Dahabu'Chaka napped in the sun on this fine morning, her golden pelt warm from the direct sunlight. She had been running about, testing her lion legs for how much speed she could coax out of them. Now, however, her legs burned from the work-out, and she was exhausted. However, her emerald eye slid open. She was desperate to explore, and maybe meet other lions! Chaka got up, despite the cries of pain coming from her legs, and headed off into the savannah. She stopped when she saw a lime-green stalk with a fuzzy black tip meandering through the grass, and decided to go check it out.

Noyana crouched low in the tall grass, sticking her tail in the air to "camoflage herself." She was chasing after a butterfly, not knowing that the jackal was nearby. Her attention was channeled entirely into catching the butterfly. It landed on a rock in a nearby clearing, and she lept at it, trapping it under her paw. She didn't squash it though. Honestly, she didn't know what to do with it. She'd keep it there until she could figure out what she wanted to do.

Chaka popped through the grass after following the black tuft through the savannah. When her head emerged from the grasses, she saw a bright yellow lioness with black swirlys. "Hello," Dahabu'Chaka said cheerfully at the lion. She liked to meet others of her kind. Mom had said once that she was a lion, but a small kind of lion. Chaka smiled at the lion happily.

Noyana jumped at the voice behind her. The little jackal had snuck up on her silently, scaring Noyana into letting the butterfly free on accident. It frantically fluttered away, as if Noyana had been squishing it; if she had been, she didn't mean it.
"Hello," Noyana said, observing the golden face of the pup. It looked like it was wearing a necklace, but it was only the jackals fur. "I'm Noyana," She introduced. "If you don't mind my asking..." Noyana said, leaving no time for the jackal to respond before continuing, "What are you?" She was happy to have found yet another type of animal.

"I'm Dahabu'Chaka, Chaka for short," she told the lioness. "And what do you mean 'what am I?'" Chaka asked, insulted a bit. "I'm a lioness just like you! Although I may not look like it..." She admitted. "You're bigger, and probably stronger too. But I'm a type of lion that's particularly small." Dahabu'Chaka said, proud of herself. She didn't like how lions didn't recognize her as one of her kind... She only knew what she was, after all! Maybe it was because her type of lion was so rare in these parts.

"Well, if you're really a lion, you can roar. Every lion under the sun can roar." Noyana said, holding her head high and strutting in front of the odd-shaped lion. "Like this!" Noyana said, before releasing her best roar, which was more like a mew and a growl mixed. She looked back to the jackal and raised an eyebrow as a challenge. "I'm not certain you've got it in you," Noyana said, egging the jackal on to roar.

A challenge on her lion-ism? Ha! Chaka had the best roar there was! "Just you wait and see, my roar is the best in the land!" Chaka boded. She let out her roar, which was like a whine and a growl and a howl combined. However, it didn't sound half bad, considering she was, in reality, a jackal.
She looked smugly at the lioness that had challenged her. "How's that for a roar, Noyana?" She asked wryly. She could tell that they both knew she had proven herself as a lion.

"Wow!" Noyana said, surprised. I guess she really is a lion! She thought to herself with disbelief. "I guess you're right, Chaka," she admitted, not ashamed at all. In fact, Yana was happy that her friend was a lioness! Noyana wanted to introduce Chaka to Chane, or maybe meet Chaka's family. What fun that would be!

"So what do YOU do for fun?" Chaka asked, wanting to know more about this lioness. "I go exploring, I've found tons of cool places here in the Pridelands. Want to come see some of them? Chaka asked. They could have their own little club, and only they'd be allowed in! Having this bigger lion around was good for Chaka too. She may be a lioness herself, but she couldn't stand up to the bigger ones. With Noyana around, she was sure she could. This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

"I bug my siblings... and I explore too, but I haven't really found anywhere cool here in the Pridelands. Don't get me wrong- I love the Pridelands- but I just haven't stumbled on the right place yet." She told the little lion.
"I'd love to go check your places out!" Noyana exclaimed. She didn't have any other plans for the day anyway, so things would work out well. She spent the rest of the day with her friend.
