Drez had been disapointed that their home pool was not running properly and he wanted to go swimming. So Val took him to the local pool. Both of them walked out of the dressing room. Val with her brown hair tied back to keep it out of her hair and green one-piece bathing suit that matches her eyes. Drez unlike other toddler around he didn't have water-wings on. He is nervous about new places but with water nearby he is more relaxed than he normally would be. "Drez, I'm going to go over to the other end of the pool where there are lounge chairs," "...Ok." With his tongue flicking in and out and found where the chairs were and let his mother go. Drez wandered close to the pool to get his bearings of the new place.

The indoor pool was a cyclone of sound, compromised of laughter, splashes, and screams. To most people, such a cacophony would surely be headache inducing. But to Lewis, the sound was beautiful, as it meant fun was close at hand. He stood close to the rail on the shallow side of the pool, an arm held out to his parent, his gray eyes eagerly staring at the water. Oh, he couldn't wait!
Bug, unlike Lewis, wasn't enjoying the loudness of the pool at all. However, he had promised to take the flamingo child to the pool today, and no matter how much he disliked social settings, the Zurg wasn't one to break his promises. So here he was. "Don't drown. Just try not to go towards the deep end. You might have webbed feet, but that doesn't mean you're going to be a perfect swimmer automatically," Bug warned with detached affection as he finished pushing the bright orange water wing onto Lewis' arm. Flamingos might be water fowl, but knowing Lewis, that part of his DNA had completely surpassed him. Thus, water wings were to be used until the boy could prove that he was a competent swimmer.
"I'm going to go sit on those chairs over there, okay? Don't drown," Bug repeated, giving both of the water wings one last tug to assure they were on correctly.
"'Kay, I gots it!" Lewis said, pulling his arm from the green grasp of his parent. Finally! One hand gripping the rail, Lewis took a few steps into the pool, marveling at the feel of the water as it moved around his scaled feet. Fun! Pausing, Lewis swept his eyes across the room to make sure the aleen was watching, but his eyes saw someone else before he saw the green Zurg...
Say, that kid didn't have feet! How weird! Unaware of the fact that the footless one couldn't see, Lewis waved at him and jumped up and down in an attempt to get his attention. "HIHIHI!"

Drez heard the splashing of someone jumping up and down and he turned to hear the other kid saying 'hi', not knowing if the other was talking to him. So he slithered near the other kid and playing with his necklace all the way there. "Um, are you talking to me?" Pointing to himself.

Watching with amazement as the scaled boy slithered over, Lewis grinned even wider. Oh, so that's how he got around! At first, he had wondered how someone with no feet moved, but the other kid seemed to manage it just fine. Lewis suddenly found himself wondering how one climbed stairs without feet.
"'Course I was talkin' ta you! Di'nt you see me wavin'?" Lewis replied, his eyes going to the necklace around the other boy's neck as he played with it. "That's purdy," he said, pointing to the necklace and nodding, the black curls on his head bouncing.

Drez a little nervous about being asked if he had seen the other waving at him. But he couldn't, smell, sound and vivbrations had given him information he needed. He looked down and playing with his necklace. "Um...I can't see you....I'm blind..." he said it and felt a little better about the fact. "Thanks, I got it before my mother came and got me. By the way I'm Drez and whats your name?" he asked.

Lewis merely blinked at the other boy for a moment. Blind? What was that?! He'd never heard of it before. Then, slowly, what the boy had said before that 'blind' word kicked in and Lewis gasped. "Blind?! Dat means ya can't see? But why?" Shutting his eyes tight, Lewis tried to imagine what it would be like to be...blind. He decided after two seconds of darkness that being blind wasn't for him and opened his eyes. It was almost scary, in a way. "You'm must be brave!"
Listening to how the boy got his necklace, Lewis almost felt jealous. Almost. Them people didn't ever give him anything! But, then again, Lewis supposed, he wasn't...blind. That made sense. "Mah name is Lewis," he grinned. "Nice ta meet'cha."
After his greeting, Lewis was at a loss for words for once in his young life. Usually he would offer to play a game or something, but since Drez couldn't see, it made the possibility of a game very slim. But he had to have come to the pool for a reason, right? "Do ya know how ta swim," Lewis asked, moving his feet in the water. Could blind people swim?

"Yep thats right." he said. Thinking for a bit. "Well ever since I was born I haven't been able to see, but I don't know why," he replied and thinking that he would ask his mom why he was blind. For him it is just a fact of life. "I guess that I'm brave, but I have never 'seen' eather, so I just don't know. Well its nice to meet you Lewis," Drez said.
Drez giggled at the swimming question. "Yes I can and I'm very good at it, its in my DNA for swimming." he said smiling brodly at Lewis and showed him the end of his tail that is like a large paddle for very easying swimming. Then climing into the water going right past Lewis, flicking his tongue out to get a better 'view' of Lewis. A little ways past Lewis were the water was just deep enough and swam showing him he could. "See...come on what type of game do you want to play?" Drez asked as his tail moved back and forth keeping his head well above the water.

