Which do you like better? Discuss.

I prefer the manga. The anime is geared towards kids, and you can tell from some of the additions to it. Plus, the cases are harder to solve in the manga (although that's probably because a lot of it centers around Japanese culture, especially katakana/hiragana/kanji).

Anime-wise, though. The Japanese is MUCH better than the dub. Even if the names were left intact, Conan's dubbed voice makes me flinch.

lmao I think the same way about the English dub xd . I cringed when I first saw the anime on YTV(Canada). I liked the idea about letting Conan's thoughts be voiced by his original self though.
Anyways, I agree with you about the choice of which you prefer. The manga also stuck to the storyline much more. Every volume had something to add to the character development or to the actual storyline of looking for the Black Organization. The anime had too many filler episodes and I hate it when they animated the manga chapters and they mixed everything up (the earliest example would be episodes 4 and 5, notice that they switched the stories around and made it so the guys on the train were not the Black Organization members?).

Unfortunately, I have a sister who wants to watch everything in English... Good thing I don't usually watch anime around her.

I mostly agree on the fillers, but I did like the Valentine's Day episode. Ran gave Shinichi chocolate!

The mixing up of episodes compared to the manga bugs me, though.

Yeah the English is horrible. lol I just had an idea for a episode she should watch. Try to look for Detective Conan in Arabic on youtube. Believe it or not it is there!
The Valentines day one was done at the appropriate time on it's original release, but it was in the middle of summer when I saw it so it didn't have much of an impact. Also, Ran didn't know she gave the chocolate to Shinichi. That kinda made the mood sad(to me anyways).
The only character I liked voiced in English was Jimmy(Shinichi). He wasn't so bad. Everyone else wasn't up to it.

I actually thought the same thing! lol
It was like there was only one professional voice actor in the whole cast and everyone else were novices. That made the English look bad too I think. It makes it seems like they could only afford to get one professional actor and that was it.

Yeah that's almost as bad as having all novice voice actors.
