Story

Five dragons have risen up from the ranks of their kind, each with his or her own mad desire for power. These five were once the leaders of their individual clans, the green, black, brown, red, and blue. One of them, greater than the rest, has taken command of them, and is leading them on a crusade to overthrow the high council of dragons. The tearing point that broke them apart from the rest of the dragons was the alliance with the humans. They felt that the humans were a burden, and should be separated from the dragons’ laws and protections. Recently they have made themselves comfortable within strongholds around the world, often as not they're subjugating ‘lesser beings’ through the use of dark magic that is forbidden by draconic law. The council has decided to allow any who desire to aid them in their plight to do so, and are even willing o grant them provisional rights under draconic law. A call has gone out to all the peoples of the world that any who desire to fight these five traitorous dragons should come to the High Council's chambers in the Vale of Dragons. The High Chancellor Xintar'Nul awaits their arrival so he can inform them of their task, and give them all the information the council has on the situation.

Primary Races

Humans: The humans have been allied with dragons for many millennia, and are deeply bonded to them in many ways. There are even those who share a magical connection with a dragon, giving them great power. This power comes at a cost, however. Bondmates share everything, even life. If one of the two dies, so does the other. What one feels, the other feels in unison. The magic that a dragon can wield is still restricted to the dragon, but the bonded partner can use spells much more powerful than normally possible by their race, given the proper training. The bonded partner will also gain incresed speed and agility, but not to an extreme. They only gain about twice what their normal racial abilities allow.

Dragons: The dragons are an ancient race, given life in time before time. Now their survival is threatened by the mad desires of seven of their own kin. Dragons are intertwined with magic in such a way that they have unequaled skill, but cannot consciously use it. When the need arises they can do incredible things, though. One of the few things dragons can do consciously with magic is breathe fire. The other is disguise themselves as members of another race.

Half Dragons: Any race can be half dragon, granted the proper circumstances. Half-Dragons have the racial abilities of both races to which they belong, but logically can only use them half as well as a full-blooded member of those races could.

Elves: Elves have many factions and forms, Drow, Wood elves, Dark Elves, Night Elves, Moon Elves, and many others exist in their own homes across the land. Elves specialize in the use of light weaponry, but usually prefer magic to steel in combat. All elves love song and dance, and share a love of nature in any form. They tend to be reclusive, only emerging into the world at great need, or on their own desires.

Half Elves: Any race can be half elf, just as they can be half dragon. Though usually half elves are half human, half elf. They have the traits of both races of which they are members, but logically can only use them half as well as a full-blooded member of those races could.

Orcs: Typically the orcs are not seen among civilized people, though there are exceptions to this. On occasion an orc will be more inclined towards the civilized ways of other races. Orcs are a warrior race, proficient in the use of heavy armor and weaponry, and especially tough customers in almost any fight. They tend to be slower than most other races, but this is due to their sheer size. They tend to be between six and eight feet tall, and weigh in between 200 and 320 pounds, most of which is muscle.

Minor Races: There are many races of creatures as yet unmentioned or undiscovered. Many of these creatures are of near-human intelligence, or even far outstrip that of humans (The elves, for example, exceed the scope of human intelligence). Many races are seen throughout the land, but disregarded due to their rare appearances, or their association with hallucination. They are however, just as real as any other race.

Breeds of dragon:
Each breed of dragon has it's own racial abilities, in which it is much more skilled than in other areas. Most other areas of skill that breed is less proficient in than normal.

Red - Typically associated with fire/heat
Blue - Typically associated with ice/water
Green - Typically associated with wind/poison
White - Typically associated with the divine/healing and Light
Black - Typically associated with necromancy and darkness
Brown - Typically associated with earth/stone
Gold - Gold dragons are capable of using the skills of any other breed of dragon besides silver, but only to a lesser extent than that of the original breed. Gold dragons are always female.
Silver - Silver dragons are capable of using the skills of any other breed of dragon besides gold, but only to a lesser extent than that of the original breed. Silver dragons are always male.

