You're not weird at all. You heard some information that has a teeny tiny bit of truth to it. The actual name is the hymen. It's not a disk of blood, it is more like a little flap of skin. It is sometimes called the cherry, but that's slang. Many people think the hymen breaks when a girl first has sex, but that isn't usually the case. The hymen is very thin and delicate. It usually breaks long before a woman has sex. Fingers and tampons can break it. It is so delicate that running and jumping can even break it. So most girls have torn their hymen by the time they reach puberty. There is usually very little or no pain and blood involved, so most girls have no idea when they tore their hymen.
