Physical Apperiance -

Link appears as a young member of the human-like Hylian race. It is unlikely that his age ever exceeds 17 to 19 years at any point in the series, and appears first as a child in most games. though apparently, in most games he is closer to the age of 12 to 14. Every Link wears a green tunic, an undershirt (usually white, brown, or green, though Young Link from Ocarina of time does not wear one), and a long, floppy green cap, at least for part of each adventure, although the shades of green vary. In The Legend of Zelda:The Wind Waker, if the game is beaten one time link stays in his pajamas the second time. It is also a common sight to see him wearing light-colored pants (usually white or tan), although he has appeared barelegged in other games. Link’s hair is usually dark blond but was originally brown, and, strangely, was bright pink in the popular A Link To The Past. Link's eyes are most commonly green or blue. Link has long pointed ears resembling some conceptions of elves. These are apparently a distinctive trait of the Hylian race (and their descendants), which supposedly allows them to hear messages from the gods. In Twilight Princess, Link wears a visible chainmail shirt underneath his tunic. Older Links usually wear small silver or blue hoop earrings, as is the Hylian fashion. However, in episode 4 of the Adult Saga in the official Ocarina of Time manga series, "Link Vs. Link", Impa is seen giving a Link his earrings, describing it as a "rite of passage for young Sheikah men". He also bears a Triforce mark on his left hand, marking him as the one who will find the Triforce of Courage.

SKills -

Link is well known for making use of a variety of weapons and items, such as bombs, hookshot, boomerang, bow and arrow and pegasus boots that make him run extremely fast. He also is extremely agile, being able to perform quick jumps and flips, and very skilled, knowing how to perform magic and play instruments (ocarina, flute, drums, etc). He is also renowned for his fighting skill, such as his incredible boomerang and bow accuracy and most notably his excellent swordsmanship

Dexterity -

Link is left-handed, although this detail has changed over time, with his sword hand being different between games. The instruction booklet for The Adventure of Link describes Link setting off “with a magical sword in his left hand and a magical shield in his right”. In most games, he alternates hands, but this is due to sprite mirroring. Starting with The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Link holds his sword in his left hand and his shield in his right, no matter what direction he is facing. This occurs in the left and right-looking sprites. In The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, however, Link returns to alternately holding his weapon in the right or the left hand, depending on his orientation. At the beginning of the Four Swords Plus (Four Swords Adventures) manga, Link is referred to as the “left-handed hero” after defeating pirates that were raiding a Hylian town. In addition, Link's figurine description in The Wind Waker lists his "manual preference" as left. However, in the animated TV series, Link is right-handed. In the Wii version of Twilight Princess, Link is right-handed to better fit the game's control scheme. Because of this, the maps in the Wii version have also been mirrored. Due to a normal control scheme, the GameCube version Link remained left-handed

Fierce Deity Link

Fierce Deity Link is an alternate form of Link in the Nintendo 64 video game, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Unlike Ocarina of Time, Link doesn't need to wait seven years in order to assume an adult form, but instead acquires a rare mask named the Fierce Deity Mask. This mask turns young Link into an incredibly powerful nigh-invincible, demonic god warrior, armed with an enormous double-helix sword, capable of firing light beams. A Gossip Stone reveals that the mask contains the essences of every mask,The reason for its unrivaled power surpassing even that of Majora's Mask. Fierce Deity Link is also restricted from using any items besides bottles (which have strange effects when utilized). However, the use of this incredibly powerful mask is limited to boss battles only, although there is a clever glitch within the game that players can take advantage of in order to use it outside of boss battles.

GannonDorf - NON PLAYABLE!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Ganondorf is known as the King of the Gerudo, by virtue of being the only male in the tribe. Ganondorf learns of the legend of the Triforce and seeks to attain it with the aid of his surrogate mothers, Twinrova. He makes attempts to steal the sacred stones from the Gorons, Kokiri, and Zoras in order to enter the Sacred Realm, but is unable to. He eventually kills the King and chases Impa and Princess Zelda into hiding.

Noting that Link had attained the Sacred Stones for himself, Ganondorf uses this opportunity to seize the Triforce when Link removes the Master Sword, the final key to the Sacred Realm. However his unbalanced heart only allows him to recieve the Triforce of Power (with Wisdom and Courage going to Zelda and Link respectively). His Triforce piece allows him to cause numerous disasters for all of Hyrule, and in doing so, usurp the throne.

By the time seven years had passed, he had placed monsters in the Sages' temples to prevent them from hearing their "awakening call". Ganondorf is eventually able to capture the final sage - Princess Zelda, forcing Link into a direct confrontation. Although powerful, he is bested by Link. When Ganondorf is defeated, he destroys his tower, and transforms into the pig-like form seen in earlier games. Zelda assists Link in holding Ganon still while he finishes him off. Finally, the Seven Sages imprison Ganondorf in the Sacred Realm

The origin of the mask was only mentioned once in the game, in an explanation from the Happy Mask Salesman. After finding out that Link's first attempt at recovering the Mask from the thief failed, he tells Link that Majora's Mask is an accursed item from legend, said to have been used by an ancient tribe in its hexing rituals. The Mask grants its wielder's wishes, but possesses them with an evil, apocalyptic power. According to this legend, the troubles caused by Majora's Mask were so great that the ancient ones, fearing catastrophe, "sealed the Mask in shadow forever", preventing its misuse. But by the time of Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, the legendary tribe had vanished, and thus any other information about the origin and true nature of the Mask was lost.Being trapped in the shadow makes it unknown how the Happy Mask Salesman obtained it; although eventually, Skull Kid and his fairy sibling companions Tatl and Tael managed to ambush him and steal it. Skull Kid began to wear the Mask, and eventually, it possessed his wishes, weakened his inhibitions and brought out his repressed feelings, such as anger and loneliness. By the beginning of the game, Skull Kid has already used the Mask to cause trouble in Termina, from small evils such as turning Kafei, a soon-to-marry young man, into a child, to greater destructive actions, like sealing the Four Giants, Termina's protectors, behind Masks, causing sudden weather and geographical changes that threaten to kill the many Terminian races.

