But then I realized how few horror books I read and thought, Naaaaah...
So anyway! I was thinking today about different books that have been turned into movies. You got a favorite? Which did you like better, the book version or the movie version? (And no, those made-for-TV series don't count.)

*Thinks for about 2 second* LotR...and I much prefer the books. Though the movies were great and told the story well, there was so much that had to be left out for reasons of time. Which is reasonable, when you figure that Wagner based his greatest work, "The Ring of the Neiblung" on the same myth that Tolken based his work on, and Wagner's Ring cycle is four operas that takes 18 hours to complete...*Thinks* LotR as a movie set is what, 9?

Well, one of my favorite books, Blood and Chocolate, was just turned into a movie. Though I can tell already that the book's far better than the movie. The movie's plot is so far removed from the book's that they shouldn't have even bothered to give it the same title. Bleh.

I haven't seen the Eragon movie, but from what my friends tell me, it's a waist of time. I could tell, just from the previews, that it was going to be way off the book. The previews showed the evil king dude forming his army, and in the book series, book 3 has yet to come out and we haven't even MET the evil king (he's be mentioned in the books, but we haven't actually seen him). My friend told me that poor Saphira was given a very small role, and more of a side char, when in the book she's the main player, even more then Eragon. But I guess I can't say much more since I haven't seen the movie, I just don't want to be disapointed.

Aw buu... I wanted to see Eragon, too.
And... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annette_Curtis_Klause covers the books she's written. I believe one was only released in french.
MY fav book-to-movie? How come no one has mentioned The Last Unicorn? Or The Princess Bride? Both of those were very good novels before they were movies. (Though, there was significant material cut from them both... what was left in adheres closely to the originals.)
