The light brown lion looked out at the water lapping the sandy shore in wonder. He had traveled as far east as he could go and wondered if this was the end of the world. It certainly was peaceful. The water, however, was salty and no good to drink. Scrunching his face in dissatisfaction, he turned back to the grasses. They were more comfortable than the shifting water that rolled over his paws and the sand that sank with every step. But the sea was lulling so he didn't want to leave just yet. Thanking his coat for the camoflauge it provided him, he laid down, resting his head on his paws. His tail waved lazily, thumping on the earth lightly with every downward swing.
But he wouldn't rest for long. The sound of movement reached his ears and he raised his head only as much as he needed to to look around for the source of the noise.

Large male, muscle bound, and courageous at times, the male moved back to his home upon the beach. The cove was his home, it was his escape from wandering eyes as no one would come this far out to the beach and even so, his cove was private. His conversation at Pride Rock was more than he wanted or expected to know. He had a little brother, a half-brother. Ger was his name. It seemed that his father got a bit busy now that his son wasn't around anymore. Typical. He looked around before descending onto the soft sand. Oh the comfortable feel.
The sand consumed his paws as his weight pressed down onto the grains as it went just half-way up his paw digits. This place was his sanctuary. No one else around, no one to hide from. A perfect place to run around and a good swim was perfect. The sea was abundant of food, however, he sought to eat those of land. who knows what sort of defenses those creatures are equiped with.
Slowly, the lion moved down the shoreline when something moved from just near by. The movement was slight but still caught his attention. Quickly, his body seemed to close up on itself. His paws got closer together as if he was trying to hide his body while standing. His teal eyes focused more and more when he saw it, it was another lion. His eyes seemed to grow large. There was someone else here!? Damn!
The lion didn't want to be rude and tried to be as polite as he could. His body remained in that position and cleared his throat.
"Hello?"

Peering above the tall grass, he noticed another lion near the shore. The lion was gold like the sun and if he was not mistaken, the lion was also more muscular than he was. He curled his tail to his body nervously. His muscles stiffened, making him tense. But the hello he received was in no way threatening and he couldn't stand to be rude when there was no reason to remain camoflauged.
He rose to his feet, stretching, careful not to look threatening or threatened. Then he slowly came forward. "Hello," he said. "I didn't realize someone else was here." It was only half a lie but he didn't let it phase him. "The water's quite nice, no?" At least he assumed it was still called water. He had seen something like it when he was growing up but no words to identify it came to mind.
He flicked his tail to encourage the mental process of removing the last bits of nervousness that remained in his system.

"You and I both. I assumed that Lewe would have already came and chased you off. This is her beach and she didn't even take too kindly to me. Sooner or later she will come and I just hope you get better off than I did."
With a hearty chuckle, the massive lion sat down, his paws laced in front of him. With a smile now that his secret was secure, he looked on to that other male. Small like the others, well, maybe small was too vauge, he was about a good size, short nevertheless but still a good size. Lewe was a Firekin female who roamed the beach claiming it as her's he had querrel with her, but trying to convince her to let him stay was tough. He managed his own den and it was just perfect for him. He smiled again.
"The ocean is the best sight to see when the great sun falls beyond the horizon. It can also be beautiful when it is at night where the moon shine down upon it's surface just like the water holes of the savanna reflect the moon's light," Trig had lived there long enough to fall in love with the beautiful sight. But what made him stay herewas not the see as much as the other things here, but that female seemed very interesting to him. Her body seemed to reflect the image of the setting sun against the ocean. However, he stood no chance with her and tried to avoid her. She probably had better things to do. "Then there are the times where it is the most violent thing you've seen. It's waves crash against the sand and obliterate the rock side. The sea can be wonderful, but it can be dangerous."
... "Oh, before I forget. Name's Trig."

One thing that could be said about his brain is that it quite readily logged things in under the figurative filing cabinet "fear." So at the mention of the lioness, Lewe, his brain registered it quickly: "Lewe = bad". He thanked whatever god that was listening for not having run into this "Lewe" so far. When it came to strength, he got the short end of the stick.
"I'm Moyenda but if you like, you can call me Mo," he said in response to the other's introduction.
He looked out to that vast body of water. There was no doubt in his mind that it was peaceful and beautiful and yet, for someone like himself it was greatly lacking. The winds blowing off of the water were cool which meant that it was exceptionally chilly. There wasn't a cave that he could see nearby although he guessed there must be if lions actually lived here. Sure, any threat could be seen for miles but there wasn't a herd animal in sight. That would make a long trek for food. No, he decided. This wasn't the place for him. And he could not deny that the song of the water was luring and hypnotic. Catching a lion unaware, it could lure the lion to their death.
"Well I'm glad I got to see it in its peaceful state," he replied. Curious and hoping his question wouldn't be offending, Mo turned to look at the lion, "what brought you here, Trig?"

