How long has it been now since that day.... Since the day of Yakuti's return? The tawny hyena rested on her inside of her mate's den. How long has it been since she came here? After being forced from all other territories, she ended up here. Who was to expect that the little juvenile boy who greeted her, the young, sweet, kind, and caring boy, would be the father of her litter? Yakuti, the male she fell for , the one who she felt comfortable around and sometimes when she was lost and just upset, safe. She could never admit it to anyone of the pack. They saw her as this fierce, strong, powerful, rebellious female, one who took s**t from anyone. But when she put under such conditions, she could be just as Yakuti.... soft, kind, caring, protective and dedicated. But when Jammaa came to them, she felt like she was torn between her image and her feelings for her companion. How could anyone take her seriously if she let herself get dominated by a fluffball like Yakuti? No, she wanted respect, she needed the intimination. She pushed Yakuti too far and he came back a beast, a monster. When he attacked her the way he did, it seemed like everything was throw around and she was left to pick the back up and put them back togehter.

Even now, she felt unsafe with him around.

For the past weeks, months, her belly bulged from the new life that he had sown within her. She could not prevent it, she even instigated another shortly after his apology too, but that was out of heat.... right? But she felt it now, they were coming. What about mafa? What abut her litter? She was pregnant as well, right? She did not tell her who the father was, but she knew she was pregnant. For the past days Shira had been drained of everything and could only wander about the safe parts of the graveyard and that was rarely. She felt pathetic. She felt weak. She felt so... useless. Was Yakuti taking her patrol routes? Was he pulling up his own tasks? He must've.

A kick.

A Pain.

A jolt.

"YAKUTI!"

Her cry echo across the graveyard. Hopefully... he heard her.

In fact Yakuti was patrolling, though not as well as he normaly did. He was preocupied, his love was pregnant, and she was due to give birth soon, very soon. He didn't know how he knew, but it seemed like it wasn't right to leave her alone while she was like this. He constantly wondered if she was alright, if she needed him... Before long, Yakuti decided that nothing was more important than him being there for her, so at that moment, the sky blue male spun around and bolted home.

Seconds later came a cry, one in a voice he recognized above all others.

Shira needed him.

It was as he feared, he wasn't there and if he hadn't decided to return, he wouldn't have been in hearing distance. It was the most fortunate thing his concience had done for him his entire life.

"I'm coming Shria!" He called, sprinting full force towards the den. Hopefully he wasn't too late.

"Are you alright?" He panted, darting into the den and stumbling slightly as he came to an abrupt stop.

"I'm here..."

Shira's face was masked in discomfort and pain. How could any female go through such an ordeal? She must make a note to praise Mafa going through this once and only to come up with Mabozi. She whined and gripped at her body as she felt a series of jolts pinged up her body over and over again as if nuetralizing every single never, not setting them all off at once. She shot a glare at Yakuti, hating him for what he did to her. She never wanted this, she even warned him to stay away when he returned that day, she gave reason but he insisted that he show his love for her. All his fault.

"This is all your damn fault, you know. Now get over here!"

She howled out as she felt a strong jolt as something passed through her as if something was puulled from her making her feel rather...incomplete. Her body trembled and shivered as she looked down.

A pup of her fur. A nice blue color and just a good size, that felt so painful as if Yakuti had just mauled her. Then again, she never felt that before. She weakly reached down and pulled her close, putting him down before her.

She felt calmed again, relaxed. As she leaned back against him, panting. The pup was mewing and wiggling against her, crying out from time to time. She ignored him. After what that little thing did to her, he could handle himself.

"Actaeon.... That is what I am calling him. I.... came up with the name when I was.... talking with mafa..... Damn, that hurt more than a hit from a buffalo..... You know.... if I didn't know any better I'd say..... !!!!"

Suddenly another shock of pain, she snarled out almost snapping at him when another passing came through her. She howled in pain as another mass fell between her. Okay, take that last comment back, this one hurt a hell a lot more than the last one and it looked a bit bigger too. What the hell did he do to her!? What is in the water around here!? She whimpered and moved it bside the other.

