Robotics Factory

A large, warehouse-esque building leans against the outer surface of Aekea's wall, just north of Customs. While Customs is the only official entrance to the city, there is a door that leads from the inside of the factory to the inside of Aekea.

Inside is a mess of heavy machines and convery belts, manned by bots, for bots. The bots will ignore any intruders, unless the intruders get in the way; in that case, the bots will ask the intruders to nicely get out of the way.

Alm entered the Robotics Factory, a chill wind creeping up his robes, "It's a bit cold today...Let's not waste time." He waved for Anji to follow again, waiting for the man to catch up.

Anji had already caught up quickly, and was busy poking a nearby robot out of bemusement, having only seen such things on rare occasions. "Why are why here?" came the sudden question, surprisingly clear for Anji. It would seem Anji, while messed up in the head, still held a bit of curiosity in him...

"We need only to pass through here, to get to the shantytowns. There we will find what I need...and perhaps your creepy friend," Alm answered as he began walking towards the southwest to the Aekea Customs.

Anji sighed softly as he stared into space. He didn't really get what the other man meant, but if it meant a chance to hang out with his new friend it was all good! And heck, there was always the chance they would run into the creepy guy along the way! "Right!" he said as he trailed along behind, kind of like a puppy who just followed wherever someone went...

It's a little lonely, no people to talk to... His head drooped a little as he continued forth through the robotics factory yet again. Though the prospect of robots were interesting, Alm had other things to do and decided not to stop.

Almost thereAlm wouldn't even bother taking a second look at the facility, worried he might get distracted from his mission. He was determined to find out how useful these little marbles could be. With cheerful thoughts of explosions in his mind, Alm returned to the institute.

The clouds broke their thick cover over Aekea, and with it the pale, silvery light of the moon shone down over the developing city.

It seemed especially large and full tonight. The light of the moon was almost bright enough to read by, if you had sharp eyes. All in all, a strange occurance, but not too strange considering the land of Gaia's usual occurances.

And with the pale moonlight, he appeared. First just a smile that seemed to mirror the cresent moon, shining with a silver light of its own. Then the eyes, large and bright. Soon, the rest of him started to form. Lithe, short, clothed in nothing. He wasn't human, his skin seemed to be made of some strange, inky blackness. Vaguely humanoid, he was still lacking obvious parts. Like toes. His feet just one solid mass.

No hair on his head, nothing at all on his head but those pale eyes, and that crescent smile. The eyes darted left and right, taking in the surroundings of the robotics factory he found himself within.

The smile widened just a little more, as he started stalking through the empty complex.

It was night, and the chaos that ensued at the city center was over for now. The enormous office building was abandoned, with a giant robotic carcass in front of it. Xallen hadn't been injured yet, and on a hunch he headed to this place in search of another marble. He hoped a puzzle lay in store for him, because he wasn't sure he had the time for an epic battle. Even aliens need their sleep.

Things at the factory were quiet. Too quiet as they say. Not a single sound. No bugs, no machines. Not even the wind. No lights were on inside, only the moonlight served to light the way. Everything seemed to appear grey and black in the night, the clouds were still hanging overhead, even if they stopped covering the moon, giving the sky a gloomy haze.

((This looks WAY too much like Broken City for my taste. I will not be happy if it's another furnace monster. XD Bad omens.))

Xallen approached the door to the warehouse and softly opened it. Hopefully it'd open silently. There was no sound around him, so he focused on a sense most people neglected: scent. While his sense of smell wasn't too strong, it was accurate. If there were any weird smells, he'd likely be able to get a good idea of what was going on. His eyes were also carefully examining every inch of darkness, for any signs of disturbance.

(( Like I would do the same thing twice. ))

The door opened without a sound. Not even a faint sound. And as he opened it, the smell of the factories would assault him. Oils, fire, burnt metal, all the other scents that once associates with industrial life.

Inside, the moonlight peered it from the door, illuminating an area about 10 feet in at most from the doorway to make out anything. Beyond that, it was pitch black.

Pale eyes peered at him from the darkness. He couldn't be seen, he was certain of that. But the man, framed in the light of the doorway, was like a beacon. The smile was plastered on its face, as it could feel the marble upon him. Slowly he padded from behind a crate, keeping to the inky darkness where he was certain he was invisible.

Even as he walked, there was no sound. It seemed everything in and around the factory was dead still.

((THANK GOD. XD))

Xallen, still on alert, now focused his attention to the walls near the door. He was looking specifically for a light switch. Eventually he found some sort of switch on the wall, which he immediately activated, hoping he would get lucky. Additionally, his right hand picked up a rock the size of his fist which lay near the door. Xallen chose, probably wisely, not to move forward any further in the dark. He'd make his opponent come into his vision first. However, his senses told him there should be a marble nearby.

((Note that Marble Senses only work if you can sense whatever has the marble. Meaning unless you have Telepathy or something, only if you can see, hear, smell, touch, or taste something. wink ))

The lights flicked on, one after another, bathing the factory in unnatural florescent light. Machinary, crates, assembly lines, all of it was revealed in that moment he flicked the switch.

But it was only a moment. And during that moment, he might have been lucky enough to catch a glimpse of that black colored creature with the silver smile. Because as soon as the lights flicked on, darkness descended again, just as the creature snapped his fingers on his right hand, and still, not a single sound, even as he snapped his fingers.

Thick, pitch black darkness, couldn't even make out your nose if you tried darkness. Even the moonlight seemed to be dead now...

And still, everything was silent.

((Note to anyone else that comes. There is a globe of darkness, about 2 feet in diameter, centered over his head. So the factory is still lit up. You can see the creature. You can see Xallen. Just Xallen would be having trouble seeing unless he has some way to dodge/counter.))

Oh, it wasn't marble senses that told him this. It was his supernatural senses, which were fused with logic. Bad feelings accompanied marbles, and this was the worst omen so far. He still had no idea where this marble was, assuming the creature had no scent. He saw something for an instant, and his memory immediately recorded the image giving him a rough approximation of his location. Xallen's hand fell to his side. He then took three steps back, leaving the factory entirely, flexed his arm, pulling the rock he held in that right arm in, and then shot the rock exactly where his memory told him the creature should be. Since he backed out of the door, the thing would only have one direction to move as well, giving Xallen an increased chance of hitting the thing if it advanced. Thank the stars for having a hard-drive.

((EDIT: So basically anyone more than 2 feet away can see the creature completely, and anyone closer than that cannot see the creature?))
