Amesi was small, but not too small in her opinion. She felt she was just right. It felt good. She wiggled in anticipation. Today was the day that her father would allow her to venture into the Pridelands without him! It was the most exciting day of her young life. He had always guarded her closely before, more closely than her other siblings. She had wondered at this, but never found a logical solution. Her father couldn't love her more than ll the rest, since she felt they were all equally wonderful.

But whatever it was that kept her always in his sight, it was soon letting her go. If only for a little bit. Her father was only letting her travel in the very bright hours of light, but it was still time on her own!

"I'll be good daddy!" she called as she walked away. His face held a rather forlorn expression, and she frowned for a moment. But he saw her looking at him and schooled his expression into happiness, happiness that his daughter would have such a courageous spirit. She smiled then, and bounced in her step. Her father was so wonderful!

Wanting to run, but feeling like walking would be better to take in the lands, Amesi paced steadily forward. She wondered who and what she would encounter today. New friends? Something strange? Something exciting, something fun? Just thinking of the possibilities made her body shiver with excitement. She was finally exploring on her own! It was a bit lonesome, but very much full of unknown excitement. She was ready to take on the world!

Perking her round ears forward, she leaped forward and padded thoroughly onward. Today was a good day.

Inari was crouched down in the tall grass, flicking his tail his eyes were set on his target. A lone hare, perhaps he could catch something today on his own. He had gotten faster, but he still wondered if he was fast enough to catch a hare. Readying himself he pushed his paws against the earth and tore off in the direction of the little fuzzy creature.

Dashing after it the hare took a sharp turn, scurrying into its hole, Inari on the other hand sliding on some dirt into a bush. With a bang he went into the bush, got caught amongst the branches and had to pry himself out from them. He huffed and padded away.

He failed...again.

Why couldn't anything good happen?

Amesi continued on in a bright manner. Though she didn't meet someone right away, she wasn't discouraged. She was unlike a normal cub in the fact that she understood that you couldn't just go out and a minute later find something interesting. It took a bit of patience, and though she wasn't patient she controlled herself enough to not go crazy upon not finding anything.

But that didn't mean she couldn't get just the least bit agitated. It was true, she knew she wouldn't find something straight away, but that didn't keep her from being disappointed when she didn't.

Huffing, she stopped for a moment and looked around. She could barely see over the tall grasses, and she wondered if that was making her miss anyone. If they weren't looking, they probably could have easily missed her despite her white coat. She was smaller than average, and was hidden well amongst the grasses.

"Hello?" she called quietly, feeling small. But she was determined. Her father had said that a lot of lions lived here, and so she figured it was only a matter of time before she found one!

As she stood there, she thought she heard something move a bit off to her left. It kept moving, and it passed in front of her, she thought. But she couldn't see through the grasses! Wiggling her bum, she then jumped up, her tail flying randomly. It was then that she saw another lion, bigger than her but then again who wasn't bigger than her? She grinned, and immediately ran forward.

Yet she didn't know exactly where he was, so she ended up running straight into him. Falling to the ground, she laughed and rolled over, dirt clinging to her fur.

"Hello!" she exclaimed delightfully.

Inari wasn't focusing on where he was going, not really, passing through the grass he was musing in his mind...what else he could do, where he could go, who he could ask advice of, what he should do now. So many questions, he new he himself couldn't answer them. Ah well, so it goes he supposed.

Soon thought Inari felt something hit him, he got pushed back, fell back onto his bum and looked forward to see a small white and black thing roll over, exclaiming 'hello.' He blinked, golden eyes set on it...her, flicked his tail and wondered why she was such a hurry.

He pushed the thought from min d and stood up, pawing the dust out of his fur.

"Hello," he said tilting his head, peering at her, smile on his maw, he had never seen her around before. She looked younger then him too, but maybe not too much younger. "I'm Inari...who're you? You in a hurry to get somewhere?" was it a good idea to have someone as young as her be alone?

