Many apologies if this stretches your screen. ^^;;

I got this off of the Phantasy Star IV board on GameFAQs

User Image

This picture was taken from the Saturn PS Collection. People were saying these enemies were removed because they would be considered offensive to U.S. audiences at the time. They kinda look like mini Profound Darkness ghosts.

They are disabled in the U.S. game code. They appear in The Edge and in the cave where you get the Elsydeon.

These enemies are called Akasha and Shadow Mirage. They use the following attacks:
Normal attack (sparkly stream)
Shadowbind (reduce agility, except for androids)
Stardust (powerfull magic attack rains stars)

Neat. I never knew this before. I know about the disabled Vanleadr in PSII but that thing doesn't have cleavage. rofl

@_@ That's kinda creepy. Though I wonder, if they felt the need to cut that out why not the last third of the Profound Darkness?
Also the PSII monster you're thinking of is Vanleadr, according to phantasy-star.net. Judging by it's size compared to Van and Aerotank it'd be a boss or something.

Vanleadr? I thought I might be mistaken. Thanks. I'll fix it. domokun

I always wondered why Vanleadr was taken out. Is it in the japanese game or was it removed from that version as well?

It is weird. The final form of Profound Darkness is far larger than these enemies. And her chest is huge. rofl
Maybe they thought that editing the final form would just be too much.

Wow, that's the first I'd heard of either! eek

I wonder if they thought PD III should be left that way since in a way it's somewhat similar to Mother Brain. *shrugs*

There's apparantly alot of changes made to the games. I remember a number of years ago I was cleaning my room and looked through an old Genesis era gaming mag, and saw that they had a Preview of Phantasy Star IV. One of the screenshots they had was a party of (I think) Wren, Rune, Alys, Chaz, and Gryz (I'm POSITIVE about the Alys and Wren being on the same team part since it was so shocking it etched itself into my memory.) walking around on the one of the world maps (forgot which). eek I've been looking for the mag so I could scan it and show you guys, but I haven't been able to find it. I hope I still have it... redface

I guess seeing that image was the driving force behind me editting my ROM's party many years later to shove Alys in there, since they'd originally had it be possible.

eek Really?

I'm thinking that magazine also had an article on Shining Force 1, and it had a picture with Max and Yogurt on it (at Gong's place) and Yogurt was saying to Max "Greetings Goofball!" Is that the same one you're thinking of?

Sounds vaguely familiar....

Me and my brother had a huge stack of gaming mags and comic books that we stored in the kitchen closet. Then an incedent occured that we called "The Great Flood" gonk

The bathroom was above that closet and one day the pipe that supplied water to the toilet burst. It flooded the entire closet with water and everything in there was destroyed. A few mags that had been taken out of there prior were saved and used to start a new collection.

I lost alot of other magazines when I moved though, including 14 years worth of Mad and Cracked. I've got a Game Informer subscription now. Might as well start over again. Better luck this time. sweatdrop

But those old magazines were great. I probably had that one you were referring to at some point in the past.

Dang, that sucks. sad If my mag isn't still around somewhere, I wouldn't be surprised if my mom went through my stuff and threw it out. I'm 24 and she STILL randomly throws out or gives away my belongings without asking nor telling me! mad

I had some PS magazine articles and images that I wanted to scan too. Including a preview of PS2 and 3 from a Sega Visions holiday buying guide. I had several articles and images that I hadn't seen on many sites, some which I'd never seen online at all.

I should have taken better care to store the ones that I lost when I moved. Now someone else has them. They probably threw them out too. gonk
