Beloved Werewolf

It had almost startled Auron to wake up inside the cave he and Ashera had taken host in. Almost. He'd quickly recovered from the abnormal darkness he lay in, shifting his weight a bit, his back pressing against another body. Oh yeah!

He quickly pulled away to look over his shoulder at the few markings of white amongst all of the darkness of the cave. The pridelander actually had to squint his good eye a bit to see her for more than a few white markings. "Sorry about that." he apologized gruffly, before rising up to his feet.

Auron peered out into the sunlight which signalled a morning, sighing a bit, before looking back to Asherah and stating, though it was obvious, "It's morning. We'll start again when you're ready to go." he stated. Everything with him seemed to be an AGENDA at times.

But he was at least unbearing enough to give the girl time to relax for a bit more, if she were to wish to do so.

It was a sleepy, half-purring, questioning hum that came from Asherah in reply. She had barely started to wake up, enjoying the warm darkness and the feeling of her own fur against her own fur. Ash uncoiled a little, when she realised her own fur was also touching someone elses.

Ah yes. Auron was here too.

Auron watched her for a moment, smirking a bit to himself. Some had such a way of sleeping forever, so he'd allow her to do so for as long as she wished.

While Ash adjusted to the face that Auron HAD been there for a moment, the dark-maned lion headed outside, climbing atop one of the rocky-structures like Asherah had the day before to survey the area. It seemed like such a large space, it was hard to believe that they'd covered MUCH more ground by walking the day before.

So strange.

He tilted his head to look back where his companion was, then smirked again. Without waiting on her, he would have been gone without much of a second thought to continue on his way.

She got to her paws and stretched. With Auron out of the den, she allowed herself to let the top of her head rest against the painted wall for a second. A sign of affection that wouldn't be noted from a distance, beyond the curtain like vines.

Mothers. Siblings. Family. I hope you're alright, wherever you are.

That done, she hardened her heart. It was a sombre looking lionness who went to join her companion, out by the rocks. Steady and sure.

"Shall we get going, Auron?"

He wouldn't suspect, or pry even, the forced look of unfeeling on his companion's face. All Auron knew was that she was ready to go, both the way she walked and the fact that she spoke of heading out again told him this.

Leaping down from his 'perch', to say, the warrior nodded. "If you wish to start going, then we shall." he replied in a sort of monotone, before he yawned, the exhaustion that came with waking coming in a happy assault at him.

His dark eyes turned to look towards the direction they'd been walking the night before (this found due to his looking out over where they'd already been... ) and nodded a bit. "So I presume we'll just keep walking the way we have been?"

"I'm ready to go when you are, Auron." Yawns are contagious, as Ewan had always said when they were cubs, and the dark lionness mimiced Auron out of habit.

"As to following a straight route, not quite. A few places I stumbled through as a youngster, with hindsight...I'd much rather avoid. And there's the leopard territories to skirt." Confidence is key, Asherah told herself. No more getting mushy over old dens and old hopes.

"I don't get up unless I'm ready." Auron stated bluntly, looking off in another direction while Asherah yawned. He'd gotten all the yawning he felt up to out of his system, so he wasn't about to let the 'contagious' continue.

He looked back to the female as she spoke, his expression partially laced with sleep, even still after stating that he didn't wake up unprepared to do anything. "I never expected to walk in a straight line." Auron said. "But you answered by question either way." he shrugged.

Auron took a few steps, then looked back to Ash. "So we're going.....?" he repeated.

"Ok, ok." Asherah sighed and started to lead the way. He could have wanted to hunt for breakfast - though most lions would have gorged themselves on their last kill, travellers who didn't plan to stop generally didn't, after all, since it'd be bad to walk when full and dozy with it.

He wasn't about to stop for a hunt. At least, not this early in the morning. While, yes, he hadn't gorged himself on the kill from the previous day, Auron -was- quite aware that this early in the morning, there wouldn't be much liveliness to the savannah until mid-day.

That much, he was aware of.

Auron had been able to note that his companion hadn't reacted that well to his 'morning attitude', and frowned a bit. Had he offended her? It was a thought he pondered over as he walked alongside of her, though he still kept the spacing he had the day previously.

Asherah was taking heavier steps, letting her paws disturb the small rocks and dust, as if her very pawfalls were punches against an offending earth. It felt good to take her angry out on something. It barely showed, since she still was moving quickly, but it lacked any carefree grace.

Besides, the only creature around this earlier was Auron, and she didn't care to lash out at her friends. Better to tred down the ground hard.

"We'll go over this rocks until midday I suppose, then it'll be the cool of the endless jungle."

It was a slight change in movement that even he had noticed, but made no mention of. He followed alongside of her, listening to her words, then nodding.

"I can handle that." he said, looking about around the pair, almost as if hoping to find something out there that was a little less....

oh.. desert-y dead?

While he didn't care if it was or not, Auron was rather sure that it would have been a good idea if he'd kept an eye out for water for the travelling pair.

(( Sorry for the lameness... ))

"Oh and mind out for any scorpians, Auron. I seem to remember there being small brown gold ones around here somewhere." She skirted around another of the rocks, raising her head to peer around the next rock in their path. This whole area was nelt but rocks rocks rocks. A maze of dust and sandstone and viney plants.

It was annoying to navigate but the jungle would be worth it.

Scorpions? He'd yet to have run into one of those for a while. His last encounter had been less-then-thrilling, however, due to having been stung when he was only just starting out, and having lost all feeling he'd ever had in his leg for a while after. "I'll make sure to do that."

Auron followed her lead as they wandered around the rocks, almost wanting to just climb on top of one of them to see how much of these things they had left to avoid. However, they provided at least -some- shade where he was, so he decided against it.

Dust was stirred up a bit as they walked, and the old lion breathed some in, suddenly sneezing as a result of it.

Asherah paused, one paw raised to take the next step, and turned to look at him as he sneezed. The dust around here was awful...she'd better lighten her steps. The white toed paws were picked up properly, her usual casual gait restored. As moody as she was she didn't want to cause her companion discomfort.

After a while of travelling as they were she once again scaled a boulder without warning. Like Auron, she wanted to see how many were left to go, but also she wanted to make sure she was leading him the right way.

Ash didn't want to look a fool and take them the wrong way.

He shook his head a bit to recover from the sneeze, then looked to her, nodding. "It's fine.." he stated. In fact, he didn't sneeze at all for the next while, but that might have been due to Asherah lightening her step.

Auron stopped, though there was no surprise to his posture or expression when Asherah took her scaling leap up to the top of the rock to look off over their path. So, in respect, he sat down where he was to wait for her to finish with what she was doing, watching as a trail of some sort of insect made it's way across the cracks in the ground in front of him. Secretly, he pondered what type of insect they were, but said nothing, only looking up at Asherah again to see what she was doing.

Not that he blamed her for going up to scope things up.
