cannot explain. This is due to a lack of information achieved through laziness, being uninformed, or a refusal to accept facts.
At this point Religion is really holding humanity back, but I expect it to be a very long time, if ever, that Religion ever does dissappear. Religions are very intelligent and indoctrinate children at a young age through their parents.

Atheist.
The main problem with religion is how much some people depend on them and things like evangelicalism.

I don't exactly believe our dependancy to believe is a problem, perhaps like the human need to have things explained. For example, how the Greeks thought fire was made, or why hurricanes happen, etc. The only thing I find bad about religions is the fact that they each have so many devout fundamentalists.

I for one, am not that religious, but religion I think is kind of like a little guide book to life. They all have one thing in common they teach people how to be a better person. Sometimes people take it way to far and personally causing a lot of wars only because they think that one religion is better than the other. I mean there are as many different religions as there are people. I also think religion has a lot to do with psychology.

Hmm, religion, eh? The truth is all in the bible. Read and analyze. Everything stated there, has happened, and is happening this very moment. It's quite interesting that you ask, "Would the world be better off. Without any religion?" Can't think of the verse, but in "Revelation", it states that there will be a time, when the governments will realize that "Religions" are the cause of all war and arguments. And they will get rid of them all. except one, of course. One group of people will be the one's not to fall under their control. I'm a Jehovah's Witness. :] That's all i've got to say. Message me if you want. Don't hate me. This is my opinion and it's all backed up with verses from the bible. It's not only words coming out of my mouth. I respect everyone's belifes. But, I truly, strongly, believe that this system of things will end soon.

No. The world is better because of religion, whether it seems that way to you or not. We'd be in a lot more trouble if there was none.

Religion is an inescapable matter. A religion is basically a belief or a set of beliefs which guide one's lifestyle. When saying 'religion', we're not only takling about Christians and Muslims, but also atheists. The term 'atheist' has been defined, in general, two ways over the years. The first, which is more common, is one who denies the existence of a god. Recently, in many atheist groups, the term has been re-defined to mean one who disbelieves in a God due to the lack of all present evidence. The latter definition can be the def. of agnosticism, which basically means one who doesn't know, but is leanient to disbeleif because of the lack of evidence to the contrary. In truth, evidence for the existence of God is everywhere, like the Bible, creation, and man. But a Christian cannot defend the existence of God through something which is said to be His Word, because disbelief in God automatically ensures disbelief in His Word. If one is to prove God's existence, he must do so in a way in which the opposition can understand. The difficult thing about Christianity is that, according to Christians, the Bible and the Universe, which are both directly from God, are to main evidences, but opposition doesn't believe that the Bible is true nor do they believe that Creation came from a higher being. There is no neutrality. One can try, but it only comes down to one thing; God chooses certain people to believe, and leaves others to deny or disbelieve.
