Mtima'safi had left the poor mortal cub with the pride's nanny she trusted most, and had left with some advice on how to find his father should she have any trouble. With any luck, she would find the white youth with no trouble and would not need to seek out more help than she already had. If she found him, she needed to figure out what she wanted to say, how she would tell Kubwa that he was a father. How would she tell him that he had two daughters that did not make it through their first night, or that their mother wanted nothing to do with them. The soul goddess was trying to keep her mind off her own feelings on the subject, but the more time she spent alone the harder it was getting. Perhaps Kubwa need not know about his daughters, but would that be fair to him? He needed to focus on the survivor, would it be better to learn of them now or later?

Her search was taking the goddess to the last place she'd seen Kubwa, to a tree near a small pool of water. It was later in the day, early afternoon in fact, of the day Boma had brought the cub to her. She'd given the day some time, not expecting many to be up at the crack of dawn. She hoped that Kubwa would be where she was going, it would make things easier on her to find him now and the sooner the cub met his father and got a name, the better.

The bright white male sighed heavily and sat beside his usual perch, he was on his way home, he had spent much of the morning moping about Boma'burudi..he had never felt this way about another creature. His love for his family was much different than the love for a female..but he was sure she didn't feel the same. Aadil had not seen more than a few hours of her son a day and she was getting anxious and started to assume that he had gotten himself into a bit of trouble, little did the worrying mother know...

Before he started to rise to move the yellow form of Mtima came to view, she was unmistakable to him, he may have seen her son more than he had seen her, but that yellow pelt was unmistakably their family, and she was much larger than her son....and of coure who could mistake the beautiful purple symbols on her coat.

The goddess stepped anxiously closer, spying a familiar pale form by the tree. She sighed inwardly her relief- happy she had been able to find Kubwa with little trouble. It seemed she would not need to involve more than Tai after all! She picked up the pace and jogged over the tree, her expression a mix of serious and sympathetic.

"Kubwa," she called out as a form of greeting and a way of getting his attention. Mtima only had a few seconds more to figure out how she was going to say what she needed to say.

A wide smile spread across the adolescent's face, "Miss Mtima! How is Wahabu? I have not seen him...!" He was excited to see a familiar face. He wanted to be around others beside his family..he was not sure what to tell them. Kipanya had handled things well but Kubwa was not sure he understood. Kubwa was extremely ashamed and pleased at his fling with Boma.

Wonder what Mtima's been up to..she looks so different as a lioness, of course he knew that she could look mortal, but it was very different. Unaware of what was to come the foolish smile stayed plastered to his face.

"Wahabu is doing well," she replied, jumping on the chance to avoid the topic she'd come to discuss with the youth, "He took to finding out about my godhood rather well, and I can assure you he and I are quite thankful something finally brought it out." Mtima was thanking Kubwa in her own way. She might have liked to tell Wahabu on her own terms, but it had been starting to seem like it would never come up. With that somewhat-cheerful comment out there, the goddess drew in a deep breath.

"But that is not why I came to see you," she said, sounding much more serious. With a slight twitch, her wings flickered into view on her back. They were folded neatly, and stuck amongst the white and brown feathers were the two metallic feathers left by Boma for her son. Their son. The goddess turned around and pulled the feathers from her wings, and set them on the ground between them. She was certain Kubwa would recognize them.

Kubwa blushed furiously he had not meant to spill the lovely goddess' secret but..well.. it happened, "I am glad to hear that he is doing well." He smiled and nodded. He watched amazed as she revealed her white and brown wings.

Before he could comment about the magnificent things..he had always wanted wings and before he could ask what it was she was here for, she revealed yet another thing..two feathers.

"No..no..no.." he huffed and tears ebbed at the corner of his eyes, welling up so that his vision was blurred. There was no way the young lion would mistake those feathers..why did she have them...better yet..why had she brought them to him? Did he really need such a reminder of the event that took place weeks or months... earlier?

Mtima looked at Kubwa very seriously, for this was not a topic she could handle with the cheer it should normally deserve until she knew exactly how Kubwa felt. Judging by his tearful reaction to the sight of them, he knew where they were from and he'd been hurt by the encounter. One way or another.

"These are not for you, Kubwa," she said, her tone caught between sympathetic and serious, "They are for your son." Her words stopped there, waiting for what reaction he might have to that before continuing.

"Mtima, you are mistake I do not have a so-" his eyes went wide and settled on the metallic feathers..."It was just the once..she had a child? Where is he, can I see him?" His heart pattered and for once in the many weeks after their encounter Kubwa was excited.

"I do not have..do I?"