Tingle - NON PLAYABLE!

Tingle is a man of 35, but short and immature. He believes he is a fairy child like the Kokiri (and dresses accordingly). He floats high above the ground using a red balloon, and while he’s in the air he paints useful maps. Seeing Link’s outfit, he shares his "magic words" (Tingle, Tingle! Kooloo-Limpah!) and sells Link his maps.

Happy Mask Man NONPLAYABLE!

Link met the Happy Mask Salesman in Hyrule, where he had set up shop in Hyrule Castle Town. Having learned the legends of the ancient Terminans and uncovered information about Majora’s Mask, he set out to find it and add it to his collection. On his way back to Hyrule he was confronted by the Skull Kid, who knocked him out and stole Majora’s Mask. He encounters Link, though it is unclear whether or not he recognized him, and employs him to retrieve Majora’s Mask.

There is more to this character than meets the eye. His facial expressions do not gradually change, but rather flash into a new emotion as if he were swapping masks. The five children on the moon all have an identical hair style and skull structure. One of the children even comments "Are you going to be a mask salesman too?" This character also mysteriously vanishes when walking away from Link and the Skull Kid. It is unknown what his tie to the mask really is because of these oddities and his desire for having it so badly.

The salesman teaches Link the Song of Healing, playing a rather large organ, though only three notes are used for the song

Princess Zelda - NONPLAYABLE!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Zelda is the daughter of the King of Hyrule, and eventually the Seventh Sage and the holder of the Triforce of Wisdom. The true heir to the royal family, she is of the Hylian race. She begins the game as a young girl blessed with prophetic abilities. In a dream of symbolic importance, she senses Ganondorf’s treachery and predicts Link’s arrival before either occurs. When Link meets her for the first time in Hyrule Castle Courtyard, she sends him on a quest to collect the three Spiritual Stones and protect the Triforce from Ganondorf. When Ganondorf attacks Hyrule Castle, Zelda and her nurse maid Impa, a Sheikah, flee the castle on horseback. The princess throws the Ocarina of Time into the moat in front of the Hyrule Castle Town for Link to retrieve. When Link returns seven years later, he encounters Zelda. She claims to be Sheik, survivor of the Sheikah tribe. It is Sheik who gives Link clues to the locations of the various temples and teaches him special songs enabling him to warp to them at will. After the final temple guardian is conquered, Zelda risks her life, revealing her identity and that she is the Seventh Sage. She informs Link that both she and he hold pieces of the Triforce and gives him the Light Arrows, but moments later is captured by Ganondorf and imprisoned in a pink crystal in his tower at the former site of Hyrule Castle. Following Ganondorf’s defeat, she is freed and assists Link in his escape from the collapsing fortress. She also helps Link defeat Ganon by holding him in place with her magic while Link delivers the final blow. After Hyrule is saved, Zelda uses the Ocarina of Time to send Link back to the past, allowing him (and Hyrule) to regain seven years lost to tragedy.

A Zora -
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Zoras were originally fire-breathing aquatic enemies that appeared in the earlier, two-dimensional games of the series. With the arrival of Ocarina of Time, Zoras were reintroduced as a more intelligent, anthropomorphic race of peaceful creatures with a developed culture and society. As of Oracle of Ages, official terminology has been defined to differentiate the two species; the hostile enemies are known as "river Zoras" and the kindly humanoids are called "sea Zoras" (in the 3D Zelda games, Octoroks often serve the same purpose as the river Zoras). It is generally accepted that "Zora" refers to sea Zoras, as they are the more prominent of the two species, whereas river Zoras have been given other names such as "Zora's spawn" or "Zolas". The Oracle games are the only two games to feature both river and sea Zoras, and elaborate on the difference between them.

Zoras resemble other marine creatures in their body structure. Many do not wear clothing, though certain members(the most important ones) of their species do wear human dress, or (as shown by the guards in Twilight Princess) wear a helmet that completely encases their head. They are generally covered in silver scales, which give them a pale blue sheen from a distance, and they have dark blue spots on their extremities. Where humans might have long hair, average Zoras have rear-hanging caudal extensions of their heads shaped like the tails of dolphins, perhaps as a cephalized form of dorsal fin. These tails undulate periodically, which gives a Zora's head the unique semblance of a fish. Zoras have two large ulnar fins located distally on their forearms, and some have smaller fins at their ankles. They are sometimes depicted as having webbed feet and hands. They lack ears in the traditional sense, but do have pronounced noses. In previous games in the series, Zoras had no visible gills, yet could breathe underwater, but in Twilight Princess, Zoras had gills on their abdomen, analogous to the placement of lungs on a human. As with Deku Scrubs and Gorons, Zoras who are important to the storyline are physically distinct from the general public.

