A'nala, on the move now, grew restless. She had just recently made a kill, if only to keep herself from starving. Bags under her eyes because of her lack of sleep, the recurring nightmares of .. the leopards paws over her. She shivered, in disgust.
And she had left -- lonely and sad. Perhaps fate would have mercy on her, and never let her see him again. She prayed feverently for that. Xanthus could find a new girl, worthy of him, but in particular, someone that wasnt her.

He'd finally gotten used to his new adult form, he'd found muscles he didnt know he had and had slowly built them up. His quest to return home had fallen at his paws, his mind flooded with the images of the soft coated lioness.
He sighed, he remembered the last night he saw her. He closed his eyes and shook his head, she was to good for him. Nothing would change that, he swiped his claws paw over the grass, the blades fell defenseless against the attack. He rose to his paws, he was going to find her again. He wasnt sure he'd tell her his feelings, but he'd see her if it was the last thing he did.

A'nala, feeling a prickle up her neck, slowly turned around. A yellow lion .. was in the distance? Not too far from her, but it certainly looked like someone she -didnt- want to see currently. Jupming down from her perch, with a air of elegance, she planned on leaving right away.
Seeing him, would be .. awkward, and she didnt want to face that at the moment. She took several steps, taking a deep breath. She was sure, she wanted to do this.. right?

The movement up ahead caught his attention instantly. A hunter he was, so movements tended to catch his attention rather easily, he tried to focus in on what had moved, its slender shape told him it was a lioness.
He lifted his muzzle and sniffed at the air, as if he could pick up a scent. But the breeze wasnt in his favor, with a grunt he decided to try and figure out who it was. He padded over towards the unknown, slowly coat color could be seen better...was it her? The question instantly popped into his mind, his pace quickened.

A'nala, her eyes hearing quick, but light footsteps coming towards her, sighed. He had seen her, and she wasnt going to get out of this meeting, quickly as she would hope. Forcing her body to relax, and her shoulders to drop in dissapointment, she grimaced. It was hard, when all she really wanted to do, was to run and meet up with Xanthus.
".. Oh its you." She said, hoping her voice sounded flat and dissapointed. "What did you want? I hope its worth my time, to interrupt my hunting." She gestured to the few bones,, the remainder to her kill. Inwardly she winced, not believing how she was acting. Truthfully, he hadnt interrupted anything, in fact had brightened and saddened her moment. But it was required to drive Xanthus away, to someone else.

He slowed as he came up to her, he tried to hide the hurt she inflected upon him. He was innocent at this game of love, and all it seemed to be doing was ripping him a new hide, he watched her silent for a long while. Searching, to see if this was a sad game she was playing with him...
"Oh, yes..me. Sorry to disappoint you." He said, his tones were gruff, as if he were doing his best to hide the hurt. "It may not seem important to you. But it is to me." His tail flicked out behind him, he shook his mane. He was proud of his golden mane, but at the moment he felt as lowly as flies that swarmed elephants. "Im going to find the new queen of Pride Lands, I've found out I need to speak with her before going home. I want you to come with me A'nala...to come home with me." His voice weavered for a moment, he wanted nothing more than to have her smile at him.

A'nala felt her heart tear in half, as she read Xanthus's hurt eyes. She kept her expression straight, to keep herself from waivering, and from his finding out the truth. She desperately wanted to apologize, but she knew that she couldnt. Not anymore.
She held out a paw, about to step closer, when she heard his propsal. In the short time that they had met, she had wanted this .. but now. The urge to throw herself into his arms, and cry silently was tempting, but she forced herself to shake her head instead. ".. something happened, that you couldnt protect me from. Dont ask what it was." She turned around, giving him a cold shoulder. "But why would I care about your silly family? And about joining your silly pridelands?" She scoffed, almost choking on her words, on the verge of tears. "Go find some other lioness to fit your whims. I'm sure that even -you- could do that, right?"

He'd waited for her to step closer, but when she didnt, his heart broken. He watched her, listened to her but couldnt say anything. He wanted to protect her always, but it seemed he'd failed before signing up to be her hero forever, now it seemed he was naught but a zero.
"I see." He finally said, his ears plastered against his head. "My family isnt silly, if you have a problem with me than fine. But dont insult them, your better than that." His voice was gruff as the pain raked through him. "If you'd said you didnt want to join, I wouldnt have. I wouldnt have thought twice about Pride Lands..." He confessed, he'd left it all for her, for one of her smiles. At her last comments his head jerked to the side as if he'd been smacked. "I'll go..but I wont find someone else..and yes, even someone as dumpy, and lame as I can leave..." he didnt move an inch though..unbelieveing of what was going on.

A'nala kept her back faced towards him. "Hmm? Not doing your job so well, did you? I hope your next girl is as ..lets just not say, shall we?"
All A'nala could wish for now, was for the happiness of Xanthus is some far, other away land. She would have no more 'happiness' after this meeting. Had she finally made a point, that she had no more of a need to say hurtful words? She sincerely hoped so.
"Anyways." A'nala, determinded to regain her composure, manged to turn around without giving anything away. "Have fun with your next girl, Xanthus." her voice, now mocking, as she turned away to leave. To her surprise, she realized the mockery was her true feelings, on the matter if Xathus did find another girl. Jealousy? She pushed it to the back of her mind, knowing these feelings were not rightfully hers, as she made a clean exit to leave Xanthus.

He didnt even say anything, what else was there to say? He watched her for a long moment, eyes narrowed slightly. "As you wish." He muttered as he turned away and began back towards the boarder of Pride Lands, tis where he was staying at the moment.
Maybe she was right, maybe he should just move on to someone else...but why did it hurt so much?
