The Manor sat in dark, all lights faded but for one deep in the Manor basement. A single candle sit on a pedistal in the middle of the room, the flame swaying slightly in the breeze. "Nagaiira has informed me that Sonia Uchiha has entered her final match against an Oto Shinobi Genin by the name of Taku Abumi." A voice sounded from the darkness.
"Then if Orochimaru still desires the Sharingan...he will be making his move soon." Another voice sounded in the darkness..
"We must send a messenger to him...to ascertain what information we need and his plans."
"I suggest we send Ryo...our loyalist Jounin. He will serve as our messenger. Do you agree master?"
"He would be most wisest master...he is completely loyal to you."
"I agree, Ryo will be sent to Orochimaru immediately."

Nagaiira stepped into the Manor basement. He knelt in obedience. "Mizukage-sama....the Uchiha has entered her final match. She has attained the three tomo Sharingan..."

"It seems the sixth member has arrived in the village. She will be arriving shortly."
"Ryo has yet to return....do you think he has been slain?"
"No...Ryo will not have been slain so easily. I'm sure Orochimaru will not harm him. Not if he would want one less of an ally."

There was a crash as a door was slammed open, and a blue-and-violet blur ricocheted off of thin paper walls, making them rattle, and at least one tear, before it came to a halt as the girl skidded to a stop before those congregated.
"Hehe...oops?" She grinned, looking not at all ashamed for the noise, nor for the vibrations her entrance had caused within the wooden structure. On her back, broken in two was an elegant but vicious-looking naginata, and upon her forearms were neko-te, ready to, at a flick of the wrist, slide into their proper places on wrist and gloved hand.
She grinned, revealing a set of pearly fangs, which offset her mismatched eyes and slitted pupils.
"Hiya there!"

"Master...are you sure a woman is the best choice for the sixth?" Same said lowly.

Kurome growled at the blue guy, gills=fish=food her subconscious labeled him for her, her entire demeanor changing from cheerful and perky to almost-territorial and not exactly happy, (if she were a dog, her hackles would have been raised, if she were her own deceased partner, her tail would have been lashing from side to side) her lips drawn into a snarl, again exposing sharp-looking, curved fangs, as her one of her neko-te slid down to its proper place.

"Be quiet Same. She is one of us and is to be treated with the same respect as you would treat me." Hagane cleared his throat. "Welcome."
Same nodded. "Yes master."
"Now we just need one more member." Denkou said somewhat quietly.
Kiri sighed some and began sharpening one of his katanas. "I wish Orochimaru would hurry up...."

"Wishes are for fishes, don'cha know? Wanting what you can't control won't make the water boil faster!" Gone was her threatening stance, as Kurome was all smiles, bouncing on the balls of her feet as she twirled a kunai around her index finger.

"Oooh.. goody! So now what?! Shall we stand on our heads and blow bubbles through our toes?" Kurome's tone was a mix of both energy and sarcasm, as her stance belied her words; her movement ceased, her shoulders straightened, then fell, slightly, as if in resignation, or weariness. Her face was wiped clean of any expression. It was right after the exams....

"Didja know that snakes taste like chicken? You didn't, did ya? Did you?" Kurome made an effort to appear her 'normal' self, hyperness and all, resuming her bouncing from foot to foot, though ehr eyes stayed lost in a memory...
The Chuunin Exams had two days ago, and Kurome, at this time a Jounin charged with border patrol, was making her way along the multitude docks and bridge systems that constituted the border of the Country of the Wave, pausing at the Great Naruto Bridge. Koru was perched on her right shoulder, the size of a housecat through a complicated transformation that could be undone at a moment's notice, her hitai-ate stitched to her left shoulder strap. She would have been in a good mood, should have been in a good mood- the exams had been a success, and the Village and the country were most certainly not poorer for it... but something was nagging at the back of her mind, a little tendril of something's not right... She had sent the rest of her squad on, back to the Village, not too long ago, as there was little to find- nearly everyone who was not supposed to be there was out, across the ocean.
Koru was the first to sense them; after all, he was a cat. He leapt from her shoulder and changed, from the tabby he had first appeared to be, into a rather grayish, rather, um, large, tiger. Unfortunately, whoever the attackers were, they worked well enough as a team that incapacitation was easily an option, rather than the standard 'go for the kill'. It was a strange tactic, going for 'maim', but it worked. She thought she heard a voice, something about kunoichi 'all alone with her little kitty'. She hadn't been fast enough. They hamstringed Koru, and then made a fire and listened to the screams... She heard them through the smoke. Not fast enough. They laughed. Not fast enou-THERE WILL BE BLOOD! and then, somehow, one of the four was screaming and her hands and claws were messy-red, and someone else's squad was taking care of the ones remaining, and Where was Koru?! And there was greasy ash, blowing into her eyes, and a medic was making her slee- itwasgettingsodark...
Kurome blinked, and she smiled brightly. "So... anyone up for a game of cards?"
