The sunlight hit her eyes without mercy, and forced Chachili to flutter them open. It was early morning, and the day before had been eventful. Mkimya had found out about having two brothers, and now suspected everything Chachili had tried to hide from her for so long. And now... everything was mixed up. It was all unravelling itself. She'd silenced her daughter from telling Pura, for now, but who knew when Mkimya would talk? And now, Mkimya knew information she shouldn't know. She'd met Kukuru... and contact with the boy was dangerous.

Because whatever was after Kukuru and Makuu could well use Mkimya for information. Chachili shuddered, and pushed the thought from her head. Instead, she crept out of the den, and resolved to go down to the water's edge to have a dip. Exhausted, she rubbed the cool, refreshing water into her skin... and at once felt energy flow back into her body.

Still, energy wasn't what she needed. She needed to unwind the clocks, turn back into the past. Travel through time, and change everything. She should never have given birth in the first place.

Silently, she cursed herself for thinking such an evil thought. She loved all her children. But... how could she live like this? Was there no joy left for her in the world? Even her mate had left her. That b*****d, Jani. Twice he'd sired twins, and fled to leave Chachili a single mother. Twice.

She bowed her head. When would it all stop?

A white klipspsringer looked down at his sleeping sister. His sisters back body stood out against his, but he didn't care. He did careful not to wake up his lightly younger sibling as he stepped over her.

The blue-eyes preybeast sighed. Sure, his sister was more of a fighter then he, but she was also reckless and... insesitive to almost everyone. Just almost.

Blanc had been up for at least an hour. He loved the sun, so it didn't bother him so much. It reflected off his fur, making it easier for him to travel under the sun's persistant rays.

The white beast wandered towards teh nearest water source, which happened to be the place Chachili was at.

Krrrsssh

Chachili's ear flicked as she heard the soft sound of grass crushing underfoot. Someone was coming her way. Shaking her head, she sighed, and managed to pull herself together. She didn't like looking like she was about to cry - she saw that as a weakness.

She wanted to be strong.

Determined, she looked up, and spotted a white figure slinking through the grass, coming her way.

"You don't see many adults around these parts anymore," she remarked sourly as he approached. Nor were there usually males. She hadn't the time for males.

They made her think about her abandoned boys, and their horrible father.

The snow colored klips tilted his head lightly. The female seemed to have a relation with the two klipspringers he had met not too long ago. He was getting better at his power, but didn't know the full extent of it.

"Hello there," he said to the grey female. His voice was calm and cheerful. He smiled lightly at her before looking up to the sky.

The single mother tensed as the white male approached. Maybe he was just being friendly? She sighed, and decided to supress her emotions. Now was not the time to bring out everything on a stranger. He didn't look too bad, either.

"Good morning," she said, dipping her head in greeting, "What brings you here, stranger?" she paused, and took another step into the water, "The water's nice. Not too cool, not to warm."

What she talking about? She didn't know. Everything was useless... Chachili felt airheaded, and spoke without reason.

"Just taking a morning walk," Blanc said calmly turning his gaze back to the female. "I usually don't see anyone on my morning walks. It's a surprise."

Blanc laughed lightly. "But I suppose I did start a little late this morning."

Blanc placed a hoove into the water, but didn't go in further. He wasn't a fan on getting too deep. He was fine basking in the sun's light.

Chachili hesitated. The stranger was so... calm. He wasn't really the loud, boisterous type that Jani had been, nor did he seem to be someone that would bounce around and flirt with random strangers.

He seemed... nice. The grey klipspringer slipped her body deeper in the water, feeling it's flow pull gently against her legs. Everytime she moved, she made ripples... and soon she was chest deep in the waterhole.

Everything seemed so calming. The water, the silence of the savannah in the morning, and the pleasant stranger pulling up for a morning stroll. She felt more at peace now. Her muscles relaxed.

"So," she said, calling out to Blanc from the water, "Are you from around here? My name is Chachili, by the way. I really can't believe I'm seeing another klipspringer about."

Blancun took another step into the water and got a quick drink.

