I figured we could have a thread talking about what styles, etc., that you like or dislike in a corset.
Overbust or underbust? Custom made for more money, or bought from a discount rack? What kind of fabric do you like? Modesty panels? Styles? Anything?
Describe your "dream corset"; what goes into it?

I like underbusts :B they're more comfy and they don't squish boobies xD
I usually make my corsets. I only have one store bought one, and it's from Frederick's of Hollywood (Similar to Victoria's Secret for all you non-Americans)
I use anything from upholstery fabric to just plain Poplin. The poplin is more comfortable though, after you wash it. And I prefer steel bones.
My dream corset would have to be the one i'm making right now. It's a 1912 period corset, and I'm going to be very proud of it ;D
It's going to be gorgeous, although no one is really going to see it unless I decide to run around in my undies during theatre festival this year xD
Cheers, Kate.

I like overbust corsets the best. Steel boning is a plus. I'm also a fan of brocade. It's a beatuiful and rich fabric. I look for modisty panels, though it is not a must, it's just something I'd rather have.
I'll, one day, have my dream corset. I just don't know when. I currently do not have the money for one... crying

Always steel boned, I will wear over bust underbust or waist cinchers/ waspies happily. Most fabrics do quite well as long as the lining is coutil with a well made waist tape. i don't really care whther they are custom made or off the rack, as long as the shape and fit are right. I find that soft leather corsets are really the most durable, comfortable and supportive, but they are out of some peoples budget, since quality ones tend to be hundreds of dollars. Quality plush velvet makes a great covering too! One thing i find helpful is to always get flat soft cotton laces, they are very strong and wont hurt your hands when tightlacing like synthetic laces will.

I'm partial to underbust corsets. I have an underbust Victorian corset, and I couldn't be happier with it. Once I'm working more in the summer, I'm hoping to get another underbust--though what, I haven't decided yet (I love too much!)
If I had more of a bosom, I'm be much more inclined towards overbust corsets. I love sweethearts, too.
The best kind of corset, in my opinion, are the ones that actually shape you somewhat. Corsets without proper boning aren't really very much like corsets to me, save the lacing (but hey, shoes lace up, too, so that isn't really saying much).
Modesty panels are okay, but I don't care much for them...

I like straight-fronted and s-shaped corsets most. Overbust Victorians tend to not fit me so well around the bust. I don't mind modesty panels, but as I wear both my corsets over something (to prevent boob spillage), they don't matter so much.

i like underbust better but overbust is nice too ^.^ i like some of hottopics but they dont really have boning so that kinda bothers me cause if they did they would be very lovely my favorite corset fabric i would have to say is satin or leather although i do not owna leather one yet i would like to buy a cincher thats made of leather i ordered one off lipservice www.theoriginalcult.com and they are decent i like their corsets they have nice pants and skirts too very unique but a little pricey when they do clearence after awhile everything is just like 60 percent off so their sales are great lately ive also noticed although ebay doesnt have everything we look for i've gotten 3 or four nice corsets off there and evena ew in thrift stores the lingere ones or however that word is spelled some dont look bad over your shirts i wear them that way and find them pretty nice looking if you havent tried it i would try it ^.^ also if you havea hard time with your hips and waist cause your hips are bigger or even your chest is a bit to big for most look for "edwardian" im not sure if thats how its spelled but it laces two or three times depending on the maker and goes with your body custom ones are nice ive never boughta custom one due to they are VERY expensive lmao >.< but ive seen many and my dear friend Tricia has gotten two of them and LOVES them she says although she cant breathe in them they fit PERFECTLY and the boning is put in right and the stiches arent loose so really it is a good amount of money because they do their jobs well i've gotten corsets where the boning pops through the fabric and thats just no good but shes never had that case witha custom soo im guessing they must be great

I like underbust more, makes the girls look great wink . confused though I have more overbust than underbust..odd. To me as long as it fits (which is hard to find for me.) then I don't mind where it comes from. I have a total fetish for pvc/vinyl corsets. I don't have a favorite style because I love them all but I have to say, if it has buckles on it, I love it that much more (hugs buckled pvc corsets) mmmmm.

hmm... well.... i'm not too picky about fabric, but i it's nice feeling to the touch then that's good enough for me. 3nodding i love them to lace up in the back with ribbon, or some kind of thicker lace. as for shape? i'm not too big on a corset coming to a point at the bottom in front, but they still look nice, though i prefer ones with a rounded bottom, front and back. color isn't a big issue... either black, deep red, or dark green would be nice 4laugh but i am planning on having my friend design my wedding dress for me with a corset style body.
oh and i like a bit of detail in the front... be it a collar (coller type thing sweatdrop ) on the top (yes, i prefer overbust corsets ^^), or a ribbon along the top... just something that adds a simple but elegant detail to it on the front. smile
sadly, i can't reveal to you all what my wedding dress design looks like yet wink it's a secret until the day ^^ (just incase my fiancee somehow manages to see it on here xd plus i'm a bit supersticious with that stuff, so i'm not unveiling it until then ^^)