"Escape."
Was all that he need to say as his eyes remained on the sea. His tone was soft and almost quiet. He wanted to escape the eyes of his peers. He smiled and looked back to the other. What brough him here? Maybe he sought the same thing he did and wanted to escape something, could not blame him. The world has changed a lot, a lot more evil and darkness around now. Scavengers and ruthless lions. If he had to, he would use his body by means to purge it but as of now, he sees no reason to.
"What brings you here, Mo? I don't see why you would want what I do. Someone like you ould surely find a nice female and settle down to a nice family, you are better off than I am."
To Trig, he felt like a freak the way he was. He was large, larger than almost every other lion out there. He had yet to meet any lion that rivaled his own other than the God of Famine, Jadhis. No female would want him.... eventually, he turned himself from females and males a like. His emotion of love.... was almost gone.

He listened to the other lion intently. Trig was a lion of little words and anything that Mo wanted to get out of it would come "between the lines". Mo could only wonder what this lion would need to escape from. The lion was huge and well-muscled and was in no way ugly. To see such a lion alone and because of "escape" made him extremely curious. What was out there that was terrifying enough to cause this lion to run off to the lonely shore?
"I wouldn't say mine's a good reason. I lack a home, a rogue is what they call lions like me, I believe. But I don't know. I don't really feel like I necessarily belong anywhere - at least not right now. Wandering is kind of what I do and in said wanderings, I happened upon this place." Mo let out a short sigh. "All the females I've met so far seemed more concerned with something else ...or they're too young."
Quite honestly, I could ask you the same question: why don't you have a female. But Trig hadn't offered his own happenings in regards to having a family so Mo didn't broach the subject.
Moyenda lifted his paw idly out of the sand and watched as the waves washed away any traces of a paw print. "You suppose life is like this? Brief and forgotten." he said guesturing to the disappearing paw print.

"Rogues.... those free from the laws and restrictions of others. Free to do as they wish without much penalty. We are rogues, there are just too many of us. I too am a rogue and I came here for the sole purpose of hiding myself. Too many have came to me, females and males a like, because of this secret of mine. No matter how much I turn them away, more flock to me. But that isn't what I want. I wanted someone who would love me and well.... it is hard to describe. Well, to make it easier and avoid my true reason, the females I know are simply too small for me."
Most of that was a lie. He just couldn't find the right one.... not many interested him, but he wanted to be loved so much. His emotion was dying with his patience. He could not resist too much longer, but he must he wait. He had to. With a sigh he spoke over his shoulder.
"Life is short and brief. When you die... you are forgotten in time. That is why many seek to leave a good way for their remembrance.... but that would be forgotten in time as well. Your existance is just sort and forgotten...." he paused and turned back to him with a slime. "But life is too precious to waste. We live life to enjoy it and experience for ourselves, first hand with all the hardships and enjoyment."

He couldn't deny this secret that Trig had had peeked his curiousity. However, he knew for the sake of this lion, it was best left alone. He felt honored that the lion had shared as much as he had with Mo and figured that would have to do until Trig started volunteering the information. Afterall, he had been instilled with a sense of politeness and even a bit of propriety. He looked back down at the sand. His pawprint was nearly gone by now. He placed his paw over it and then down.
"I suppose you're right, that eventually all of it will fade, that no one will be trully remembered for all time. But yea... I like your description of life. It's very true. ...very true...
"Don't worry about your secret. I won't pry it from you."

"Thanks, but it is a view, not a truth."
With a shake of his head, his deep brown mane shaking out of loose grains, he rose to his feet and turned back to the other lion. He was gonna be a good male for whoever he loved or fell for. That lioness, that female, would be lucky to have gotten someone as special as this one. Polite, smart, and yest curious hinting to his intelligence. With a smile he nodded.
"It is about time I head back home. I have my cove-mate waiting for me. We got some errands to run before anything else. Anyways I hope you find somewhere safe to live, Mo. Seek me out again if you need help."
Trig turned his head back and took soft, mannered steps along the shore before stopping. His head turned a bit so that only his side can be seen.
"Oh.... and I wouldn't allow you to pry it from me."
With all said, he continued home.

A view the lion said... a view it might be but Mo still felt that it was as close to a truth as one could get without being a god. He smiled to himself as he thought, realizing how much the peacefulness of the shore was encouraging it. Maybe this was where all the wise lions came for contemplation. Maybe there were important things about Trig that were discovered and burried here. The lion seemed unique with a good head on his shoulders.
The lion told him to seek Trig out if he needed help, reassuring he thought with a nod. "You might get tired of me if I do," Moyenda laughed after the lion.
This had been a nice place. Mo was glad he had come here. With a pleasant smile in Trig's direction, he set off back the way he came, taking the calm of the sea with him.