The gender of common Zoras is not well defined in the video games, as their physical appearance is not wholly conclusive on the matter. Princess Ruto and Lulu are notably female, having distinclty rounder body features, and a semblance of breasts, which more clearly define their femininity if not serving any practical use. The Zora Queen (Queen Rutela) in Twilight Princess is also female. Her appearance is different from that of Princess Ruto as she lacks Ruto's wide head and extra eyes. Her head and face are much more humanoid (her overall appearance seems to be based off that of mermaids and is very beautiful), and she has what appear to be scale-like growths which give her the impression of having hair. She seems to have a distinct red coloration/aura, although she appears as a ghost and thus her coloration in life would not be truly known. In Twilight Princess, a Zora referred to as 'she' helps with the river boat-rental on the Zora River. Laruto the former Earth Sage in The Wind Waker, who is also female isn't as noticibly female as Ruto or Rutela, though her dress indicates she is female. However, it should be noted that most females in The Wind Waker didn't have explicit female characteristics. Furthermore, the Zoras in Twilight Princess had female vocalization (for human ears), when the player listened to them. Also in Twilight Princess Prince Ralis is male and bears the same similarities to his fellow Zora's aside from being Zora royalty and thus having his own distinct appearance.

Certain other features of the Zoran anatomy are revealed when the player can inhabit the body of the Zora Mikau in Majora's Mask. When Link assumes his streamlined Zoran form he can swim with great ease and agility, using his forearm fins to perform barrel rolls or to jump out of the water. Moreover, these fins are specialized for Link's fighting needs. They can grow larger to serve as sharp-edged weapons similar to swords, and even be projected as twin boomerangs; they retract again when not in use. Link's right fin also grows to become his shield when defending. Additionally, Zoras who possess magical power have the ability to create electric fields around their bodies as a defense mechanism when swimming, much like electric eels. This ability has only been seen/used in Majora's Mask. All Zoras are powerful swimmers (in fact, powerful enough to swim up waterfalls).

It is also revealed in Majora's Mask that Zoras lay eggs to reproduce. Zora eggs need to be kept in cold, clean water in order to develop healthily, and every egg from the same clutch must be kept together in order for them to hatch. Newborn Zoras are tadpole-like with a circular body and a long, skinny tail ending in a fluke. Zora's may also be able to breed with Hylians, as evidenced by Princess Ruto's love for Link and mammalian secondary sex characteristics.

A Kokiri-
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Kokiri are a humanoid fairy folk from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time who inhabit the Kokiri Forest. Cautious, child-like, and secretive, the Kokiri believe that they will die if they leave the forest (this is contradicted by the Kokiri appearing in the Lon Lon Ranch in one scene, however; it is implied in other ways that this misinformation has been fed to them by the Great Deku Tree). Therefore, most Kokiri never leave the forest and know nothing about the outside world and instead, only the magics of the forest. Though they appear as children, the Kokiri are actually ageless and never grow old. This idea could be influenced by the story of Peter Pan as he never grew old and had a guardian fairy watching over him. Each Kokiri has a guardian fairy that plays the role of friend, parent, guardian, and teacher. They are watched over by the Great Deku Tree, and later Saria, the Sage of Forest. It appears Mido is the boss of the Kokiri. In the Manga, it's been confimed that Kokiri feed on the fruit of the forest.

The Kokiri are "the spirits of the forest" and were probably created by the Deku Tree. Kokiri always wear green tunics and have pointy ears. The males wear green hats and the females have green headbands. There have been two records of Kokiri sages known to have aided the legendary hero Link. The first is Saria, the Sage of Forest, whom was awakened by the Hero of Time after Link completed the Forest Temple. The other is Fado, the Sage of Wind, who appears in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Also known for his excellent skill with the violin, Fado stayed in the Wind Temple and prayed for the Master Sword, until he was killed by the evil Ganondorf, who removed his soul. Fado does not make an appearance in the Kokiri Forest in Ocarina of Time for some reason, but instead has a recycled name from another Kokiri who had the name first: the blonde, twin-bunned female on the large stump in the Kokiri Forest whose name isn't revealed in the game. An interesting note is that all named Kokiri, except for Saria because she was named after a town from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, have their names created from the concatenation of 2 words from the solfege musical scale "do re mi fa so la ti do." Mido = Mi + Do. Fado = Fa + Do. This is hinted in the Wind Waker where the Deku Tree says the Koroks once appeared human, but no longer take on that form. Korok and Kokiri also sound similar. In the Wind Waker, the Wind Sage, Fado, who helps Link, is a Kokiri and says to find his descendant, who turn out to be Makar, who is a Korok.

A Gerudo-

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Gerudo are a tribe of thieves from Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and The Legend of Zelda: Four Sword Adventures. Their race consists entirely of women, but according to information given in Ocarina of Time, one man is born every hundred years, and is destined to become the king of the Gerudo tribe. Ganondorf, the main antagonist of the series, is a Gerudo and in Ocarina of Time, he was that generation's sole male Gerudo and their king.

The Gerudo live primarily in the desert of Hyrule, which is referred to as the Gerudo Desert and is far to the west of Hyrule Castle Town in the Ocarina of Time. Their territory is marked with an intricately designed fortress, which is constantly guarded. However, in Four Swords Adventures, they lived in tents.

Several hints in Ocarina of Time explain that Gerudo women are often found looking for Hylian men, assumedly for reproduction purposes. Gerudo women are generally short-tempered and aggressive, willing to take on any man trespassing on their ground. Though the Gerudo Desert exists in Twilight Princess, the Gerudo race (with the exception of Ganondorf) is mysteriously absent. It is not known if the race died out or if the entire desert was not presented in the game, having them and their civilization in some unexplored corner of the desert. It is noted, nevertheless, that the barmaid in Castle Town, Telma, strongly resembles Gerudo women from previous games, suggesting that the Gerudo may have integrated into the dominant Hylian culture at some point and left the Gerudo Desert to live in Castle Town among the Hylian people. Considering the monsters from earlier games, Gerudorm (Geldarm) and Gerudoman (Geldman) it could be that the word "Gerudo" is more significant to the desert itself than the Gerudo race that dwells in it.

