Siyo slunk through the kusini grasses slowly and carefully, one might even say he was going about it in a scavanger-way; he seemed nervous and guilty of something, though nothing seemed wrong in his appearance and nothing big had been going on in the Kusini lands that he could have stuck a paw in.

To be quite honest, Siyo was avoiding his mother. His mother did not like him very much, and he suspected it had to do with the red of his coat. Where could he get an idea like that? She'd told him once that the only good thing about him might be his face lines. They were the same color as she.

His bright green eyes suddenly narrowed as he watched a cricket hop past, passing his path. Before it got too far her altered his walk and suddenly slammed his paw down on it. He paused to look at the guts, eyes flicking back and forward in a rabid succession before dropping his paw again. He sighed and looked slowly around, realizing he was near the watering holes. What should he do now?

Mbali had been on a mission to become a better father, Bari had never wanted cubs and though she had been nicer to him the cubs were something different.

He had found Azzy and had a lovely chat with her, he was glad to see that their neglect hadn't warn off on her and that she was a lovely happy child so now it was time to make up with Siyo. Mbali wanted to be the father that he had when he was younger, a loving caring one and because of that he wanted to take his children to the pridelands, show them his own history.

It took a while of wandering about to find his son but then it isn't easy to hide a red pelt and even with the other red cubs running around, none had Siyo's brown nose stripes.

"Siyo?" He tilted his head a little letting his brown mane flop. It seemed Siyo wasn't in such good a way after all.

Siyo's head seemed to jerk toward Mbali and his body seemed to sink even closer to the ground, as if someone had just caught him doing something bad. He had a worried frown on his face and his eyes floated over his father. He tried to make a smile at him but only the cornered of his mouth twitched before he slunk towards the parent he looked nothing like. "Yes dad?" He said softly, almost dreadingly. He had to remember that his father was very kind and not like his mom at all! Well how could he, Mbali wasn't around as much as Siyo would have liked and that made him feel a little bitter too.

Siyo's eyes had gone back to their normal... wideness. They were slightly glazed over as he stared somewhere between Mbali's chin and upper arms. "Haven't seen you in a while." His voice was still soft, but there was some edge of hurt in it because he wanted someone to keep him safe. His mother never beat him up or anything, and she wasn't all that horrible. But it hurt having someone hate you, didn't it? Usually she'd just shove him into his... well her aunt's brood of cubs. Bari's Aunt's mate was red just like him!

Mbali let out a sigh and walked over before laying down near Siyo. "Im sorry." He didn't know what else to say, his son was obviously alot worse then Azzy.

"I wanted to come and spend time with you, father son time. I saw Azzy the other day and asked her if she wanted to go on a trip with me, I would like you to come as well." He was going to ask Bari if she wanted to come but as it was there seemed little point in doing so, she hated the Pridelands.

He looked down into his sons green eyes, they looked so scared and hurt and Mbali realised that through his grieving he had hurt his own family. "Do you want to know why I haven't been around so much son?" He might as well explain himself it was the least he could do.

Siyo seemed on the verge of snuggling into his father's soft, plush fur but instead he shifted just a bit away from him. He sat and stared at his paws. "No, why?" His tail flicked back and forth. The reason his father hadn't been around? He'd love to know that one.

He was thinking more about the pridelands though. He was never told what they looked like or anything, he just knew that was where his parents had come from. Anywhere was better than here though, right? "Yeah, I'd like to go with you to that place." He said, trying to feel calm.

Mbali looked slightly saddened as Siyo moved away but it was understandable.

"My mother, unlike yours was wonderful. She was golden with the blue eyes that I have and your sister has. She was lovely she looked after us all so well, watched us and loved us no matter what we did or where we went. A while before you were born a lioness came to see me, asking of my mother and saying she was an old friend. My mother had lots of friends she was so nice to nearly everyone and so I told her. The lioness though I later found out was my aunt, I never knew about her and nor did mother. My aunt killed my mother infront of eight new born cubs." He paused. He still hadn't met them but maybe he would as he was taking his own cubs to the pridelands.

"I blame myself for my mothers death and I couldn't bare to be around anyone which is why I haven't been good to you or your sister, I didn't want either of you to see the state I have been in. I hoped your mother would look after you both but I see that was too much to hope for." He sighed as he finished and laid his head on his paws. He wanted his own mother back. He missed her.

He blinked, trying to understand and take it all in. So a grandmother he never knew was dead... and that is why his father has been avoiding his family? Unacceptable! But Siyo should try to keep safe, shouldn't he? He should try and seize this oppertunety. "Is Azzy alright?" He said slowly, not knowing what to really ask about, how he could move things forward. Azzy seemed like a good thing to bring up, she was his sister after all. And he didn't know what to say to his father about his grandmother, or the newborns.

"...When are we leaving to the pridelands?" He asked after another minute, finally looking up to meet his father's eyes. Where had he gotten his green eyes from? He wished he looked more like Azzy and his father, maybe then Bhari would love him.

Mbali was grateful for the lack of questions about his mother.

"Azzy is happy, cheerful and playful as anything!" He smiled thinking of his daughter for a while, she would be a beautiful adult.

"We will leave in a day or two as I will need to find your sister and let your mother know we are leaving." He smiled down at his son wishing he could do something to make him feel better.

"Siyo, what do you like most in the whole world?" He might as well try and make some sort of start.

Siyo smiled sadly, looking at his paws. He was almost jealous of his sister, because she was left alone about how she looked and stuff. But he was also very happy for her.

His right ear perked up a little. What did he like most in the world? He looked up at his father, trying to think about it. "I like looking at spider webs in the morning." He said slowly, not really sure what he liked most in the world. "And butterflies who fly in groups... I like being in water.."

Mbali thought about it for a minute and then smiled.

"Lets go swimming and we can try to catch some fish as well!" Mbali was rubbish at fishing so maybe it would be something that they could possibly find fun and Siyo might even be better which would be hilarious!

Siyo was quite pleased that his father wanted to play games with him, though he was still feeling quite unhappy inside. He placed a deligate smile on his face though and rose to his paws, looking around for the watering hole. "I don't know how to fish, dad." He said quite honestly. "But it still sounds fun.. alright, let's go."

Mbali chuckled, "Well you are not the only one!" He nudged his son playfully and turned to go towards the water hole. "Want to race there?" He might as well do as many activities as possible.

Siyo almost fell over, but managed to hold his own. He smiled at his father, though it was a bit forced. "Uhhm.." He did not like running, running made him nervous. Mostly because he always felt as if he was running from something, or someone. "Yeah, sure." He said slowly, trying to sound chipper about it.

Obviously he thought his father really enjoyed racing or something!

He looked down and smiled, "We don't have to race if you don't want to! I don't mind I'm not really good at that. In fact I'm not really good at many things." He laughed a little and stretched a bit before turning in the direction of the water.

"Come on then. Lets go and attempt to fish and watch us both look rather stupid!" He smiled knowing that he would look stupid no matter what he did so if it helped his son as well then that would be a good thing.

His ears flattened on his skull and he looked away from his father so the adult would not catch the disappointed look. It wasn't because he was bad at running! Siyo just didn't like that, how rude for his father to assume such things! And to say that they would look stupid going fishing! It was a rather big turn off to spending time with his father. But he was trying, and Siyo had to keep that in mind.

He looked back and gave the best smile he could. "Mm." He said, heading toward the watering hole. "Do fish feel different than rabbits?" He knew they did, but he'd never eaten or tried to touch a fish before and he was trying to make conversation with his father.
