The world was in a state of balance. Good and evil vied for dominance and order battled against chaos in a perfect balance.
Until the fabric between the barriers started to break and tear. The evil of the planes of hell started working their way into the world, tipping the balance into chaos.
The prophets spoke of a small group of people, sometimes even creatures, who, with their pure souls, would be able to permanently fix the barrier between the planes.
Wizards, warriors and heroes of all shapes and sizes rose up to fix the barrier. They could close the gaps, but not permanently. The gaps would eventually reopen or just open again somewhere else.
And then a small group, drawn together by random circumstance, find themselves battling a group of demons together.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There we go, a role-play that starts with fighting. Don't worry about profiles, just post and make sure your character is described well in the first post. Also, make sure that your character is different to everyone else's. I.E., same race, different class (wizard or fighter or archer). Try to be imaginative and don't, for any reason, god-mod.
Finally, I am limiting this role-play to 6 characters.
He flipped and lay against the ground as a demon attempted to impale him. His slender long sword lashed out, severing the demons legs before he lept to his feet and pierced it's heart.
Demon blood washed over his muscled body, getting caught in his brown cropped hair. His green eyes darted left and right before he backhanded a demon with his small shield and spun, digging deep into demon flesh with his sword. He lashed out with a foot covered with fine leather, his rich cloak flying around him.
He grinned as he leapt into battle, blocking and batting with his shield before striking with his sword.
Most people wouldn't have thought a rich merchant to be his own bodyguard, nor a renowned fighter, but Xavier Lornutran was known in these parts as being one of the best merchants to sell things through, for even though he charged for guarding your cargo, he didn't charge anything else if you wanted to sell through him.
He spun, a smile etched on his face as demons continued falling under his sword and shield.
Tis true though>
Imbri held up her palms up to the sky, completely motionless. Despite the blowing wind, even her green hair remained perfectly still. A few drops of rain fell into her palms, then more. Soon, there was a steady downpour raging down, the mage standing at the center. With a sudden crack, multiple lightening bolts crashed down from the heavens, striking the nearby demons. A few shrieked as they perished, but most quietly crumpled to the ground.
Brushing the water out of her eyes, the gnome's white eyes suddenly focused again, the rain dying. With a high pitched yelp, she summoned a fireball, poised to throw it at a high concentration of the monstrosities. She then promptly slipped and fell into the mud created by her rain. Then lit herself on fire with her own fireball.
"Gods damn it!" she shouted, rolling about in the mud to put out the fire. "Damn it to the deepest reaches of hell!!!"
Aya swung with his morning star, bludgeoning the side of a demon’s face away in one swing, leaving it to fall to the ground. The young cleric took in a deep breath, watching the onslaught rage on, but only until he was forced to swing again and yet again. The worshiper of St. Cuthbert was getting quite tired with all of the melee combat he was enduring, but he couldn’t give up, for nothing ever got done by giving up and he’d never get any strong without hardships. And so he charged in to the fray again, but this time he’d stop being stingy with his spells, for he had them for a reason.
He swung his morning star multiple times, dealing few lethal blows as he allowed himself to become surrounding. When he knew he was going to be overcome, and the enemies around him were sufficient, he enthralled the majority of them and began a story about a halfling who was too tall to be a halfling. While he spoke, he darted about, swinging he bludgeoning weapon at those who weren’t effected. Maybe not so much of a good idea, he was having a hard time regulating his breathing while entertaining demons as well as battling with them.
Xavier stared at the gnome who managed to light herself and was currently rolling in the mud. The rain she has summoned had rinsed the blood from his wounds and made him feel a little refreshed, if not soggy.
"Try and close the gate!" he yelled to the two spellcasters before he ran across a slid patch of ground towards the group of demons that were partially enthralled by the priest. A smile on his lips about the story he was telling, Xavier started working on the demons that weren't enthralled.
"I'm a little busy, what with the being on fire thing!" Imbri yelled, rising out of the muck like a mud phoenix. Wiping some of the mud and charred hair out her eyes, she stumbled over to the tear, focusing her energy on sealing the portal.
Her eyes grew distant again and her lips began to move, though no sound came out. With an impressive roar, the gate closed, lightening striking the spot where it had stood. It wasn't necessary, but gods it was fun.
(LoL You shall never cease to amuse me ^^)
Aya was relieved when he noted the assistance and continued his story. Apparently the main character in his story was born to a halfing couple, and over the years she grew to a monstrous height for a halfing, of 6’. Her name was Olivia, and the story itself was quite similar to the ugly duckling story, where in the end she found her prince charming that thought she, a tall halfing, was wonderful. Of course though, he went into much more detail than this to occupy time. Still, his breathing was getting worse and soon many of the demons would begin to attack again. But at least the gate was closed, and once they picked these creatures off they fight would be far in their favor.
So still the human cleric swung his morning star at those still attacking him; though again, the fight was getting much easier, especially with Xavier’s assistance.
remaining completly motionless, the dark stream whistled and whipped around, slaying all those who came near. the demon's bodies fell, showing no visable wounds, as though their very soul had been stripped from their lifeless bodies
Xavier, with help from the bard, continued to kill the demons who weren't entranced. It was getting a little hard for Xavier to resist, but he'd managed to secure a little amulet that helped him resist such enchantments, not that it did much.
When he sensed no threat from the remaining demons, he signalled for the bard to back up a little, for attacking one would probably wake them all and there were still enough to make life hell for a few seconds.
(I’ma cleric ^^ They learn Enthrall also. *Won’t steal all magic from DnD.* But I will a lot, lol)
The Cleric paused at the signal and lowers his morning star. He glanced about, and spotted a mage covered in mud. Perhaps she was wounded, for he had seen her lit up like a human torch not too long ago. While speaking his words he moved over to the mage, all eyes upon him as he continued to ramble on. Of course, there was only a minute left, max, of his rambling skills before he had to stop simply from a lack of ideas, but still, by then everyone should be prepared and he would be ready to cast a healing spell.
The merchant signalled for everyone to close in behind the demons were possible, not completely sure how long the cleric (swore blind only bards could ramble like that) could ramble for. He was also sure that their resolve might start to strengthen shortly, given any chance.