Hylians -

Royalty

Hylians are a human-like race from the fictional world of Hyrule. However, there are some instances where Hylians refer to themselves as humans instead. According to Twilight Princess, the Hylians were known as the closest race to the gods, but it turned out to be false. The best-known Hylians are the legendary Hero Link and Princess Zelda.

Hylians were the first race to establish organized civilization in ancient Hyrule, though in Twilight Princess, the Oocca are said to have created Hylians. Unlike several other races in the series, Hylians tend to live in highly populated cities. The term "Hylian" generally refers to a member of the Hylian race, as opposed to "Hyrulean", which refers to any inhabitant of Hyrule. According to the A Link to the Past instruction manual, Hylians were born with magic-infused blood, endowing them with psychic powers and skill in wizardry. It is also believed that the Hylians' pointed ears allow them to hear the messages of the gods. They are sometimes called elves.

In Ocarina of Time, most Hylians seem to live within the fortified walls of Hyrule Castle Town or the small, neighboring village of Kakariko. Besides living in the bustling marketplace, other citizens of the kingdom inhabit territory outside of the protected city.

The ancient language of the Hylians, known simply as Hylian, is derived from Japanese hiragana, katakana, and romaji[2]. However, the Hylian shown in Twilight Princess is merely English letters in a hard-to-read font. Since the Wii's version is flipped horizontally, this makes it even harder to read.

Also, the goddesses always choose the Hero of Hyrule to be a Hylian.

Gorons -

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Gorons are physically larger than an average human. They appear to be muscular, but their large bellies provide contrast. They maintain a strict diet of rocks, iron and water which might be the cause of the development of a rocky formation on their backs. From the size of the Goron Elder's growths in Majora's Mask, it would seem that these continue to grow throughout their lives. Due to their enormous weight, they are helpless in water because they will sink to the bottom. They don't seem to need to breathe though, as is seen in Twilight Princess. It is apparent in the Goron world that some Gorons grow to exaggeratedly huge sizes (though very rare), as seen in the case of Biggoron, who was several hundred times larger than the normal species and his younger brother Medigoron. Another feature of Goron biology is their ability to curl into a fetal position (with their heads tucked between their legs). This is the Goron's position when left unattended, or when they are sleeping. Gorons use this form for transportation as well. Best illustrated in Majora's Mask, Gorons roll rapidly at speeds up to 60-70 MPH. Gorons who are endowed with fairy magic can grow metal spikes, which can be used as weapons. Gorons are also resistant to heat, to the point of being able to walk through lava. This is a valuable capability when searching for food inside mountains. It has been suggested that Gorons in fact are made of a rocklike material. It could explain most of their characteristics and the fact Gibdos aren't interested in them (as shown by Goron Link in Majora's Mask). Most of them also have tattoos on their chests (usually present on both pectoral muscles and occasionally on other parts of their bodies), which are often tribal-style symbols and the most common symbol is a spiky pawprint shape resembling the Goron's Ruby (belonging to the tribe leader, Darunia, in Ocarina of Time). They consider the Rock Sirloin, and Rock Brisket to be a delicacy. Although, what Gorons consider to be most appealing is a shield. Perhaps only metal shields, but it seems they crave Iron in their feed. Some shields, being mostly Iron, would suffice as a King's buffet. A confusing quote from a Goron suggests that Gorons can find green rocks, which are certainly not present in their mountain, but apparently a vital part of their diet, most likely mimicking the human's diet of vegetables, and a healthy diet consisiting of food without impurities

A Deku -

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Deku Scrub (Deku Nuts in the Japanese version. Deku is the Japanese word for "wooden figurine") race consists of several species of plant-like humanoids first introduced in Ocarina of Time. Deku Scrubs have leaves on their heads where humans would have hair. They often have red, glowing eyes, and their mouths are short, hollow tubes. Deku Link is capable of skipping on the surface of bodies of water for awhile, though he will eventually sink. Deku Scrubs habitually shoot Deku Nuts out of their mouths, bearing some similarity to Octoroks. Deku Scrubs' bodies are comprised entirely of wood and leaves; they perish quickly if set on fire. Gibdos pointedly ignore Deku Link; perhaps since they lack flesh and bone. Deku Scrubs typically reside in Deku Flowers or similar leafy burrows, from which they may emerge at any time. Deku Scrubs are sometimes seen flying in Majora's Mask, though their flying methods are somewhat varied. Koroks use similar means to fly great distances in The Wind Waker. In general, Deku Scrubs are rather territorial, pelting those who approach their hiding places with Deku Nuts. They are typically fearful creatures, and will hide or run from any potential threat that is not halted by their nut-spitting defenses.
There are 3 main types of Deku scrubs that are typically encountered in the various Zelda games in which the Deku appear

Sheikahs -

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Sheikah were an ancient clan of ninja-like warriors that swore to protect the Hylian Royal Family, often times referred to as the "shadows"' of the Hylians. At the time of Ocarina of Time, the supposedly last true living member of the tribe is Impa, Princess Zelda's nursemaid. Little is known of the tribe, but it has been implied that the Sheikah were incredibly agile and had magical prowess similar to Hylians.