Ever since he was born? Well, why was he born like that? Why wasn't Lewis born blind, or the aleen, or all of the other people at the pool? How come Drez was the only one? Didn't seem exactly fair in Lewis' opinion. Drez was missing out on all of the good stuff! "But don't ya ever wish ya cud see? Ya can look at da sky, look at...at ice cream!" Mmm, ice cream.
Looking at Drez's tail as it was shown to him, Lewis made a small gasp. Blind people could swim! "Yore DNA? Whut's dat? Mine is, um..." What was his? He'd heard Bug say it and even before the aleen had become his parent, the people at the place had said it. "A fluhmango? Yah, I think dat's it. A fluhmango. I gots these feets becuz of it." Picking up a foot from the water, Lewis was going to show Drez the webbed foot when he remembered that the snake boy couldn't see. Embarrassed, he put the foot back down.
Lewis stepped aside as Drez moved past him into the water. He was a good swimmer! "'Kay, I'm comin'..." Lewis stated hesitantly, suddenly thankful for the water wings on his arms. He didn't have a tail, so he might drown! Taking a few more steps, Lewis stopped when the water was slightly higher than his knees. Hmm, he would walk out further later. "I dun know. I've never been to a pool before! Whut type of games can we play?"

"Well...sometimes I wish that I could see colors and people. But I do have a different way of seeing. I 'see' through my other sences, like smell, taste and touch. Two many ways of seeing are with my tonuge." he said and sticking it out for Lewis to see. "With my tonuge I 'see' with smells and can find almost anything and another is with my hands. I can sence the slight changes in things when I touch them and I know what they are and that is another way I can 'see' people. I can feel how the sun feels when I feel warmth on my scales and other things," he replied.
"I was told that I'm a Banded sea krait, its a type of water snake." Senceing Lewis hesitation, he just smiled and splashed water his way and also heading back to him where he wouldn't tire too much.
"Well I don't know. Mostly I just swim back and forth, from one end to the next. We can always make something up," Drez said thing some more as to what they could play.

((Sorry this is so late! My brian kind of went 'WHOOSH!' one day. D8 ))
"With your tongue?" Lewis asked, staring at Drez's forked tongue. That was confusing. Sticking out his own tongue, which was a normal pink "human" tongue, Lewis attempted to...smell with it by wiggling it. "But how can ya smell with your tongue? Can only taste with it," he said, pulling his tongue back into his mouth. "Do ya taste smells?" Hmm...food kind of tasted like it smelled. Maybe it was the same thing?
Giggling at the splashing water, Lewis splashed some back at Drez with his hand. "Water snake, huh? Dat's why you can swim good!" Continuing to stand in the knee-deep water, Lewis grinned as Drez swam closer. It would be more fun in the deep.. "I've got these water wingers on, so we can go farther." He began to walk forward slowly.
Stopping, Lewis looked around him, wanting to see what the other children at the pool were doing. Most of them were jumping into the water with loud yells. Others were simply bobbing up and down, not really confidant in their swimming abilities. "Maybe ya can help me learn how ta swim? I dun really like these things," he said, fingering one of the water wings on his arms. And after he could swim as good as Drez, then they could play games!

"In a way I do taste smells but its hard to explane that body can tell the difference between smells and tastes, its just a snake thing. Thats all that I can really explane about it, for I'm not entierly sure how it works. I just do it. Tho it might explane about it in a book on snakes." he replied splashing more water Lewis's way.
"Well from what my mother says, 'that it takes pratice to make a better swimmer that land dwellers.' I can help you pratice. How my mother swims is kicking her feet to keep afloat. What type of feet do you have?" he asked. The only type of feet that he has touched are his mothers and she said hers were 'human' feet. So he wondered if Lewis's were like that. "Then we can go to the wall of the pool and practice kicking in the water, ok?" he asked. Well for him it would just be paddleing in the water and not kicking.

"Oh." Well, darn! How was Lewis supposed to figure out this sorta stuff from a book? He couldn't read! The aleen had been going over his letters with him, but reading was a different matter all together. He might know the letters, but he didn't know the words. Stupid letters, rearranging themselves like that...
"Everything takes practice," Lewis grumbled as Drez said this. It did seem that way, at least. But he was willing to practice to get good at swimming! "I'll kick my feet too, then." But what kind of feet did he have? Casting his gray eyes downward, Lewis wiggled his feet, looking at them through the water. They definitely weren't 'human' feet like Drez had said. They had scales, webs, and were pink! "I dun know. Not 'human' feet. I have Lewis feet, I guess? When we get to da wall, you can feel them, kay?" That seemed easiest, since Lewis had no idea how to describe them to Drez.
With this, Lewis started to shuffle toward the wall, ready to practice his kicking!

"Ok," Drez repiled to touching Lewis feet and he was excited about that, because Lewis said that his feet weren't 'human'. Drez followed Lewis to the pool edge to help Lewis learn how to swim or at least the best that he could.
