Linneas was out of breath, as were his sister and adopted daughter. His Feien Avitus was seated atop his head, clutching almost painfully at the Tale's hair. The Fandangle, Ning, was standing beside the teen, looking at the building with a critical eye. Linneas re-read the address again, hoping he had interpreted his mother's hand writing correctly.
"Alright Pae, let's hope she's home." His voice was thick with concern as they marched up to ring the bell.
The Legend was curious about where they were going and why her mama wasn't around. But her big brother Linneas promised they were going to be alright, even if they couldn't go home.
"Will mama be joining us soon?" She asked.
Linneas bit his lip, "I hope so."
Arya peered at the establishment from behind Paestri, she didn't like not having her room or her bed. "I wanna go home." she frowned.

Watching the world go by up above her Naeva sighed as she viewed the sky line from her bedroom window, the comfy window box scattered with her favourite pillows fell around her as she waited from something to happen, anything, anything at all. She was bored of seeing the clouds chase after each other as the sun couldn't make up its mind wither it was a good idea to come out or not. She hated the fact that Matisha had too much work on at the moment to even start a decent argument let alone just have the energy to talk to her. The distant dream of finally being able to talk and to walk without depending on someone was vastly losing its shine.
She still couldn't do anything, in this era she was still considered a child by age and nature, from what she felt about herself, from her previous life, she was already working hard in the world. But she couldn't do anything. Even her magic was halted, deemed too dangerous, or she was too inexperienced.
Now that she was here, now that she had grown, become more adaptable, could walk, talk, eat, sleep and think on her own, write spells, create potions, enhance her abilities, find her true self, do anything she could possibly think of! But when it was all said and done she was still but a child and children weren't allowed to do these things yet. Naeva's fascination with the sky line kept her eyes firmly on the clouds, she appreciated the artistic movement of the birds, the creeping nature of the clouds and the temperamental mood Mother Nature seemed to throw about that affected all of us, was visible to see in the sky. It was only by chance that she looked down at the path way, her eyes focusing on the moving figures just below her.
"Matisha? I thought she had work to do? That harlot she..she...wait...wait that’s not Matisha." Naeva's mind raced about trying to make out the people below, they looked young, one seemed almost too familiar but she couldn't figure out why. Pushing herself of the box seat Naeva raced through the house, catching hold banisters and door ways to fling herself faster around her home.
"Matisha! Matisha!" She screamed almost unnervingly as she knew how much Matisha hated to be disturbed, she bounded into the office space to confront the Witch.
"Naeva! What the heck are you doing love? Am trying to work here and I can't do anything with you screaming your head of! What do you want?"
Breathing heavily Naeva pointed a weary finger towards the direction of the front door.
"Peo-people are coming, down the path. I don't recognize them."
"You mean like a sale rep or something?" Matisha questioned as she turned around on her chair, it wasn't every day Naeva got worked up over visitors, and she knew she was bored but this was going to extremes.
"No...No, not sale's people, just people. People I haven't seen before, no, wait, that’s wrong, one of them looks very...well am sure I have seen her before. But the others are a mystery. What are we going to do?"
Matisha hid a grin, why Naeva was become so aggravated was beyond her but she knew when not to push her for details.
"Heh, honey their probably people I know that you just haven't met yet. I do have friends outside this household you know. But come on, we'll go meet them hey? Am sure your just getting too over excited for the wrong reasons."
Getting up from her seat Matisha calmly made her way to the front door, Naeva almost too frighten to follow stalked closely behind, not wanting to see too much when she opened the gateway.
"You sure you shouldn't have a spell ready?"
"Ha-ha, Naeva! Honey! Stop panicking! what has come over you girl, you're such a worry wart!" Matisha chuckled as she turned the rusting lock in the ancient wood and prised open the door to her home.

At the sight of the door opening, Linneas held his breath. He hated asking for favors of anyone, no matter how he badly needed it. It was an inconvenience for everyone involved, but the Tale couldn't do anything about. He tightened his grip on Arya's hand, half-dragging, half-tugging the little girl towards the house.
Paestri, on the other hand, recognized her god aunt and let out a squeal. "Auntie Matishaaaaa!!!" she cried in delight, making a mad dash for the older woman. Her arms latched around Matisha's waist, grinning from ear to ear.
"Paestri!!" Linneas gasped, flustered and visibly fatigued as he chased after his sister. Avitus gave a yelp as his bonded suddenly shot forward, had his tiny hands not been clamped firmly on the red strands, he'd have fallen off.
Arya struggled to keep up with her adopted father, but in the end she just let him pull her along.

