So I was thinking... In my posting format I have "I'm a christian, conservative, furry, lolita... FEAR ME!" By this I ment that I'm such a mix of clashing hobbies/likes that I'm rather odd and maybe something to be feared by those who don't understand what I am.
Now 3 of the 4 have negative connotations. (Oh, and I wear them as a badge of honor, baby!)
1: I'm christian. Meaning I'm a prudish 'jesus freak' and I run around telling other's what to believe while thumping my bible.
2: I'm a conservative. Meaning I'm evil and want to run homeless black children over in my earth polluting SUV
3: I'm a furry, meaning I want to dress up in animal costumes and 'yiff' anything I see cause I'm a pervert.
for the record, I don't do ANY of those things, but it's the 'popular' belief of many who aren't in the 'fan club' so to speak.
So what, if any, are the negative connotations of being a lolita? What do you think/know people, who don't understand it, think of our hobby/lifestyle?

♥ Well, I am Lolita and proud of that. But I do not "shout it out loud" for everyone to hear. It gives them a bad impression that I am just dying for attention or just full of myself. |=

well...i've heard that some people see lolita as having to do with porn and stuff like that. in my opinion, those people need to be slapped in the face with a halibut <.<
on the other hand, people that i've run into sometimes just think it's ridicules. but hey. what can you do. i'm perfectly happy being a lolita biggrin

people think i do drugs b/c in not one of those normal jean and tee shirt wearing white kids. people think (or though) i was a lezbo b/c i dont hang out with girls. i have tattos and people say im going to hell. what esle is there?
i wore my meta dress today and people though i was dutch. wtf?!?my co-workers said i didnt look 18 wich i think ROCKS. if i can wear lolita and look young and i can wear (cyber, punk, strange, i do it all) and look my age or older i think that rocks!
the thing is just dont give a care, and look good while doing it.

Well mostly people stare at me and stuff, but I don't think it's given me a bad reputation or anything. O-o; Honestly, I just ignore those people. They aren't worth my time and there's really nothing you can do to change their minds. confused Most people like that are to stubborn to admit they're wrong, and anything different is pure evil to them. xD;

what i dont like about being so obsessed with the sweet lolita fashion is that i also am obsessed with the cyber goth fashion. and people think im a pouser because one day sweet and innocent lolita the next, all gothed up.... stare (and no im not going to combine the two) i just cant decide which i like better! gonk
oh and what i dont like when i dress lolita is that people always think im in costume and im like no... rolleyes

Yeah... It sucks when you like so many contradicting things that people automatically assume you're just following any kind of trend for attention or whatever. I have my dark/light sides too!

I persoanly do something diffrent every day. I get stared at frequently, but I also have many, many complements. So just take the good with the bad, you know?
