Ok, I think a Lot of us have websites, so lets post them up and get some visits to them^^ Post what your site is, its purpose, vague content and anything else you can think of(obviously you need the URL) Mine: http://www.elvenblade.co.ukThis is a joint site hosted on my server for me and my friends, My site contains some of my original Poetry, there is a Radio(not the same one as the one for the guild) and forums(you can contact me there, get HTML help or just talk) and I am currently developing the area to allow remote Cell Phone unlocking, I can now support USA phones, but it can be a bit dodgey as it is still in progress. Also a page of quotes, one from G.W. Bush... Well, thats about it, and for those of you who actually use the radio, its being sorted soon so it works faster! so visit, post on the guestbook and forums if you wish, its always good to know people know about your site!

Er..in that sense, ch'ya..well I mean, I've been working with HTML for at lesat..3 years or so..so some HTML I can throw together by memory and have a page but..otherwise I have to use CSS and HTML from free premade layouts to give me a basic foundation to starting on my webpages (just using my personally made layouts instead).
Let's just say I'm also around friends who love this kinda stuff..when I was still struggling in learning HTML..the basics anyway (which I'm still getting into more), one friend of mine..he said that he learned in one day to set up a simple page by memory after reading an old book that his dad had that taught HTML basics..but he's a genius almost so I mean..*shrugs*

Now see when I started on HTML..just..raw HTML, I..pfft..I struggled..yet I remained devoted b/c I was determined to figure out..for example, how to work frames..for 2..whole..months..basically my entire summer vacation trying to figure it out..when half a year later after getting used to it, I came across a more simple way of doing it..agh..@_@
But yes..PHP and CGI..half the time it's hard to find a host that will even allow half the things you need..I just try to find a free host that I'm able to have and use what I need..right now though I'm..working on a 3rd layout..
Can I get your opinion on 2 different layouts I made?...one's a DIV type layout and another is a..pop up..kinda..ish..

Well, um, a good host is tripod, they support some file types, but if anyone wants a few PHP or soon CGI files hosted, ask me, my server (which I am basically sat on as I type this XP) supports HTML, PHP, Perl and a couple of others I dont know sweatdrop I should soon be able to install the CGI module, when I find one that does what I need it to!
And, the layouts, I like both, BUT, if the popup one actually comes up as a popup, that could cause a problem with people who use popup blockers, and alot of people just close popups anyway without reading their contents...so, I'd always go for a DIV layer.

Well as for pop ups go, sometimes..when the splash page opens..it'll have a little picture link and text under it to tell the person that it's a pop up..
..but if the person still chooses to prevent opening the chance of pop ups to occur, I might do what others end up doing where..they have a duel site going on..where if ppl don't wish to choose the pop up link, they can choose a backup link I will have created where it opens up into a normal page..
..it's just..the same layout, merely not in a pop up..I can work my way around the design so that it looks right..it's merely copying and pasting the HTML too since..it's the same pages..just in a different format..
For now though..the main host I've been using the past couple of years off and on has normally been Free Webs. I remember when I first started making sites..ugh..used Geocities a lot..that got annoying..

jtk100 www.site2sight.co.nr before I came to gaia I decided to make a neopets code site. I still update it. wow, looks like you are pretty well read on the coding side of things, thats a pretty good site, what did you use to build it, a text editor, or a WYSIWYG editor?

oh, and to those of you who are unsure, WYSIWYG stands for 'What You See Is What You Get' basically its a coding program that runs on a GUI (Graphical User Interface) so, its like and Image Editor in a way, you get your page to look like you want using a instant preview kinda, so if you have an image, you move it around as you want on the program and it does the coding, unlike a text editor(usually Notepad on MS OS's) where you type in all the tags and stuff then save it as a HTML, PHP, CGI, or whatever......