The sudden mad dash that happened in front of her made Matisha squeal with shock as the flurry of pink ribbons and lace attached itself onto her.
"What’s the!?" She fumbled as she half fell; half leaned back onto Naeva as the legend screamed in fear over the unexpected attack.
"Ack, run Matisha run!" Shouted Naeva as she allowed the witch to take the brunt of the hug as she fled the room, not daring to take a second glance to see Matisha briefly hugging the other person and laughing to herself.
"Pae! You scared me half to death girl! What are you doing here? Where...where is Huni sweetie?" Matisha questioned as she peered over to the other trio stood behind her friend's legend.
"Is...Is everything ok...Are you one of Huni's kids too? I remember her talking about other children...but really she should also be explaining this to me as well, please come in and enlighten me on this lovely visit."
Naeva pressed herself against the wall of her front room, pushing herself against the cabinet that stood tall and shadowed her hiding place. She could just about hear her guardian speaking to the intruders. "I don't understand, why didn't she just banish them, or at least curse their future crops!" she thought as she shook her head in failure, her guardian just never thought about anything.
"If she where to welcome everyone into her home who knows if they be spies, the king's men, witch hunters even! I know...I know my time was tarnished with them but surely they roam this era too." Remaining in her place Naeva kept quite to catch what ever conversation Matisha was making with them, her curiosity getting the better of her as she peeped around the door frame.

"Mama's back at the shop, sleeping." Paestri explained good naturedly, not in the least bit concerned that her guardian was actually stone cold and barely alive. Then again, Paestri didn't quite understand why she should fear for her mother, or why the shop suddenly shut them out. "Linny got mama's address book and I remembered your name so we went here to see you."
Linneas stood a few feet from the Legend and the witch, he didn't know she was a witch and frankly it didn't matter to him whether she was a witch, a human, or an alien bent on taking over the world with pickles. If she was in Huni's address book and Paestri knew her, she might be the only one he could ask for help. "I'm really sorry about Pae, and I don't have much time. I'm Linneas, mom's son and she's currently not herself. I have to go back to help her soon. If it's not too much trouble, could Paestri and maybe Arya stay with you for a few days?"
Arya peered from behind her father's legs, frowning. She didn't want to stay here, she wanted to go back home. She was certain Avitus, Ning and the bloom Paestri owned wanted to go home as well.
"Sleep over! Sleep over!" Paestri cheered, delighted at the prospect of staying in someone else's home. "Can I? Aunt Matisha? Can I please? Please please please?" her bright begging seemed to make the situation sound less desperate than it really was. She didn't know when Huni would be back to herself, or when the shop would settle down and let them back in.
Worrying was Linneas' job.

Matisha did a half hearted smile, although she loved Huni as a friend and dotted on Pae like she truly was blood related she knew this was a tall order. She could hardly cope with one child let alone Pae and this other young girl, Naeva was a constant reminder never to have more children and this was the nightmare waiting to happen.
"Linneas...I...phew...ok...I err" Matisha tapped her foot and covered her mouth waiting for a clear answer to come to her head, choosing a brand of coffee was stressful enough and she never got the brand she wanted! This was going to use up all her energy.
Naeva looked around the corner of the room she had taken refuge in, she could see Matisha struggling and the tale, tale sign of her mumblings floated over. "What have they done to her? A spell? A Curse even?" How dare they walk into my home and treat Matisha that way, why, why am...Am going to tell them to...to...to...HUMPH!" With a huff of frustration Naeva stomped back up the hallway to stand proudly beside Matisha, the words filling her head of what she was going to say to this trio of ragabounds, words that would fill them with fear and forebode as she prepared for the onslaught of this powerful speech.
"Leave her alone! You, You.......blaaaaaa" A pink tongue finished Naeva sentence as she stuck her tongue out as far as she could at the pink haired girl standing closest to them, all words of fear and foreboding leaving her mind as the young legend continued with her onslaught of the silent type.
"Naeva! Do you mind sweetie? These are my friends, this is Pae ahem I mean Paestri and this is her older brother Linneas and over there is...Arya is it? They mean no harm they just need a place to stay...which settles it."
As if some light bulb over Matisha head had just found solar power Matisha knew how to make her decision. "If Naeva says its ok for you guys to stay, then its ok, since Naeva will be the one looking after them, showing them the ropes hey?"
Naeva looked up at the grinning witch, her tongue now hanging limply as she soaked in what Matisha had said. Naeva knew that Matisha wanted her to make friends, had even spoken about a 'school' which was preposterous since she wasn't a boy, but she did want to talk to someone, anyone her age since she just couldn't understand her old views, or Matisha's, she needed someone else’s.
Staring intensely at Paestri Naeva sniffed and wiped a stray finger under her nose as she looked the pink haired girl up and down. She recognised her, but ever since her dreams became more erratic it was harder to remember things, but this girl, she had a nice aura around her.
"...You’re not allowed to touch my stuff...and...You can't stroke the cats either, their mine too...and the fairies...and the books...but...you can read them with me...but only when I say ok, ok? Naeva did an abrupt head nod and decided to storm of in the other direction only briefly turning around to stomp another foot and wave another hand in Pae's and Arya direction. "Come on then, I haven't got all day!"
Matisha watched in disbelief at her adopted daughter as she hurried into the kitchen.
"Aha...sorry about that but she wants to pick herbs for tonight’s tea, she has an uncanny ability to know which herbs will go perfectly with soup or stew. You can join her if you want."
Turning to Linneas Matisha smiled again "I will take care of them for you and your mother, don't get me wrong she'll be getting an ear full when I see her again. But Huni isn't the type to just dump her kids on me, something must be wrong...are you sure you can handle it on your own?"