From the few facts that have been established about the Sheikah in the games and game manuals as well as pictures, we can assume that the Sheikah had red eyes, as Impa has red eyes in the Ocarina of Time and so does Sheik in his/her Sheikah guise. Impaz in Twilight Princess also has red eyes, and is implied to be descended from Impa, though it is not explained whether or not she is a full-blooded Sheikah.

Dodongo
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Dodongos are a race of dinosaur-like creatures. They first appeared as minibosses in the original Legend of Zelda, accompanied by the the Old Man's famous hint, "DODONGO DISLIKES SMOKE", which reveals their vulnerability to bombs. The easiest way to kill one would be to feed multiple bombs to them and have them explode inside the beast. More tricky but less expensive was having a bomb explode outside of the Dodongo, and have it walk into the smoke cloud. It would be confused, during which a single sword strike killed them. They have caused all kinds of trouble throughout the series, including pestering the Goron race in Ocarina of Time. Bomb Bags are often made from their stomachs. Many are known to explode when struck or defeated.

Types of Dodongos -

Baby Dodongo — These Dodongo larvae burrow in and out of the ground, wiggling towards their prey when attacking. If struck, they flash and bounce around, and ultimately fall limp and explode. This explosion can be used to destroy bomb-susceptible structures.

Dodongo — These standard Dodongo have hard scales as armor, breathe fire and are often seen in mountains and caverns. Their tail is their weak point, and when struck they whip around and blast fire in the direction of their backside. This version can be tricked into eating a bomb
in most games though the difficulty varies.

A Reference to the kitsune, Keatons were introduced in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask as friendly, foxlike beings with three tails and a yellow skin. When they reappeared in The Minish Cap, both their looks and attitude had changed. In The Minish Cap, they were bipeds with either a grey or brown skin and armed with a knife. They attack by dashing with their knife in front of them. When hit, the player loses health and Rupees

Mothula

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Mothula was first featured as a boss in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. It was the boss of the Skull Woods Dungeon in the Dark World. It was vulnerable to several weapons but could be most easily defeated by using the Fire Rod.

Mothula also appeared as the boss of the Poison Moth's Lair in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons. This Mothula had fire based attacks and the ability to summon smaller moths to attack Link.

In The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Mothulas descended from boss status to being a regular enemy (Although one did appear as a mini-boss in the Forbidden Woods area, guarding the boomerang). These creatures have many attacks, from diving at the player, and shooting Morths, which, when attached to Link, slows down his movement tremendously. To defeat them, it is wise to use the boomerang to disable their wings, and then attack them while they are on the ground, avoiding the Morths they shoot. The easiest way to defeat a Mothula, however, is simply to shoot it with a fire arrow. If a Mothula is on fire and makes contact with another Mothula before it dies, that Mothula will catch on fire and die too. This trick is very useful in the Savage Labyrinth when Link faces two flying Mothulas simultaneously. Alternatively, an Ice Arrow will cause a Mothula to freeze in midair, fall to the ground, and shatter. Not all Mothulas have wings, and Winged Mothulas appear later on in the Forest Haven and Savage Labyrinth. A Mothula was the boss of the Poison Moth's Lair in Oracle of Seasons, possibly meaning that they originate from Holodrum. There is also evidence of them being descended from the Gohma due to the symbol in their eyes and the place they live. It can then be deduced that they are related to the Magtail.

Snapper

A turtle which bites its prey with its sharp beak in Majora's Mask. It always protects its soft underbelly by walking on all fours and spinning with emerged spikes at its enemies. As a Deku Scrub, Link can dive into and shoot out of a Deku Flower while a Snapper passes over the flower to kill it instantly. It is also possible to flip them over by pounding the ground as a Goron or by using a bomb, which leaves them helpless. Snappers provide a crude form of transportation for Gekkos or in this case you can ride them, which aim to protect themselves from Link's attacks by using the Snappers' unique offensive and defensive abilities instead of their own.

Wolfos-

Gray Wolfos
First appearing in Ocarina of Time, the Wolfoses are anthropomorphic wolves that attack Link with their claws and sometimes somersault backwards when attacked. One appeared as somewhat of a mini-boss in the Lost Woods, and Link could also meet them in the Forest Temple. Striking a Wolfos's tail will kill it in one hit. In Majora's Mask, they appeared in place of White Wolfoses in Snowhead, once the boss of the Snowhead Temple was defeated and spring returned to the mountains. One Wolfos also appeared in Sakon's Hideout in Ikana Canyon, which would be fought during the Couple's Mask Quest.

White Wolfos
Completely white, cold-habituated counter-part of the Wolfos. They resemble Arctic Wolves. They are far larger than standard Wolfoses and are slightly more defensive. In Ocarina of Time, they appear only in the Ice Cavern and the Gerudo Training Ground and they are limited (Though in Master Quest there are many more in the Ice Cavern.) In Majora's Mask, they are the same size as a regular Wolfoses. A hit to the tail will also end in a one hit kill. These Wolfoses are also in Twilight Princess, with the ability to burrow into the snow (although they have lost the ability to defend themselves with their claws). They are commonly found in snowy areas.

Link's horse, a light sorrel mare with flaxen mane and tail. In Ocarina of Time, Epona was born and raised at the Lon Lon Ranch. After the ranch was taken over from Talon and Malon by the cruel Ingo, Link saved Epona from being given to Ganondorf by winning her in a race. Later, in Majora's Mask, the Skull Kid stole her, and Epona ended up at the Romani Ranch in Termina. Link reobtained her there. Epona also makes a brief appearance in The Minish Cap, however, this time she's only seen pulling a cart of Lon Lon Milk. Although she isn't available to ride, it's possible to fuse Kinstones with her. Epona also appears in The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure mostly in one level where you can obtain her after saving Malon, although there are four horses that are ridden, as there are four Links. In The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Link rides a horse that looks very similar to Epona; however, players are able to name Link's horse in this new adventure. ("Epona" is the horse's default name, just as "Link" is the main character's default name.) Epona plays a much larger role in this game, even being used by Link in a horseback battle against Ganondorf. Epona has her own song, which is often used as a way to tame and/or summon her. Epona is named after a Celtic goddess of horses.

