The Plot:
The descendants of the four powerful New England families have remained hidden for years. The sons of the Ipswich are legendary in Spenser Academy, a local boarding school. Handsome and popular, these four teenage friends can trace their roots to the founding families of the Ipswich Colony, settled in the late 1600s. For years these Massachusetts families have harbored the secret that they possess supernatural powers. Their descendants - Caleb, Reid, Taylor, and Pogue - have inherited magical
powers that first manifested themselves when the boys turned 13 years
old.In a nutshell, they can do anything. As they approach their 18th birthdays, they are preparing to "ascend," which means their powers will grow stronger. However, the magic is seductive and addictive, and causes premature aging with each use.
Setting:
Summer, Spenser Academy, A Club, the Barn where the descendants first discovered their powers, The Underground Hall (the place where everything about the Ipswich is kept and where the Death Book is kept), Caleb's mansion, Dark Forest (where they like to party), old worn out house (where Caleb's Father, who looked as wrinkled as an 80-year-old, though in reality he is only 40, lived, and anywhere else you want to go.