"Ophos.... damn, where was I. Oh yeah.... if I didn't know better, I'd say that you give pretty big pups...."

Shira looked down at her belly again and sighed. Damn, there was still more. A kick again. And they want out. She looked up at Yakuti's large body and scowled. Almost instantly, she lerched up and snapped at his scruff, bringing him down, she bit tight as she pushed the last two out with all her might. First one. A minute and then the last.

Two girls. One shared her traits dominately but the other.... it was a straight split between the two. With a heaving sigh, she fell back against her mate. Even if she felt a bit unsafe with the large male, even threatened at times, he was still a good pillow.

Oh yeah... got to give Mafa praise for going through the labor and this popping of pups. Hopefully, she would be better off on her second time around.

Yakuti could only watch in horror as his pups, no, their pups, suddenly decided that they were going to come out, and boy did it look painful. Not many things could make Shira howl like that, if anything.

He yelped suddenly out of surprise as Shira suddenly pulled him down. He lay beside her, feeling her jaws clamped around his neck. He gritted his teeth, but took the pain willingly. He deserved it and more for what pain he caused Shira, physically and emotionally.

A moment later he felt her release him, and her weight against him. It was over, he knew she was done. Now he looked to pups she had given birth to, they were beautiful beyond words, and more importantly, they were theirs.

"Auri, you'll be Auri." He said with a nod, indicating the bright yellow pup. "And you'll be... Zua." He smiled, licking Shira gently on the face. "Are you alright?"

Inside her mothers womb, Zua had begun to panic as she felt two of the presances that had been beside her before dissapear, she squirmed, wishing for them back. Then, there was a pressure surrounding her from all sides, feeling as if it was going to crush her. She would have given anything to make it stop, and suddenly, it did, only to be replaced with a stinging cold and a bump on the head.

The little pup squealed loudly and snuggled against the warmest thing she could find, her mother. She inhaled deeply, taking in the scent and unknowingly, placing it in a special area of her mind, to be remembered always. A second later, she squirmed again and felt a couple of other things near her, and she was sure that they were the ones taken from her before she had been thrust from her peacefull place in her mothers womb. But that time was over, and she was hungry.

The newborn pup whined pathetically, sniffing around her mothers belly for what she knew was there, somewhere, there was food for her. Somewhere...

Shira panted and her eyes closed half-way as she leaned against her. It was over, no more jolts, no more pain, and god damn it no more carrying these things around in her. With a great sigh, she slumped back down against Yakuti. It was over, it was finally over. Her eyes turned over and faced Yakuti.

"No I am not fine. Let me have you carry these damn things inside of you having your energy drained from you. Unable to walk far or even get a good night's rest. Let me tell you, it was possibly the worst part of my life!"

She growled, biting at his ear, but it was playful and yet hinted of the power behind it. She turned back down to them and moved them all closer to her lower body, letting them finding their food. Oddly, Ophos and Actaeon were larger than the other two, a lot bigger and Ophos a tad bit than Act. Yakuti really did produce quite the pups.... Hyenas could take care of themselves and they were scavengers. Her head turned back to Yakuti and she licked him, pinning her ears back (wow, that's rare).

"Yaku... this is our family.... I am your female, and you are mine. You best make Jamaa proud and be a good father to them or so help me that I do not carsirate you."

With a murr, she smiled.

"I love you..."

Ophos, as his name was to be dubbed, mewled loudly as he tried to push his siblings around quite roughly. Hmm.... where did this power come from? That was strange... he mewed again as he moved about with a very undeveloped bark that came out as nothing. He struggled more and more until he felt something pick him up.

"This one.... will be a problem....."

Yakuti smirked in a friendly way, eyeing Ophos. "He is a bit rough... He'll be a good fighter some day." He said witha smile, making sure to add his positive twist on the situation. He always did that, like it or not, making even the worst situations seem a little less dark.