Paestri smiled at the other girl, recalling the squishy thingum she managed to procure for her god-aunt. So Naeva was the inspiration for that squishy. The pink-haired girl released her hold on Matisha and giggled as the other girl stuck her tongue out at them.
Icing pink-eyes stared back at Naeva, neither challenging nor submissive. "Okie, show me which is your stuff then." She grinned and skipped after the other girl. She glanced back briefly and motioned for her brother and niece to follow.
"Go on, Arya, go with your Aunt Pae." Linneas instructed as he nudged the blue-haired girl forward.
Arya stubbornly refused to leave the Tale's side, to the point Linneas had to use a stern tone with her. He didn't want to have to speak to her like this, but she left him no choice "Arya, I'm not kidding around here. Go with your aunt. Now!"
The Passenger's lips curled into a frown as she blinked back tears. Silently she stalked after the two girls, glaring daggers at Linneas every now and then.
"I'm really sorry to have to do this, I just don't want to risk putting them in danger." He explained to Matisha, "Thank you so much, I'll be back as soon as possible with Huni. To be honest, I don't really know what to do, because mom might not make it..." He stopped himself, now was not the time for doubt. He'd be with Khia, and the others, they'd help him. After more profuse thanks for her help, Linneas ran back to the shop.

Matisha stood waving at the bobbing head that was Linneas; running back to aid his mother in what ever plight it was she had fallen into. An uncertain feeling gently rested upon Matisha shoulders as she watched the figure run out of sight, a ghastly wind catching her off guard as she realised the day was picking up pace. It had already gone Three pm, her work for the magazine which she had started so vigorously that morning was now forgotten. Pulling the door back round she took once last glimpse down the road as if hoping Huni would suddenly appear laughing at the whole situation, but nothing stirred. "Oh Huni what have you gotten yourself into?...please be safe where ever you are..."
Naeva had this great idea that while the two young girls would be staying with her she would let them in on every secret she knew of how not to get in trouble, unfortunately for Naeva her words of wisdom where spoken from that of a spoilt child’s view of the world and her actions always ended up being mischievous and naughty. Naeva though was less concerned for the reason Paestri and Arya had ended up here but how they were going to act in her home. She felt an almost feverish need to show them everything; like her possessions had taken on a new shine and where alluring even to her. With a stern finger Naeva pointed her hand at objects flying by as she walked towards the back door, she knew her destination to be the herb garden out back but there was no harm in showing the visitors a few choice items along the way.
"And over there is Salaam the black cat, don’t touch him though he is the nastiest familiar I have ever met! I remember when familiars where meant to help not course trouble! He just sits all day getting fat, lazy and smelly, so don't play with him......OH! And over there is my book of my spells and herbs, although am not allowed to do magic so for now it’s my colouring book....oh and here is the garden!"
Naeva pushed open the wooden door leading to the garden with a heave, the bright sunlight running in through the gaps as if escaping some hidden terror. Squinting out the luminous shine Naeva pointed out towards the herb garden to the north end of the garden.
"You can help me pick herbs for the food tonight if you want? We can then talk about what you’re not allowed to do here ok? Don’t worry it’s not hard to remember but you must not forgot or Matisha will tell you off. Like once I tried to get some cat fur for a quaint luck spell I know, I was grounded from the herb garden for weeks, stupid salaam squealed on me." A pout of disapprove hovered over Naeva's face as she thought back upon the event.

The pink-haired girl nodded as Naeva guided them through the house, pointing out things to note and remember. Paestri neither wondered nor questioned why the things were the way Naeva described them to be. She felt no urge to clarify anything, just a calm acceptance.
She showed no worry or concern for what had befallen her guardian, her mama as she used to call Huni. She had seen the red-head's body together with a person her brother called "Uncle Syrie". Both forms were lying on the ground, maybe sleeping? It couldn't be a very comfortable sleep considering they were in the Study. The room was always so dusty and stuffy.
The door to the Study was open ever so slightly, just enough to show her a glimpse before she, Linneas and Arya were forcibly removed from the store. Oddly enough, Malady had been quiet for the entire duration. It had been tucked inside Paestri's ribcage, unmoving ever since they left the store.
Despite all this, Paestri seemed bright and cheerful. "Sure, I'll help pick herbs. But how can a cat squeal? Does he talk?"
Arya kept her distance from the two older girls. She was in a foul mood and scowling deeply. Had she been holding Paestri's bloom, she might have crushed it. Thankfully, it had been handed to Ning and the Fandangle was smart enough to stay near Matisha.
"Ma'am, thank you very much for letting us stay in your home. Linneas has instructed me to be as much help as I can be. I am well adapted for cleaning all structures, that includes door frames and windows. I am also talented in washing laundry." The mechanical creature added.