Amesi giggled, glad that he hadn't gotten mad at her for running into him. She had forgotten in her excitement, but her father had warned her to be careful around other lions. It was sometimes hard to tell if they wanted to harm you or not, so it was always best to stay a respective distance away until their motives were confirmed. She had immediately broken that rule by running into him, but that wasn't her fault right?

Wiggling, she rolled back onto her paws, her back now thoroughly dirtied. That was the downside of having a mostly white coat: you got dirty really easily.

"Inari!" she repeated, making sure she wouldn't forget the name. "I'm Amesi! My daddy just let me go out," she explained, hoping to give him the reason for why he might not have had seen her before. She was determined to meet everyone in the pride!

"Hurry?" she giggled. "I'm not hurrying anywheres. I saw you and I wanted to meet you!" Was that strange? She hoped not.

Inari really hadn't met anyone so excited to meet him before. This was...a strange encounter, strange in a good way though, for a moment he felt like he was important to someone else besides himself for a moment.

Her father just let her go out?

That made a bit of sense.

She was probably just excited to go out on her own for the first time. He rememebred what it was like for him when he was a cub, yes, good times, but he was bigger now, older, so it was a better time for him right now rather then when he was a cub. Though...he did meet Mrost when he was young, so his cub-hood wasn't all that bad.

"Amesi, thats a nice name, so you've never been out on your own before? Want to walk around to a few places?" least he could maybe have some fun today.

Amesi noted that the other hadn't seemed to think she was completely insane and he hadn't moved to attack her or anything, so she took all of this as a good sign. Maybe they could be friends!

As he said that she had a nice name, she beamed with pride. She rather liked her name, though she had no idea what it meant. But it made her happy to know that someone else thought her name was nice too. It made her think that she wasn't so different from everyone else as she had originally thought. Maybe her father was just paranoid.

"Nope!" she said, puffing her chest out slightly. She was proud to finally be out on her own. "I'm going to go exploring everywhere!" she exclaimed, and was exciting when he asked her if she wanted to walk around.

"Yes! Yes! Yes!" she said quickly, dancing around on her paws. "I want to go everywhere!"

Inari just peered at her, with a stare that was like 'where is all of this energy coming from...', but at least she was excited. Least he could do something today rather then train himself, training himself at this size was getting rather boring, he need to be larger to be an affective hunter.

He flicked his tial, turned and took a few steps, then peered over his shoulder to make sure she was coming. He didn't really need to start walking, then realize he was all by himself, and know that he left a small cub all by herself.

Amesi blinked at the other, noticing his blank stare. She wondered what it meant. Was he annoyed with her, confused? She wasn't sure, but she hoped it wasn't anything bad. It would be horrible if her first possible friend turned out to think she was crazy. She wasn't crazy! She would prove that to him... somehow.

As he took a few steps away, she frowned at first. The young female thought that he was leaving her because he didn't like her. But then he looked back, and she realized that he wanted her to follow him.

Smiling from round ear to round ear, the cub leaped then quickly caught up with him.

"Where are we going? Are we going to go exploring? I love exploring, don't you?" she babbled, bouncing on her paws. It was obvious that she had some secret stash of energy hidden away in her small body.

Inari really couldn't believe so much energy could come from such a tiny thing. He pushed the thought out of mind and kept padding along, making sure to not go so fast so that she could keep up, and not get tired. He looked around, wondering where they could go that wouldn't be too far from this spot. He didn't want to take her too far out, just on her first day.

"Have you seen the water hole? Its really big...there are a lot of fish in the water...want to go there?" he asked looking down at her bounce on her paws. Wow, so much energy, he wished he had that much energy when he trained himself, perhaps then he might get a lot stronger and bigger.

Amesi loped easily along the other's side. Though she did have a weak heart, she wasn't exerting herself too much here. She was merely walking, and walking hardly made her tired, especially with how much energy she had stored away. It was as if all those days of being unable to go out were suddenly exploding in this one moment. All of her unspent energy was simply coming out.

"Water hole?" she echoed. "Daddy has taken me to get a drink, but I never really looked at it," she confessed. "Fish?" she echoed again. What were fish?

