Is it concidered FanGirlish if you start up a FanFic on a character from this show paired up with your own made-up character? If it is then.
I must be a fangirl of Lex Luthor. I had heard these stories get bashed quite often though. Mine sure did. emo

Really? Maybe you can answer what I did wrong with my Lex/made-up girl fanfic.
I thought it turned out really great I'm writing them down in notebooks and it's turning out to be a fanfic series. I just don't know what I did wrong when I posted up the first part to it.
It got bashed big time after it had gotten read.

I can pm it to you. Be warned I have a problem with spelling things correctly. And it'll take me a few minutes to post it up. But I'll tell you what it's about here.
Basically it's about Lex ofcourse but he meets this girl who's a secretary but she has more secrets then he has in life. She has a bad life in the fanfic. I'll post it up to you in parts.
I'll send you the first part of it in a pm maybe you can tell me why they didn't like it after getting to know the girl Lex is with.

I obviously haven't read it, but the problem is probably that original characters (your made-up girl) tend to become writer-immersion, i.e. you see the character as yourself or the proxy of you. That encourages bad writing techniques, generally because of Mary Sueism, that undermine the story itself and make it hard for your readers to get into.

I guess I will read it. I will try to be open minded seeing as I already have someone set with Lex in my mind. xp

*shudders* I hate mary-sue's and actually I cannot stand to put myself into fanfic's.
I created the girl for the story as her own character and shes really an in depth character as well.
Shes completely thought up but I'm still making up new stuff about her as I go along.

Then I have no idea. I wouldn't know without reading the fic.

It might even just have been the place you posted it, actually. This guild is cool, but on a lot of other sites there's a lot of hostility between people who have different ideas about who the characters are and, especially, who they're supposed to be with.

I think you should just post it here instead of pming people. Then everyone can read it and decide for themselves on what they think of it. Plus, you wouldn't have to keep pming people and wait minute after minute.

I second that thought.

No; it's called a Mary Sue and generally frowned upon by the majority of "fan fiction" writers. And that would the reason you got bashed.

So far thats what everyone has said in this thread. I took the major percautions on her not being a mary-sue shes a well thought out character and all.
But after that last post on my fanfic I just took it down I'm keeping it in my notebooks now. I figure if no one else wants to read them keep them hidden.
I would post it up for you guys to read it but... I have a very low self esteem when it comes to letting a bunch of people read my fanfic's anymore.