Silver and Gold dragons/half dragons will require approval via PM before you join. I don't want too many of them running around wink

A note on magic

Magic can be strong when used by any race, but bear in mind this one rule: Whatever you do with magic will cost you just as much energy as if you did it yourself. By this rule, healing a potentially fatal injury could kill your character if they aren't strong enough physically to withstand that kind of strain. I will not be allowing overuse of magic, as it can lead to bad things. If a person is abusing it, their character will I repeat will be killed off.

Profile

New profiles should be sent to me via PM for approval before you start posting, though I cannot see myself turning anyone down wink

Xintar'Nul: High Chancellor of the Council of Dragons, Silver, Male
Kireen: Daughter of Xintar'Nul, Gold, Female
Kiklai: Captain of the guard of the dragon council, Red, Male
Maristara: Ex-leader of the greens, Female

/************************************************************/

Username: reiyo_oki (reiyo_oki2 as well)
Name: Xirai
Age: 300
Gender: Male
Race: Half Dragon (White)
Height: Approx. 5'7"
General Appearance: Xirai doesn't bother disguising his draconic blood, he always walks around in half dragon form, wings and tail out. His only clothing is a black robe designed to allow his wings to protrude from the back.
Specific Appearance: Xirai has two tatoos, one on each arm. Golden dragons wrapping around his forearms, their heads resting upon the backs of his hands.
Leaning (Good/Evil): Good
Job/Class: Adopted Heir of Xintar'Nul, and guardian of the Council
Weapon(s): Xirai carries a single weapon, a twin-bladed sword forged in dragonfire. The blades are 30 inches long each, with the center hilt being 18 inches in length. The weapon is wielded as a staff.
Special Abilities: Xirai can create a weapon out of pure holy energy when the need is great enough. Though he has only actually done this a couple times in his life, the weapon is, nonetheless, very deadly, as it is capable of cleaving many normal weapons or armors with little effort.
Bio: Xirai's parents abandoned him shortly after his birth, in order to live without the "burden" of childrearing. He managed to survive for a few days alone in their home, before he was discovered by Xintar'Nul. At that time, Xintar'Nul was searching for an heir to his position as High Chancellor. Seeing as the position could not be granted to his daughter, he decided to raise the young half-dragon as his own son, and name Xirai as his heir. Xirai was granted the finest tutors and trainers the High Chancellor could provide, and eventually grew to be the most trusted of the warriors who guard the Council.

/************************************************************/

Username: Masurao Kushin
Name: Kushin
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Race: Human
General Appearance: Kushin is a human of above average build though not muscular. He wears a black tunic top with chain mail underneath and black slacks tied with a sash dyed with blood. Attached to the belt is a pouch usually filled with spell stones. Over it all he wears a cloak, with the hood over his head most of the time. Specific Appearance: His cloak is woven with intricate gold designs around the edges.
Leaning (good/evil): Neutral (mercernary type)
Job/Class: Fighter / Spellcaster (using spell stones)
Weapon(s): A large sword, with a gem embedded handle. The gems in the handle are some of his most powerful spell stones.
Special Abilities: Kushin has the ability to change into a half-demon fighting form. He knows little about how he is able to do it, though he believes it is due to the fact that he is of demon descent. He is unskilled with this form and may not be able to control it or maintain the form for long periods of time.
Bio: Kushin was passed from fighting school to fighting school as he never was good at following rules or taking orders. He was eventually taken in by a master or armory, who taught he knows of fighting techiniques and weapon crafting. At age 17, he crafted his blade, which he carries to this day. He hardly knew his parents, as he has young when he was first sent away. He had one sister that he knew of, but was forced to kill her when he accepted a contract put out against her. Though he may be a mercenary, he has a noble spirit and will usually do the right thing, unless a contract forces him to do otherwise.