Kaepora Gaebora

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Kaepora Gaebora is a wise owl that assists Link throughout various Legend of Zelda games. One of the gossip stones in Ocarina of Time (found in the Sacred Forest Meadow) says that he is the reincarnation of an ancient Sage. In addition, in the Gamecube version of Ocarina Of Time, another gossip stone in the same area tells Link that Kaepora Gaebora "may look big and heavy, but its character is rather lighthearted." He is sometimes presumed to be the reincarnation of Rauru, the Sage of Light, or at least his physical manifestation in Hyrule realm. It is also possible he is the reincarnation of an entirely different ancient sage. Despite him being pretty much right behind Link throughout his childhood in the Ocarina of Time, he isn't encountered while an adult except near the end. He is seen in shadows when Link learns the Requiem of Spirit, but other than that he makes no appearance until Link completes the child half of the Spirit Temple.

It is interesting to note that he claimed (during his meeting with young Link in the Desert Colossus) to not have believed in the Hero of Time, making him the only character in the game to do so. He also appeared in Majora's Mask, first appearing in the swamp area to teach Link the Song of Soaring, and in Snowhead to help Link cross a large abyss. He has statues to his likeness spread across Termina, mainly used to warp to with the Song of Soaring, but also as an alternative of the Song of Time to save the game. By saving this way, you would keep all of your items and rupees but you would not go back in time. In Link's Awakening, a similar owl guides Link on his quest - but seeing as Link's Awakening was developed before Ocarina of Time, it is unlikely that it is Kaepora Gaebora, although it shares his wisdom. In Four Swords Adventures, he is a very loyal friend who gives instructions.

In Twilight Princess, ancient flat-topped owl statues are spread out across Hyrule. Perhaps a homage to Gaebora, Link must use the Dominion Rod to move the statues off their bases, on which is inscribed a letter of an ancient language. Upon Link collecting all these letters, Link can complete the ancient incantation needed to gain access to the Oocca cannon, subsequently needed to access the City in the Sky. Their ability to interact within the Dominion Rod suggests that the statues may be of Oocca design themselves.

Weapons

Four Sword

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Four Sword is a weapon with the same function as (and judging by the legend might be a better version of) the Master Sword: to banish evil. It has the ability to split its wielder into up to four clones, all representing an element and all with their own Four Sword. It is unknown whether the power of the sword is divided amongst its copies or every copy is as strong as the original sword. It was created by the Minish (but called the Picori by the rest of Hyrule). When not empowered with the four magical elements of wind, water, earth, and fire, it is reduced to the less powerful Picori Blade or White Sword, which it stays until all elements are infused. In the series, it also serves as a prison for the villain Vaati and later, Ganon.

In The Minish Cap, there is a large fair and swordfighting contest annually in Hyrule to honor the Minish. The winner of the contest gets to touch the Picori Sword, which was given long ago as a gift to the Hylians by the Minish and kept by the Hylian Royal Family . When Vaati won, he was allowed to touch the Picori Blade and unexpectedly broke it at the hilt, reducing it to the Broken Picori Blade. Link is able to have the Picori Sword fixed. The new blade is called the White Sword, which is later imbued with the powers of the four elements and becomes the Four Sword. Vaati is defeated by Link and sealed into the Four Sword after which it was sealed in an altar.

In Four Swords, Link is tricked into pulling the Four Sword from the pedestal allowing Vaati to escape. Again, the four Links are able to overcome Vaati.

In Four Swords Adventures, Link must again wield the Four Sword to save Hyrule from Vaati. The four Links must also face Ganon this time, who is wielding the Trident of Power. This time around, it's Ganon who gets locked in the Four Sword. One of the points of the game is for the player(s) to collect enough Force Gems (2,000 per player) to activate the Four Sword, causing it to become the "golden" Four Sword (similar to the golden Master Sword). It is also revealed that the Four Sword has certain time traveling powers, much like the Master Sword. It can send its wielder back in time and return him to the exact moment he left, though its limitations have not been confirmed. Unlike the Master Sword, the Four Sword can send its wielder back in time without the help of the Temple of Time

Magical Sword

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Magical SwordThe Magical Sword is the most powerful sword Link receives in the original Legend of Zelda. In the game, the Magical Sword is twice as strong as the White Sword and four times stronger than the regular Sword. According to the instruction manual to The Adventure of Link, Link carries an otherwise unnamed "magical sword" in the sequel, which may be this sword. The official English Zelda website claims that the Magical Sword is the Master Sword.

The Magical Sword also makes an appearance as a weapon for Link in Soul Calibur II (with a matching Magical Shield), but with a different design. In this game, it is a separate weapon from the Master Sword and deals damage even if the target is guarding or blocking.

