Okay, first of all, I need to know if I would be better off just buying used clothes and altering them a bit, or if it would be easier just to make some parts of the costume from fabric. If so, which parts? Are there any suggestions for fabrics? Also, how should I make Way To Dawn? Are there any suggestions on any methods to get my hair silver? Any particular brands of bleach/dye? I'm well aware that I'm sounding like a brat that knows nothing, but I simply want this costume to turn out better than the ones I made last year.

D: Your costumes last year were awesome, Celes!
I need help with Roxas, too... >.>
So... Yeah. I dunno. I think we might be a little better off with altering clothes that we get from Good Will. Maybe. >.<

It depends. If you are good at sewing I would definatly start from scratch to make it more authentic. If you're a bit of an amature you might be better off just altering some premade clothing. smile

I'm pretty okay at sewing, and my grandmother and mother are wonderful.
I dunno if Celes is any good, though. >.> (Probably not. xD; )

As said before, making the costume depends on your own skill. Are you good at sewing with minimal pattern help (or altering one)? If not, then I suggest that you (1) try it out with a smaller amount (like for a doll or something) or (2) alter already existing clothes. If you need more help on this, then just let me know. As for Way to Dawn, I would suggest first drawing the pattern onto a large sheet of paper and stencling it to the wood (or directly onto the wood if you feel confident enough). I'll be making Kairi's keyblade if I get the chance for my sister (who's about...5'4") and it'll be about 4' long (so you can get an idea of length). As for hair...I personally use a wig for my Namine cosplay (since I don't want to bleach it). I bought my wig back around Halloween last year at a Party Factory. The company is Pony Express Creations and I bought my wig for $17. Since Halloween is long passed, you can always order a catologue and see if they have anything that interests you. smile Just let me know if you need help with anything.

I'm not too fond on the idea of a wig, and I have too much hair anyway. By the time Otakon comes around it'll be down to my waist again or a bit longer. I have my hair cut in a specific way for the costume too... so I just want to bleach it. As for the advice on Way To Dawn, thank you so much. I hadn't thought of that, so it's probably what I'll do. I can get access to wood and the tools to carve it out and such easily.

Yeah... You plan on helping me for my keyblades, too, right? You know that me, of all people, shall need help for the Oath Keeper and Oblivion.

Okay people... can anyone advise me to fabrics. I've decided I'm going to need to make most of this from scratch, as I can't find any clothes to alter other than for the outer jacket. I have something I can do for that, I just need to paint it and add some sleeves to it.

It was done in a school-boy fashion because I got lazy and spent too much time making Way to Dawn, which was quite fun. I can sew just fine, really...