Username: Merrihop
Name: Caprice
Age: Early to mid 20's
Gender: Female
Race: Human-Feline
General Appearance: A rather short, and slightly built woman. She doesn't seem very aware of her appearance, but by some standards she is considered cute.
Specific Appearance: Standing at five foot nothing, Caprice isn't a very intimidating figure. However, her long flag of bright pink hair, feline ears and fluffy calico-furred tail tend to make her a bit conspicuous. These features are often hidden under her deep purple cloak, which she prefers to wear when in towns or around large groups of people. The hood is worn up to cover her ears, unless she is among friends or travelling alone. Without the cloak, she is afraid she'll attract too much attention with her strange appearance. Under the cloak she tends to wear a pair of men's pants and a loose sleeved swordsman's shirt. She sometimes opts for a skirt when in town, but her wardrobe is currently very limited.
Leaning (good/evil): Good
Job/Class: Primarily a bard, but if that doesn't pay off, she'll do odd jobs. Her preferred line of work, though, is still performing, especially for children.
Weapon(s): She carries a dagger hidden in her cloak, but she's learning to fight with the staff, as she has litle fighting experience, but she seems to be a quick study.
Special Abilities: Mostly feline in nature, she has very good hearing and eyesight. Her natural balance lends itself easily to acrobatics, but she hasn't quite mastered the art just yet. She is, however, an excellent climber and rather quick, though her clumsy moments can be truly spectacular. She prefers not to dwell on those, as they can be very embarassing.
Bio: Born to a human man and his fully feline lover, Caprice was brought up with as much love as any child deserves. However, her village was attacked by raiders when she was a teenager, and she found herself separated from her family. Her father was never found, but her mother lost her life in the attack. It was a very hard loss for Caprice, so she left what was left of her village and took to wandering. She has spent the better part of six years travelling in the countryside, usually alone, but taking up with travelling troupes of mummers on occasion. This was where she learned her performing arts, singing, acting, storytelling, and her basic tumbling. She never stayed long enough to perfect the acrobatics, despite being naturally inclined toward it, but she did finely tune her skills as a bard.
During her travels, she always kept an eye out for her father, but she never found him. She assumes he must have died, but never found any proof. Spending most of her time alone during her travels, she mostly just focused on getting by. This is sometimes made more difficult because of her distinct features. They serve her well in gaining attention for a performance, but afterward, it's hard to blend into a crowd. She doesn't admit it, but it sometimes bothers her to stand out so much, as her feline features occasionally gain her some unwanted attention, often from drunken men with nothing to do. She's learned to deal with this, however, and tries to make a living with her talent as a storyteller, or working odd jobs when necessary.
This routine took a turn one day when she came to a town and met a half-dragon named Xirai. It was through Xirai and the human Kushin that Caprice came to be involved in the conflict between the dragons. With these two friends, she is learning to fight, and hoping to be of some help. She is still unsure of what the future may hold, but it is looking distinctly up for her.

What has happened so far...

Quote:

Slowly looking around the chamber of the High Council, Xirai Scala, or Dragon Guardian in his tongue, thought aloud to himself, not realizing that the council were, in fact, there watching him. "I hope they arrive soon, I was led to believe that they would be here waiting for me..."

"We are here, young one. State your business or begone."

Xirai jumped at the sound of the voice seeming to come out of nowhere. Looking around, he tried to locate the source of the sound, but could not, as it seemed to come from everywhere. "Show yourselves, council members. Why should I be a threat, when I protect you with my life?" He didn't raise his voice, and he didn't sound irritated. It was merely a question and a request.

With agonizing slowness, a single dragon appeared before Xirai on the high chancellor's dais. An ancient silver dragon whom Xirai knew very well indeed. "Hello, father." He said as the dragon became visible. Xintar'Nul was not his birth father, but he was the only real parent Xirai had ever known. "Hello, son. I'm glad you chose to come, we are in desperate need of all the help we can get in this matter." The silver's scales glittered like stars in a moonlit sky as he shifted his bulk on the dais. "The five traitors have taken a foothold, and we must dislodge them. I won't say more now though, we should wait for any others who might arrive soon. I can sense the mind of someone very different from our people... a female... but she may not come. I do not know her intentions." Looking up at the ancient dragon, Xirai smiled. "Very well. I will content myself to wait. I hope others arrive soon so we can end this strife sooner, rather than later."

After waiting for a time, Xirai left the hall of the council alone, though he didn't stay alone for long. As he was passing through the town, he stopped to watch an entertainer who had set up a small stage. The girl's name was Caprice. He kindly showed her to the inn, and got her a room and meal. After a conversation with Caprice, she consented to join Xirai on his journey. Upon leaving the inn, the pair was attacked by a mercenary named Kushin. A brief conflict between them ensued, but was interruped by another assassin, a dwarf this time. Kushin struck him down, and then heard their story. Though he didn't believe it at first, a few more minutes was sufficient to convince him of the truth, and he too joined their cause.

