He was so overwhelmed and his whole body seemed to quiver with anger and distaste. He was covered in a thick blanket of self loathing now and it seemed like the little cub just couldn’t bring himself to snap out of it. His mother was dead, killed, murdered and by one of her own! This just couldn’t have been… maybe it was just all a dream and when Adamu awoke everything would be back to normal.

Maybe mother would be in the woods still looking for him like she was early that day. Maybe… maybe everything was just a dream. Oh how he longed for this wish to be true, though deep inside he knew very well that his mother was really gone and nothing could be done to raise her. He was alone now and helpless, he felt so lost: it was like being tapped within a think fog, looking for a way out.. but never being able to find it; like back in the woods.

His tiny paws slowly pressed forward as he walked on with his head hung low.

Asi was also on the prowl; the once proud, chubby king was looking slightly thin and rather sleep deprived. He did not look so depressed though, Amari had cured that with his visit. It had been a long time since he'd seen any of his friends... and although his heart ached from his one true love's death... well, it wasn't as if he was moving on or anything. He just was trying to feel happy. Would Ari want him to be happy? Ari wouldn't want to be... he shuddered and sighed, his own head hanging.

As he continued through the woods he could hear small footsteps, and he glanced up. Just in time too! He'd almost ran over Ari's son. Seeing this child made his heart hurt even more. "Aye, aye watch it.." He said gently as he stopped and took a few steps backwards. His mate's son, but not his son. A child he had to look after... "Eh... 'ow... 'ow are yeh, Adamu?" He said, his voice nervous and unsure. He didn't talk to the three cubs much... he preyed he'd gotten the name right.

In contrast to how Asi felt toward Adamu and his siblings the little male really did see the king as his father. Mother had always told Adamu to love Asi and that Asi was his papa, just the other day Adamu was looking for light bugs to give to papa… with mother. But now, now mother was gone and he was alone.

As Asi spoke Adamu’s tiny frame quivered in pain and with a soft mew he gazed up at the large male. Tears could be seen forming within the young males eyes as he gazed up at the lion that he called his father. He didn’t know the truth, he didn’t know anything anymore.

“I’m...”

He started but couldn’t finish. His soft sobs had come now and were slowly escaping his muzzle as he gasped and moved himself closer to Asi’s paws. Adamu needed comfort. Adamu needed his mother’s love.