Master's Sword

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Also known as "The Blade of Evil's Bane", the Master Sword is one of the most powerful swords in the Zelda series, and is often required to defeat Ganon. The sword also doubles as a key to the Sacred Realm. Combined with the power of the Temple of Time, it can send its wielder to the past and bring him back to the exact moment he left. It can be upgraded. In A Link to the Past, it first became the Tempered Sword and was later upgraded to the Golden Sword. In Twilight Princess, it is infused with the light power of the Sols to create the Light Sword. It then has the ability to cut through the Twilight fog created by Zant, and most enemies of the Twilight realm can be defeated with one hit - Twilight Messengers and Ravens, and Zant masks. The Light Sword exists and can be used only within the Palace of Twilight.

The Master Sword does not allow anyone to hold it, as it can repel evil. Only those pure of heart can use the Sword.

In the Wind Waker, the powers of the Master Sword needed to be awakened by the Sages of the Master Sword after it was placed in a pedestal in the basement of the Hyrule of Old, underneath the Great Sea, for hundreds of years. Medli and Makar, the descendants of the ancient Sages, Laruto and Fado, were instrumental in the reawakening

Wooden Sword

The Wooden Sword is Link's trademark starting weapon in many The Legend of Zelda titles, particularly the 2-D iterations. It is composed of wood, and usually the weakest melee weapon the player can attain. The wooden sword often allows Link to perform a trademark Spin Attack, but in some incarnations it cannot fire magical beams or smash pots. A sword with a brown blade is also the initial weapon in the original Legend of Zelda. It is identified as a normal "Sword", but is recognized as being made of wood. Link acquires a wooden sword very early on in Twilight Princess, but lends it to Talo shortly before Talo and the other children are kidnapped. In Twilight Princess, the wooden sword's appearance closely resembles a shinai, strengthening the implication that it was originally intended as a practice sword.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Great Fairy Sword - NOT USEABLE!

The Great Fairy Sword is the most powerful sword in Majora's Mask. It was the reward for gathering all the lost fairies in Stone Tower Temple. The sword is different from most swords, being a C-Item, it was not used with the standard button. Thus allowing you to have two swords equipped at once (not to be confused with dual-wielding, a sword in each hand). This sword is a two-hander, and was as powerful as the Big Goron Sword in Ocarina of Time. It is pink in color with green hues. Decorations of black roses and faries are etched into the blade as well.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boomerang

The Boomerang is a common weapon in the Zelda series. It is usually regarded as a weaker ranged weapon than the Bow and Arrows although it is infinitely reusable, can retrieve certain distant items, and often can immobilize larger enemies in their tracks. In The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, the Boomerang can target and strike multiple enemies with each throw. Because the Boomerang can be locked on to multiple targets before being thrown, Link has a degree of control over its flight path. In some games an upgrade called the Magical Boomerang is available, which allows for a longer throwing distance and/or the ability to control the boomerang's flightpath after being thrown.

A new kind of Boomerang, known as the Gale Boomerang, makes its appearance in Twilight Princess and is inhabited by the Fairy of Winds. It can unleash a small tornado when thrown, which can trigger wind-operated switches, (like the Deku Leaf in The Wind Waker) carry small items or extinguish a flame

Bow and Arrows

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Bow and Arrows is a staple weapon of the Zelda series that Link uses to fight enemies or trigger switches from a distance. It is similar in nature to the Slingshot, although usually more powerful. The Bow and Arrows uses a depletable source of ammunition, though the ability to upgrade the carrying capacity of Link's quiver has been introduced in the later games.

Two-dimensional Zelda games usually feature standard, nameless bows which only shoot in the four cardinal directions on the screen. In these games there are usually upgrades to the standard arrow, such as the Silver Arrows. In Four Swords Adventures, the bow could be upgraded. This level 2. version allowed for quicker charging and shooting.

Bows and Arrows in the three-dimensional Zelda games are more interactive tools than their 2-D counterparts. When manually aiming a shot, the player's perspective is taken to Link's point of view, and can be fired in almost any direction within the three dimensions. In Ocarina of Time, the bow was named the Fairy Bow and gained by Link as an adult in lieu of his childhood projectile weapon: the Fairy Slingshot. A bow known as the Hero's Bow has appeared in Majora's Mask, The Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess. In Majora's Mask, the bow is small enough that it can be used by a child while still being a powerful weapon, and it is hinted that the Hero's Bow of Twilight Princess is the same bow used by the Hero in a prior Zelda game.

The Bow and Arrows from most 3-D Zelda games can use special elemental arrows along with the standard arrow for more powerful attacks and for puzzle-solving. Firing these types of elemental arrows expends an amount of "magic power", or magic points, and there usually is a delay between consecutive shots.

In some Zelda titles, bombs can be combined with arrows to make Bomb Arrows, which are used to blow up distant targets. It should be noted that this feature was an easter egg in Link's Awakening and as such was not needed to complete the game. In Twilight Princess, Link can combine his arrows with any type of Bomb. Unlike the Link's Awakening variation, if held for too long, the Bomb Arrows can detonate, damaging Link.

-Fire Arrows

The heads of the Fire Arrows are set aflame, allowing them to burn their targets upon contact. They are very effective against undead enemies, and are often needed in order to melt ice that blocks Link's path. It is often possible to shoot a makeshift fire arrow without using magic power by shooting a normal arrow through an existing flame. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Young Link uses Fire Arrows as his B-Button attack

-Ice Arrows

Ice arrows can render their target temporarily frozen and, in Majora's Mask, create ice platforms in water or encase enemies in blocks of ice on which Link can stand. They are sometimes necessary to extinguish flames or freeze water streams in puzzles throughout the games. However, in Ocarina of Time, the Ice Arrows have little practical use besides attacking enemies, although they can be effective against the Shadow Temple boss Bongo Bongo - they can freeze his hands and buy Link more time to attack. In The Wind Waker, one can freeze the enemy and then break them with the Skull Hammer or with a Fire Arrow.