After this, the small group set out to their first target, the ex-leader of the Green dragons, Maristara. Her lair was hidden in a mountainrange not far off, but it still required them to camp a couple of times before they could reach it. On the first night they were attacked by a group of Wraith, some particularly deadly creatures fond of causing pain wherever possible. On the second day, something strange happened, a long forgotten power took hold of Kushin, and forced him to attack Xirai. The power was that of the Obsidian Dragon, an ancient and powerful being capable of unimaginable destruction. Though the contact was slight, Kushin still had the upper hand in the battle until he managed to fight off the influence of the Obsidian Dragon.

After that, things went quite smoothly until they reached Maristara's lair. Kushin and Xirai taught Caprice how to fight, or the basics at least, and someone else from Xirai's past showed up, his half-sister Kireen. She only stayed with the group for a short time, but it was obvious she loved Xirai as more than a brother.

Once the group reached Maristara's lair the battle began. She used her influence over the monks she had enslaved with her magic to attack them first, until they were dealt with in rapid succession. Then she herself bore down on them with her full strength. Though she broke past Xirai and Caprice with little effort, Kushin proved to be a greater problem. He was again touched by a forgotten power, this time one that had no name. He became much more powerful, and transformed so he appeared to be half demon. The newfound power was what was needed to turn the tide of the fight. With a combined effort, the three managed to defeat the green dragon, and free the remaining monks from her influence.

Now free of the spell that had been controlling them, the monks felt extremely bad, and offered the group whatever they wanted for their aid. Declining the offer, they headed for the next town, on the other side of the mountains. There they met some friends of Caprice's, a traveling group of entertainers called the Mummers. Xirai agreed to do a performance for the Mummers after a conversation, and sparring match, with the Mummers' leader, Terak. Earlier that night, Xirai had asked Caprice for permission to court her, and received her permission, along with several blushes. Now the group is back in the inn they got rooms at, and are having a discussion with another acquaintance from the past of one of their lives. Manare, an assassin who is friendly with Kushin. She tracked them down, and finally managed to catch up to them in this town.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 01, 2007 11:18 pm

"He's ruthless, so much so that he rarely gets any contracts. Most clients are afraid to deal with him." Kushin turned to Manare. "So, are you gonna join us and help us with the next dragon?"

"Nah, I think I'm gonna stay on the inside and help you from there.' She stood and finished the rest of the bottle of wine, tossing the bottle on the floor. "I gotta report back, and tell them what I found. Don't worry, I'll tell them that I lost track of you around Miristara's hideout. I'll meet ya'll at the Dusty Road Tavern in the town of River Vale." She opened the door and walked out.

Nodding idly, Xirai leaned over and picked up the bottle from the floor. "Alright then. Thank you for the information, ma'am." He wasn't exactly sure where the town she had mentioned was off the top of his head, but he was sure he could find out. Glancing at a window not far from their table, Xirai noticed the sun had sunk halfway to the horizon. "Wow... We've been here a while, haven't we?" Glancing at his companions he grinned. "Think it's about time we headed down to help Terak? I bet he'd appreciate the help getting ready." Looking back at Manare, he grinned. "If you want to see, to put Kushin's words to it, "A dragon prancing around", I'll be performing tonight with the entertainers who showed up in town."
PostPosted: Thu Feb 01, 2007 11:51 pm

Caprice glanced out the window as she saw Xirai do it, then blinked, "You have that right... He'll need a hand, especially if the twins are trying to goof around again..." She glanced at Manare, still al ittle nervous, but calmed down considerably, "Please do, if you would like, come to the performance. It should be very interesting..." She smiled softly. If Xirai felt better about her, it helped her nerves quite a bit. She had learned to trust his instinct about things...

Manare laughed loudly, "Now thats a sight! I'd love to stay and see that, but I can't afford to be seen too much with you, or they might suspect something. I'll have to see that some other time." She waved to the trio and walked off.

Kushin stood silently watching Manare walk away.

