So, me and my friend are practicing single stroke splits on bass drum, when all of a sudden, the stick breaks in my hand... and I'm about to get in trouble by my band director... has something like this happened to you before?
This is the 3rd time btw, first was a vibe mallet, which i didn't get in trouble for, 2nd was a bass mallet, which i didn't get in trouble for... so... yeah.

You broke a vibe mallet? wow... One of our snares breaks his sticks all the time. The drumline and mallets switched places, and I was sitting by the vibes (which is where the snares used to be) and I see splinters all over the floor.

During our cadence on the field for the football team, our fourth bass drummer was playing and the stick broke in half and shot off the other way. He wasn't even playing that hard... :] It was funny.

And to [Erika]
yeah, thats the same thing that happen to me. I was slightly playing on the drum, praticing single stroke splits, and the stick just breaks in my hand... and I only used my right hand, for the first down beat and to finish the measure. btw, I broke my right hand stick.
And it was a new mallet, like the indoor season started like a month ago. It took me, like the end of my outdoor season to break my first bassdrum mallet.

Luckily, I don't hit the bells that hard. My friend has broken a plastic mallet before.

Ouch. Ouir drumline is terrible, considering I and my wonderful Guard march right behind them and they get whacked the most. It's not really their fault that their equimpent is broken, it's us, becuase whe hit EVERYthing in range: drums, people the band director... Becuase of our wannabe poser-tosser Freshman Snots.

Our forth Bass drummer broke one of his SHOW stix durring a game when he did a rim click.
It flew all most all the way to the field and our director(and the rest of the line) was pissed cause he was too lazy to go use the stix he was supposed to.

Once, in the middle of a competition, I broke a stick. I made a gonk face but otherwise continued drumming with my one remaining stick. The pit section leader, sensing my distress, flung a marimba mallet at my face. And I caught it and continued drumming. As much as that sounds made up, it's true. I'm just that cool.

I at a competition and the tenor for this one band tripped and fell right before the tenor solo(there was one other tenor player though) When he got back up he relized he had flung his stick almost to the stands.
[When I saw that, the snare drummer (Ryan) said "See, you didn't mess up so bad!" I had made a big mistake during our preformance and I was, ahem, not very happy with myself.]

See, now I always thought that was natural. My BD said that the drummers go through a new pair of drum sticks every two weeks, so I assume that means you're playing well? I don't know. That's what I was told...