-Light Arrows

The Light Arrows of legend can pierce pure evil and are possessed by few. They are useful or required to defeat Ganondorf on several occasions. The Light Arrows are similar in this respect to the Silver Arrows from previous Zelda games, but unlike the Silver Arrows, the Light Arrows are used to penetrate Ganon's defenses, rather than to strike the killing blow. Because of the power and importance of these arrows, Link must expend more magic than when firing other types of magic arrows. The Light Arrows are typically the most damaging projectile weapon in any Zelda title in which they appear. In Majora's Mask, they can also be used to affect light-sensitive objects. In The Wind Waker, it is Princess Zelda who uses them to fight Ganon together with Link. Light Arrows are only used once in Twilight Princess, in the final battle, once again wielded by Princess Zelda. They are created by the Light Spirits

-Silver Arrows

The Silver Arrows are the only available means to defeat Ganon in the two Zelda titles in which they appear. Unlike other special arrows in the Legend of Zelda series, the Silver Arrows are not a combination of regular arrows with either magic or bombs, but an item on their own. In The Legend of Zelda, they were one of the two special items found in the final labyrinth. In A Link To The Past, they were a gift from a Great Fairy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Slingshot

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The Slingshot is Link's alternative weapon to the Bow and Arrows in many games. Usually, he gets the Slingshot first and later gets the more powerful Bow and Arrows. It uses rocks and seeds as ammunition and stores them similar to arrows in the inventory. In Ocarina of Time it was known as the Fairy Slingshot and served as Young Link's ranged weapon (Adult Link would use the Fairy Bow). In Oracle of Seasons, it fires various Magical Seeds whose effects range from igniting enemies to creating whirlwinds. In Four Swords Adventures it could be leveled up. The level 2. version was capable of charging up and releasing three rocks at the same time in three different directions. In Twilight Princess, Link must acquire a slingshot in order to proceed early in the game, but it is has very slight offensive capability, a shorter range than is found in previous games, and is rendered virtually useless after he receives the Hero's Bow.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SHEILDS -

Wooden Shield
This shield is a simple cefensive item used in the beginning of most of Link's adventures. Although it takes on a variety of forms, each one is essentially an item used to deflect arrows and small projectiles. If most of the shields such as this touches fire, it usually burns and a new one must be purchased or found. For this reason the wooden shield is usually abandoned after a more powerful item, such as the Hylian Shield, is found.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mirror Shield
The Mirror Shield is a shield made of highly polished metal. It has slightly differing designs in each game, but its main purpose is the reflection of light or magic projectiles.

The shield first appeared in A Link to the Past as an upgrade that allowed Link to block (but not reflect) lasers. It also appears in Link's Awakening and reflects lasers and fire. The reflected lasers do not however cause damage to enemies. In Ocarina of Time, it is used to solve a few puzzles and defeat the boss of the Spirit Temple, Twinrova. Interestingly, this is the only time that the Mirror Shield has the ability to absorb magical attacks and if Link can absorb three of the same kind (either fire or ice) in a row, the Mirror Shield will launch of stream of fire/ice back at Twinrova. Also, unlike the Hylian Shield, it cannot reflect rocks shot from an Octo, rather it merely breaks them. In Majora's Mask, the shield bears an image of a screaming face that is reflected when exposed to light. In Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons, the Mirror Shield was simply a defensive upgrade from Link's Iron Shield. The Mirror Shield is also required in order to solve several puzzles in The Wind Waker. In The Minish Cap, whenever an enemy fired a projectile and you block it with the Mirror Shield, the shield emits a small damaging beam of light (roughly equivalent to half the power of the Four Sword) back to the enemy. Interestingly, this is the first time an item cannot be obtained on the first playthrough. Only when the game is finished can the Mirror Shield be obtained. Therefore, it's rather useless in The Minish Cap. It is formed by Biggoron eating the normal shield and spitting it out a few days later. This shield is also available in Soul Calibur II where any normal damage (as in everything but being thrown) was dealt back to the attacker by a factor of one half, though may cause Link to lose his balance from strong strikes.

Interestingly enough, the crescent moon design for the Mirror Shield of Ocarina of Time was changed for the GameCube re-release. Several other appearances of this design in the game (which resembles an Islamic symbol) were changed as well. In general, the Gerudo symbol has been changed in all Zelda games where it is featured
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BOMBS

Bombs

The Zelda series commonly uses Bombs. They are round in shape and usually require the fuse to be lit to explode. Link can use them to damage enemies, break walls and barriers and solve puzzles. If used at sea in The Wind Waker, bombs can be shot out of a cannon.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bombchu

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

A Bombchu is a bomb in the shape of a chu (mouse). They are mechanical devices which run along floors and walls before exploding. They first appeared as items in Ocarina of Time, and later as enemies in Majora's Mask called Bombchus.

A similar item appears in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight princess called a Bombling. It is an insect-shaped bomb which is otherwise identical to the Bombchu

shing!
The clash of steel rang through canion like an echo, a massive blade coming down and knocking Amni's aside effortlessly. The blade was held by one hand by an armored figure, his white cape billowing, golden helm gleaming in the sunlight. Poking out, you could see the silvery-white hair of the man, his cold and hard blue eyes staring at the Zora child
"You should mind your manners, Zora, for your rage and haste will easily result in your premature demise."
He hefted the massive blade, putting it over his shoulder
"For example, assaulting a Gerudo warrior is an unwise practice for any species. It is a lesson you should learn before you charge into battle so recklessly."