Wiggling, excited to find out, she bounced and bumped him playfully. "Let's go see... fish!" she exclaimed, still wondering what these fish were. Her father hadn't told her anything about fish. Were they nice?

Feeling so curious about the fish, she bolted ahead of him. But then she realized that she didn't know where this watering hole was. If there were fish in this watering hole, then she didn't know which one he was talking about. She had certainly never seen these fish before.

"Let's go!" she repeated.

Holy...he mused in his mind. Amesi had so much energy it was basically unbelievable. Ah well, he flicked his tail an nodded when she spoke about the fish. So at lest she had been there before, so it wouldn't surprise her too much. But she didn't know about fish? That was rather strange.

He watched as she ran forwards, then stopped, he laughed, she didn't know where to go but was really excited. He padded after her until they were caught up again and then he stopped, pointed with his paw to the shimmering top of the water, "Its there...ready to go see some fish?"

Amesi wiggled her bum, wishing very much that her father could see her. She was making a new friend! Surely that would make him happy. If she had more friends to look out for her, then her father wouldn't have to worry himself so much. She really did get upset when he worried. It made her think that she was doing something wrong.

Flicking her tail and dancing on her paws, she waited for him to catch up then show her the way. As he did so, her amazing blue eyes flicked immediately in the direction he had motioned towards.

And there sitting was a watering hole. She laughed at herself. And she had thought she was lost! Maybe she knew these lands better than she had originally suspected. It didn't matter though. Today was too good of a day to really think about anything other than having a good time with her new friend Inari.

"Yes!" she squeaked, her whole body vibrating with excitement. But she was also a bit nervous. She had never seen fish before. Dancing on her paws again, she watched the water, as if it would creep closer if she looked away. On one paw, she wanted desperately to go and see the fish. But on the other paw, she felt apprehension. What if she didn't like fish?

There was only one way to find out. "Let's go!" she said, then ran forward. She stopped at the edge of the water, and then looked back towards the male. "Where are they?"

Inari watched as Amesi seemed to be full of excitement, a smile was upon his maw. At least he could have some fun today, he was even making a friend in Amesi, that was nice. It was always good to have lots of friends, perhaps then Inari's fear of one day becoming lonely and being alone would disappear.

He padded after her, he didn't run, no need to,his legs were longer then hers. When he got up to her he smiled and peered in the water. Where were they indeed? Where was that place he and his friend Shin were standing at?

"Come on, this way.." Inari said, flicking his tail and padding along the edge until he saw the top of the water begin to ripple from movements of the fish close to the edge of the water. "There..." Inari pointed a paw to the area, "See them? Come take a closer look..."

Padding there he looked into the water, watched the fish scales reflect light and he smiled, dipping his paw into the water, feeling move under his paw. Yea, this was the spot that he and Shin were at. "They won't hurt...go ahead and try."

Her heart beat strong against her chest as Amesi bounced about, excited as anyone could be. She paused for a moment, this beat against her rib cage having hurt rather harshly. She wondered what it was, but before she could really figure it out the feeling was gone. She blinked her blue eyes, flicking her ears at Inari and giving him a sort of confused look.

But a moment later she had forgotten all about the pain as he found the fish and motioned for her to go closer. She did so immediately, her paws scurrying quickly over the ground.

He pointed and she strained her eyes to look into the water and see the fish that he was pointing out. At first she didn't see anything, the sun merely glared off the water at her. But then she moved her head a little bit and she saw the ripples, then soon after the fish that created them below the surface. Her body wiggled excitedly. Fish!

"They are so shiny!" she commented, lowering her nose rather close to the water. As Inari stuck his paws into the water, she blinked and watched him, waiting to see what the fish would do. But they did nothing aside from spaz out then go back to their normal swimming.

"They don't look smart," she said, tilting her head as he told her to try. Water didn't really appear like something she would want to touch, but she really wanted to feel the fish beneath her paws. So, ignoring her instinctive hatred of water, the black and white cub slowly dipped her paw in, slowly at first because of the discomfort then quickly. Immediately she felt the fish beneath her paws, and she pulled her paw out quickly in surprise. "They feel funny," she giggled.