"I love you too, Shira." He nuzzled her gently, "And I'm sorry for what I put you through. I regret it with my entire being, and wish more than anything that I could take it back." He sighed, flicking his tail.

Yakuti glanced at the little girl who represented both parents so well, and laughed when he saw what she was doing, wandering off in entirely the wrong direction.

"Come back here, Zua." He said gently, snagging her with a paw and scooping her back to her litter mates.

Zua knew there was food, and fairly quickly, found it. After a small taste, she had decided that she could wait a little longer before eating, and bumbled off away from her parents. She didn't get far though, because a large white thing appeared before her and pushed her tiny body back to her starting point. She looked up, seeing a big blue thing that had done it. She sniffed his paw for a second, decided he wasn't going to hurt him, and gave up on her exploration to get some of that food.

Zua would grow up to be incredibly indecisive.

Shira sighed and looked up at him. He was stronger, muscled, and well defined. This was her fault. She knew that he could be the best fighter the pack has to offer and what scared her most was that such power could be controlled by her. She knew he'd listen to Mafa, he was a dedicated member to the pack. But what if Mafa tried to seperate them..... no that cannot happen, she had to make sure that Yakuti took Shira as his first priority when it came to such a descision....

"Stop saying that, it is far too late now to make up for it. As much as it hurt, I still enjoyed it a bit and the results are already here. Make it up to me another time when I am not drained of my life."

With a sigh she pushed her paws against his. She was about to snape saying "Don't touch them!" or something, but she had given up. For once, she meant what she said and licked him again. She had a strong, powerful mate, one to be proud of. At least, that is how she felt.

"Yakuti, I dunno how to tell you this but I want you to stay with me for a while longer before you head on out to your patrol. I know how much the pack means to you, but just for a while. At least for them to gather our scents...."

Ophos gave an undeveloped growl when he felt his mother paw touch his head. He instantly silenced and placed his head down. He felt threatened by the touch and did not dare pushhis luck. Whatever it was, it was big.

"maybe..... I won't kill them..... "

(( Good lord, I'm so sorry for being slow. D: ))

What was going on?

Auri, still inside her mother at the time, was glaringly aware that something was wrong. No, things were leaving. The warm masses that had been around her for her whole life up until now were suddenly forced out, leaving only one left. The unborn pup wriggled and gave a kick, confused and now worried as the last presence was suddenly gone, leaving her on her own. She knew one thing, if anything, and that was that it was not normal. And she did NOT want be left alone.

Luckily, she wasn't let down; a minute or so later, the space suddenly contracted in, forcing her down until suddenly she broke through her old 'world', popping onto the ground with a squeal as she entered the hard, cold ground of her new world. A long, disgruntled sort of whine broke out from between her tiny jaws as she tried to roll over onto her feet. She wasn't the slightest bit graceful, and fell in a heap against the closest thing--This happened to be her mother--, snuggling close and whimpering unhappily.

What was this place? It was so unlike the last she had been in. It was colder, much colder...and hard. She was also aware of a lot of loud noises, some of which belonged to her siblings who she didn't know yet. Then, the voices of her parents, which somehow she found comfort in and relaxed a bit, leaning against the soft 'thing' and trying vainly to get accustomed to her surrounding. She did not like being left in the dark, not knowing what was happening.

"Of course, Shira." He said gently. He had honestly nearly forgotten the patrol in the excitement of it all.

At her next comment, Yakuti remained silent. He had hoped all along that she wouldn't kill the pups, and now he was fairly sure that she wouldn't. The pups were their own flesh and blood... Killing them would scar them all for ever, some more terribly than others.

Zua snuggled back up against her mother and tried to get warm, this new world was extremely cold. She shivered slightly, trying to curl herself into a tight ball. She was tired, too tired to bother with anything but sleep, so that's exactly what the young pup did, she lay her head on the nearest sibling and fell asleep.