"I'm not really from anywhere. I don't remember anyways though my sister probably does..." He said unsurly.

He paused for a quick second. "It's nice to meet you, Chachili. I'm called Blancun," he said calmly with a cheerful note to his voice.

"Not really from anywhere?" she asked, ears perked up and alert, "Why, that's a strange place to come from, I must say. I myself originate from the old Mountain Herd, although, as you may have heard, that herd has long split. Lion attack, it was," she pushed the memories back, "But now the High Grass is my home. Named for it's long grasses, the High Grass is."

She nodded, quite proud of the location of her home. Aaah, the High Grass. How she loved that place.

"Though, to not remember where you came from..." she paused, and suggested something, "Maybe you came from a herd? Many klipspringers our age came from herds, really. That was when our species were plentiful around here."

She waded in to the shallows to get closer to the stranger, Blanc. Then she wouldn't have to shout to have a conversation.

"It must be horrible. To have been born without a herd, and no knowledge of one."

Blanc smiled and sat down. "I was only a small fawn," he said. "But then, I chose not to remember, so I don't, unlike my sister who dwells on the past."

"Horrible?" He asked lightly. "Why do you say that? Very few things are horrible. Just misunderstood."

Blanc was an optomist. He saw the bright side of everything. It was hard to find something that he couldn't look on the brightside to. And if he couldn't... he'd find something that made it seem better.

Chachili opened her mouth to reply, and then stopped.

Very few things are horrible. Just misunderstood.

She wasn't sure if Blanc knew of her situation, but that sentence just... meant a lot to her. Very few things are horrible, but many things are misunderstood. Maybe everything she'd been through was just a big misunderstanding. Just maybe.

"I... I see," she said, with a calm smile, "That's true. You have a point there, Mr Blanc. And not... not to remember. I suppose that's alright. I suppose that's the way to go."

Maybe she could choose to forget some things in her life.
With a sigh, she waded into the shallows and climbed from the water, shaking droplets of water from her coat as she went.

"Although herds are important."

PostPosted: Sat Feb 03, 2007 8:11 pm

"Not always. Remembering things, even if they are painful. That's good to. That's when you learn to bear it and get stronger," he said.

He probably didn't make sense anymore, but he didn't mind.

"Although herds are important."

"Indeed they are," he said. "I don't know much about herds though. My sister and I are searching to join one. I don't want her to wander anymore..."

He was worried more for his sister's health. After all, his sister couldn't take the heat like he did, since it attracted to her coat and repealed off of his.

Chachili lowered her gaze. She didn't want to talk about pain, or strength. Not anymore. Instead, she focused on Blanc... his talk of searching, searching for something.
A herd.
And herds were important.

Her eyes lit up. How nice it would be for her girls to grow up in herd life. To rewind the past, to start over. To gather klipspringers from all walks of life, and to start anew. Then, she could live with herself. And she'd be surrounded by herdmates. Something like that would be... would be... perfect. A santuary. A paradise.

"Makucha," she breathed, "Makucha, Blanc. Why search for a herd, I ask, when you can gather one up together?"

Maybe this could be a turning point in her life. Just maybe.

"Gather a herd... I've never thought about it. I mean... I couldn't usualy think about things like that with my sister... She's... stubborn..." He chuckled at the thought of his sister.

He brought her up to much...

Chachili grinned. Suddenly, her old self seemed to shine through.

"Stubborn, eh?" she gave a snort, "Sounds like myself, in a way. Except somehow, when I think an idea is a good one, I try to act on it."

A herd. Maybe she could start one, with the help of her daughters. In fact, the idea was very interesting indeed. She approached Blanc thoughtfully, sizing him up. He was fit, and seemed wise. Maybe the help she needed to act upon the idea of a herd was within him.

"Blanc," she started, "This could work. You want a herd for your sister, and me for my daughters and for myself. How about letting klipspringers just... gather?" her eyes lit up, "I know we've only just met, but I sense it's the right thing to do."

And this time, she didn't doubt her senses. Like Blanc, she held the gift of Sight, and this time, the figures and voices in her mind were egging her on, telling her it was right.