Xirai smiled idly as Manare walked away. At least that's one person who thinks I'm just a clown. He thought to himself. "Well then. Shall we go help Terak set up miss?" He asked Caprice with a bow. "Perhaps Kushin will join us and pick himself out a good seat for the show."

Kireen scurried over and pawed at Xirai's leg, then indicated herself.

"Yes, Kireen, you can come too." He chuckled as he looked down at her. "Just try and stay out of trouble, alright?"

Caprice smiled and nodded quietly, "That sounds like a very good idea." She rose from her seat and picked up her bag, then glanced down at Kireen, "Kireen, if you wanted, we could probably get you into the show too. But otherwise, there are some great trees near the wagons you can watch from." She adjusted the hood on her cloak and glanced up at Xirai, "I suppose then we're ready to go. I imagine Terak will want to fill us in on what show we'll be performing anyway..."
PostPosted: Fri Feb 02, 2007 9:25 pm

Kushin seemed bothered. Blackthorn? If they went to him, they must really be desperate. "Anyway, lets get going, I want to get a front row seat." Mostly though, he wanted to stay close incase trouble decided to show up.

Xirai nodded, then looked at Caprice. "Would you like to lead the way?" He asked her cheerily. He picked up his sword from where it leaned against the table, then grinned. "Wouldn't want to leave this where anyone could pick it up and hurt themselves..." He commented idly, then looked back at Caprice, waiting.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 03, 2007 11:16 pm

Caprice nodded softly and smiled, turning to head out the door of the inn and leading the little party down the road toward the edge of town, "I'm not sure what sort of performance Terak has in mind for this evening, but I'm sure it will be something big. If we have guest performers, he really likes to make an impression." She pulled her hood down and shook out her hair once they were clear of the town, strolling into a clearing and waving at some of the troupe members who looked up at their approach.

The main wagon had been set up near the back edge of the clearing, but the sides folded down and made it into a stage, complete with a canopy, a few trapdoors, and plenty of room. It was the troupe's pride and joy, as they had all worked together to design it many years ago.

Terak poked his head out of the trapdoor near the back of the stage, then grinned widely and climbed out with the ease of years of practice, "Hey there! Cappy, is this the other friend you mentioned?" He jumped down from the stage and walked over to offer a handshake to Kushin, "Pleased to meet you, I'm Terak, the troupe leader."

"Name's Kushin, mercenary." he said, not paying attention to Terak's offered handshake. "I'm going to go get a seat, I'll be watching from the front." He turned to Caprice and Xirai, "Break a leg." He walked to a tree near the stage and sat against it.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 04, 2007 6:30 pm

Xirai laughed as Kushin moved away. "I hope I don't... That would be rather bad luck, with what I'm doing tonight..." Noticing the looks he got from Terak and Caprice, he grinned. "I know what he means. I just find it funny." Looking over the stage now, he thought for a moment. That canopy could get damaged... Wouldn't want that... "Say, Is that canopy collapsible? I wouldn't want to cut it to ribbons during my show."

Kireen wandered off as the group reached the performers' stage to look around. She was always quite inquisitive, but careful as well. This time she was interested in how the troupe carried a stage around with them, so she moved about the thing, examining it. She realized that it was the troupe's wagon, after a while, and thought in amazement. Now that is some good thinking!

Terak beamed and nodded, "Yes, we can take it off with no problem. We usually just put it up so we don't have bare posts sticking out of the stage. If we put your bit toward the end, then we can take the canopy off during the show with almost no problem...." Her put a hand to his chin... then grinned, "Actually I can think of just the way to do it! Emi! Kino! New plan!" He turned and shouted toward the twins who were working up near the stage, then abruptly took off toward the stage to give them their new instructions.

Caprice laughed, then shook her head, "Don't mind him... he tends to do that when he gets an idea." She glanced back over at Terak, gesturing with his hands and explaining the plan to the twins, "I guess this means your act will be after the twins... they can be tough to follow..." She glanced back up at Xirai, then smiled brightly, "But from what I've seen, you should do just fine. I think Terak put you toward the end because he plans on finishing out the show on a high note." She grinned brightly, swishing her tail softly behind her. She knew Xirai would do fine, and so would everyone else, but she hadn't yet been told what Terak might want her to do for the performance..