Mtima was a bit surprised, and relieved, by Kubwa's reaction. It was startling that he could go from near tears over the feathers to anxious simply at the news of his son. She hesitated when she considered his question- she had a child. Did he really need to hear about the others? Perhaps it was only fair to him..

"It only takes once, and she did bear your cubs," she informed him, hesitating a bit when deciding to say 'cubs' over 'cub', "Your son survived the night, and now he is with one of the pride's nannies." The goddess' tone was still very serious, she would not play any tricks like this- especially on someone so young and close to her own son.

"I had more than one...but..no," he shook his head furiously and looked up at Mtima, the tears still ebbed, how could something so happy and so shocking happen all at one?

"But he is fine..I can see him..? What is his name? Please I beg you, you have to tell me everything, don't hold things back..why did she comr to you?" His mind raced, he had a boy..a son..like his father, oh no! What was he supposed to tell Aadil and Mvumo? He already was trying to hide his shame and now he would have a reminder of it? Shock, anger, sadness, happiness, and above all joy and shame flooded his entire being, what was he to do? Why hadn't she told him?

"I..will Buh-buh-Boma be bringing him to me? Why is he with a nanny?"

Mtima nodded sadly when he asked about the others, though vaguely. She'd gone this far, she may as well finish what she started with him.

"You had two daughters, and I only tell you because you deserve to know, as they deserve to be known," she said with a sad sigh. The goddess herself had never lost a child, and she felt truly lucky for that but it was becoming all too apparent that that would not last her lifetime. "Your son is doing well. Boma is a dear friend of mine, and she came to me when she discovered she was having cubs and again when she brought him to me. She cannot be with him, you have to understand that it- it's not easy for a goddess."

Her words got caught in her throat, and she knew she could not appear like this infront of Kubwa. He'd know why she had trouble explaining that, and from prior experience she knew what Kubwa knew could always come around to Wahabu. Mortality was the last thing she wanted her son to worry about.

"Another friend of mine agreed to watch him until I found you, he'll need milk a while longer and she is someone you can trust," she continued, trying to resume a less emotional tone, "You can find him with Tai. He's waiting there for you, and for a name."

Kubwa was more shocked and apalled that Mtima sympathized with Boma, Boma had left a helpless cub, no HIS helpless cub to a friend, she could not bring him to Kubwa directly? Family deserves family! His son deserved more than being left with a nanny..of course he needed milk, but couldn't Kubwa look for a female nanny?

Anger rose in his chest but he refused to take it out on Mtima it was not her fault, and she looked as if she was going to break down. He was unaware that it was for the mortality of her own family, and not that of his small ones.

"She did not name him? Can I? Can I name all three of them..?" he paused trying to calculate what to say quickly, "Miss Mtima, I am aware that mortals die and gods do not, after all they are gods. I am mortal, I will die and that is all there is too it, but for my son..I can, no I will, always be there, even if it means living forever." he said this confidently as if it was possible.

Mtima could see the shock and anger in Kubwa as she described the situation, and felt her stomach knot at the expression on his face. She could understand Boma's situation, much more than she'd thought at first. She could understand Boma's asking her for help as well.

"Kubwa," she said hesitantly, hoping to address the issue, sounding much kinder now. Her words ended there, she just wanted him to try to understand. Mtima was not a mind-reader, she could not know which words exactly brought about such a reaction but she was quite certain of everything she'd said.

"They are yours to name, I'm sure they'd each appreciate that," she answered with a sigh, only finding words again when Kubwa spoke, "I'm glad you understand that, and that you feel that way." The youth was taking this news better than she might have guessed, and she was impressed with his determination.

Mine to name... a deep rumbling sigh seemed to roll through his consciousness...Mine..all..mine..littel girls..and my son...

"What does he look like? Me?" A part of him wanted to be told and a larger part wanted to be completely surprised.

"I am glad it is you who Boma'burudi came to, I trust you, and I love your son. That may sound so silly, we've only spoken a few times, but he is as close to a friend that I have got. Thank you..in so many ways thank you." he blurted out and then fell silent hoping Mtima would have some way to respond and sooth is nerves

"Somewhat, of course," she informed him, recalling the fuzzy fur on the little one she'd left with Tai. He was not distinctly most like Boma or Kubwa, he was a nice mix in between, "You'll have to see for yourself, it'll be more distinct when he's a little less fuzzy." The goddess smiled a bit even thinking about it. The girls may not have made it, but this one did- and now she knew he would have a loving father. It was a good resolution to a stressful situation, all things considered.

She was surprised to hear the words he spoke next. It helped her understand how close Kubwa was to her son, and why exactly almost right after seeing her that Wahabu knew about it. It was nice to know he had such a good friend.

"Thank you, Kubwa," Mtima replied, "You have taken this news well, and that makes me glad. I could not have hoped for anything better."
