I'll assume hoax for the time being. Afterall, the game is being played while the mini-disc is hanging loose.
Though looks to me like whomever made it was theorising on what a hand held Gamecube would be like.

Houdinia They already have the DS out, Do they really need to make another handheld so soon? The perspective, textures and general composite look of the pic say to me that the image itself isn't of an actual object. The question for me is whether it's a hoax or a concept pic for an upcoming design.

Actually, I've heard of people in the US who reassemble consoles, cut out a lot of empty space, and add a pocket television to make handheld PS2s and the like. Also seen some screenshots... and that does look like it might be one of them.

It looks a little too big to be a handheld, dontcha think? After all, handhelds these days don't have such good graphics like Gamecube graphics. The best graphics they might have are graphics from 64-bit console games, like Super Mario 64, which became the handheld game, Super Mario DS, only with the same graphics.
But it still doesn't look like a hoax. It must be one of those systems where you need an electrical outlet for it, but it has a built in screen. It just doesn't run on batteries, like Game Boys do.
Honestly, Nintendo is coming out with WAY too many consoles these days. rolleyes

You can eject the disk out of the console, but the screen of the game you were playing is still there. It's just that the screen is paused. Yes, this does ruin the disk and console, but maybe a person did this just once so that they could demonstrate that this console uses CD-ROM disks.

That picture is totally fake. Someone took a portable Gamecube screen, Doctored a Gamecube controller and stuck it on the bottom of an SP.

I agree, it looks obviously doctored. If you look at the buttons, they appear way too flat to be real. Especially the joysticks.
That could just be because it's a folding system, but frankly those joysticks look really crappy. So if this DOES turn out to be real, I hope they fix that.

Jesse.L i'm sure this is a hoax for one reason. nintendo has never repeated a controler design Other than for the upgraded versions of the GB and GBA. But speaking as someone who grew up on Sega console-wise, I'd never noticed that before. smile
