ooc// I'd like to be Kiba, if that's okay. ^_^ I don't care if he's uke or seme. Also, the setting will be the month inbetween the preliminaries and the final exams. Post if you're interested.//

A roar of agony rang through the damp afternoon air. Konoha citizens looked around in surprise, as if looking for the source of the noise.
The outburst had come from Kiba. He wasn't hurt. No, he was far from it. The yell had been spawned from pure boredom. Akamaru gripped onto his head and growled, as if telling him not to have another random explosion. Kiba just growled back. "Not my fault that I can't keep it contained..."
Everything was just so boring, boring, boring. A week after the preliminaries, Kiba just couldn't take it anymore. There were still three weeks until the finals. THREE WHOLE WEEKS. And even then, he and Akamaru weren't participating, only watching.
"Shoot me now, Akamaru," the boy grumbled. "Just shoot me now." Akamaru just whined, seemingly just as bored.

[[Nor am I, that's why I asked you to.]] Shikamaru sighed at the sound. "How troublesome. I just want to watch the clouds in peace." He muttered to himself, standing up to find a quieter area.
He barely got a break, even if it was only a week into the month of training, he wanted it all to be over with. He didn't want to be in this match, he didn't even want to participate in the exams. Nothing exciting would come out of it on his part.
Walking around the busy streets of Konoha, hands in pockets, he pondered quietly to himself. It was probably Kiba. Geez, always being so loud and troublesome. Hopefully I'll never have to go on a mission with him. He's as bad as Naruto.

After moaning and complaining for a few more minutes, Kiba was struck with an idea. "I KNOW!" he declared, stopping in his tracks. "Akamaru, I'll race you to the other side of town!" With a yip of approval, Akamaru leapt off his master's head and took his starting stance. "Ready... set... GO!"
The two tore off at top speed, weaving inbetween the angry people in the streets. Kiba felt the rush of the brisk, slightly humid air rush past his face as he bolted through town. This would only give them a few minutes of entertainment at the most, but hey, it was better than nothing. As he rounded the corner, he forgot to check what was in front of him, and he crashed into someone. Letting out a loud "oof!" he fell and tumbled over the unidentified person.
Groaning and opening his eyes, he looked to the side and saw that it was Shikamaru. It was uncanny how fitting it was to run into such a boring individual on such a boring day. Chuckling nervously, he stood up and held out his hand. "Sorry."

Shikamaru rubbed his head, letting out a sigh of frustration. "Do you always have to be so energetic?" He asked, standing up. Perfect, now I've ran into the source of everyone's, and my own, displeasure. He thought, letting out another sigh. "It's fine. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some clouds to watch."

Kiba began to put his hands on his hips, but concluded that was MUCH too girly, and crossed his arms instead. "Why, yes, I do," he retorted in a gruff voice. "Not everyone has to be as boring as you do."
Looking around, he was disappointed to find the Akamaru was nowhere in sight. So much for the race. Tch. It was Akamaru's fault for being unobservant. Sighing, he turned back to face Shikamaru. "If THAT'S how it's gonna be, then I'm gonna go with you," he declared with a smirk. He proceeded to wonder how many ways he could annoy a lounging Shikamaru.

Shikamaru glared at him. "I don't enjoy spending time with people that can't enjoy the beauty of clouds or are too...obnoxious." He stated flatly, starting to walk.
"Besides, you wouldn't enjoy the boring things I do, Kiba." Shikamaru mumbled, keeping his pace nice and slow, slipping his hands back into his pockets.

"Pfft. I am NOT obnoxious."
Kiba ignored Shikamaru's second statement and followed him through the streets. After a few moments of talking, he threw his head back and groaned. "You are walking so slowly!" he complained, placing his hands on the other boy's back and pushing him.

Shikamaru sighed. "Why can't you ever take the time to enjoy things? I'd rahter walk at my normal pace." He moved away so that Kiba could no longer push him, continuing down the streets. "Besides, the place isn't that far away."

Kiba grunted, continuing to walk beside the boy. Why take time to enjoy such boring things? Looking around, he came to the realization that Akamaru had still not come back.
"Well," he started, hands on his hips - no, wait, arms crossed, "instead of whatever you were planning to do, you're going to help me find Akamaru, since it's your fault he ran ahead."

"Have you tried whistling or saying his name?" Shikamaru asked, looking at Kiba with barely any interest at all. "He should have realized by now you're trailing behind..."
Shikamaru continued walking, figuring Kiba would just leave this time, especially since it was oh so obvious the Nara wouldn't really have the energy to help him.

Kiba stood there for a second, slightly taken aback by the logic of the suggestion. Hnn. It WOULD make more sense to just call for Akamaru, but again, that would be the boring way out. Pestering Shikamaru was a lot more interesting. "I'm sorry, what did you say?" he spat sarcastically. "Hmph. Still your fault." The boy walked to catch up (not much of an effort, seeing as Shikamaru had not gone too far since Kiba had paused), and concluded that he would not give up, for sheer entertainment. "So YOU still have to help me."
