~Skies of Kloud~ This is a literate roleplay!!Rules:- again, please be literate No l33t speak. No one liners. I don't care about spelling mistakes that much, it happens. Two or three lines at the min. I don't mind actions in the ** form but when talking out of character, please use the (()) - follow the normal gaian rules please- romance/fighting is allowed PG-13 please. I don't even wanna say "take it to the pms" cause I just don't wanna know... yeck.. Fighting is okay as long as the other is willing to fight back (its a pirate rp, of course fighting is allowed!) - you CAN roleplay when I'm not here Just type a paragraph and go. When sombody visits, they can read up on whats happened and continue from there. I don't have to hold your hand on these things if you truly are a literate rper. I hate doing rules so any other rules I feel necessary to put up there, I'll do so later. Onto the RP! ~Table of Contents~~Rules ~Background ~Story ~Race/Land Description ~Profile setup ~People/Profiles ~Ships

~Background: the world and its people~There is a land called Kloud in which the people there have developed an advanced technology which dominates the skies. Flying machines, big and small are used to travel, trade with other lands, as well as for the people of Kloud's entertainments. The flyings machines also brought along pirates who use the ships to their advantage and attack merchant ships among others. The pirates along with the people of Kloud have rivals, however: The Cirrus, a race of beings that live in castles of ice, hidden amongst the clouds. They are able to withstand high amounts of pressure as well as the frigid air of the sky. They dislike the people of Kloud for their flying machines and their brutal nature, they think that the sky is their territory and it should not be stained. They remain on the brink of war with the people of Kloud but hold themselves back because they wish not to bloody their hands. There is also the Nimbus, a group of people who once came from the Cirrus but were curious of the land. They are a mix of Cirrus and Kloud people. The Cirrus call them the "Fallen Ones" and look at them as Traitors. The people of Nimbus use the flying machines as well as the clouds to their advantage. They travel wherever the rain may take them and they trade often with the people of Kloud. ~Story: so far...~Lately, the people of Cirrus are getting their feathers ruffled over pirates coming from Kloud and decide it is time to fight back. They’ve been sending privateers with flying ships of their own, warships made of flying ice, to combat the pirates. Captain's LogErby This is the current storyline. Scroll down to read what is recently happening. The Barton Chapter-- So Erby and Seba went into a bar. A Cirrus girl fell on top of that bar because Icarus hit her out of the sky with his flying ship. Erby and Seba took her back to their ship and also met several other crew members.
Icarus then crashed into the ship and took the job to repair Erby's ship for the damage he's done. He meets the crew, along with Crest, the Cirrus girl. Erby meanwhile intends to raid Cirrus territory to get some rare minerals for reasons of her own.
Err... Oh, we found out we needed supplies for our ship because alot of the crew was getting hurt. We stopped at a floating city and picked up some supplies there, attracted alot of attention. Just now three Cirrus Man O Wars came after us, we assumed they were looking for Crest (apparently she is the captain's daughter)
Icarus took off in his ship with Crest to distract them. Erby and her crew faught their way away and headed into a thunder cloud, following a Nimbus caravan. Icaruc and Crest crashlanded into a small town where they were cornered and gave themselves up to the Cirrus.
Icarus and Crest got away from the Cirrus by first trying to fight back. A green dragon named Delta came out of nowhere and helped Icarus. Suddenly though a strange man appeared on board and teleported Crest and Icarus off the ship. They remained in his care for a short while. The man's name was Nomar and he is a mage/map maker.
Erby and her crew meanwhile headed into the Nimbus Caravan. Hell broke loose there, the Cirrus captain Striek came crashing in fighting the green dragon. Nimbus don't like Cirrus, and vice versa, so the Nimbus started to attack Striek. He was seriously wounded, and Erby took him in on her ship. The Columbus sailed out of the Nimbus thunder cloud just barely and a message was sent to the ship from Nomar saying that Erby's order of rum was awaiting.
Erby and the crew then met up with Nomar, picked up the rum, and also picked up Crest and Icarus along the way. They headed back into the sky, Crest not knowing her father was onboard locked up in a cell, and suddenly found themselves surrounded by an air fleet of some kind.
One of the main ships landed and the pilot seemed to know Icarus. Trailing behind them was a large Cirrus man o war! To escape this, Nomar did some time thing and flung us into the future.
There we met Lepper, Crest and Icarus' son *shock* and also stopped by the bar Phobos and Deimos. Striek got out of the cell Seba put him in and found Icarus and Crest, revealing to Icarus that Crest is to be betrothed to the Prince of the Cirrus.
The crew goes back to the past, Erby now a happy holder of a jar of dirt as well as a shiney new sword from the future. But *gasp* the Cirrus man o war is still there! A buncha stuff happens that most of it I forget because I've been a lazy a** and havn't updated since God only knows when...
Apparently the jar of dirt Nomar gave Erby (because Erby likes jars of dirt) had the Cirrus minerals she was looking for in it. It's revealed that apparently the minerals are what keep the Cirrus nations afloat in the sky (and the minerals in the jar were from a Cirrus city of Atlantis, now sunken at the bottom of the ocean).
Xkar gets bitten by Seba and becomes a vamp, The Prince and Icarus finally get to talk, the Prince as well as Striek both say they'll let Crest go. However, as the Prince was leaving, Erby was about to shoot him till Icarus went and jumped him, cutting off the Prince's wing and then getting himself stabbed through the chest. He's okay though. *nods*
And sometime in between all this, an old creepy ship came along and inhabited the ship with a buncha zombies. There's now a Cirrus Vampire named Opehlia living on the ship.Nomar decided to reenergize himself by doing some funny dance, thus creating a time rip and almost sucking The Columbus in. The ship was saved, thank God. But it turns out some of the crew members seemed to have dissapeared, including the captain! Nomar and Yescal decided it be best to go look for her by zapping around in time. Currently they've zapped themselves in the middle of 'The Cirrus Persecution of The Vampires', meep! Race/Land Description:Kloud – The people here look like everyday human beings. The area is a sort of medieval type of scenery, aside from the sky machines. Their weaponry includes medieval type weaponry such as swords, lances, daggers, e.t.c. Cirrus – They look like average people except their skin has different tints to it, such as blue, green, orange, e.t.c. They also have small, birdlike wings on their backs which can expand into larger wings. They are able to manipulate water. This explains how they can walk on clouds, or any type of water, and how they build things out of ice. Aside from their hatred of the Kloud people, they are peaceful beings who usually are not prone to fighting and do not use any weapons except their own powers. Nimbus – People who are the result of those who have fallen from the Cirrus and interbred with the people from Kloud. Some still hold the odd tint of their skin; others have kept the small-birdlike wings, however they have lost the ability to use them. They travel between the land of Kloud and Cirrus, usually staying near thunder and rain clouds, for the Cirrus dislike the lightening. Other Races/LandsWisps - Though they aren't all ghosty or any of that, they just appear extremely rarely. They are a very old race that has both lived on the land and in the skies. But mostly in teh skies. They have flying machines of their own, with much of its designs resembling that from Victorian England, with wrought iron and steam power. Their manners and attire somewhat match that as well. By nature, Wisps are peaceful, gracious, polite and somewhat wise. However, every other aspect of behavior such as sarcasm, generosity, and speech tendencies are unique to each individual, much like any other race. They normally live by themselves in either small groups, or in the more likely case alone on their floating steam ships. Even though thousands of miles of cloud and sky seperate them, they are always in touch with each other through a kind of 'dream telepathy.' They send messages to others and while the reciever sleeps, they see the sender's message in their dream. Wisps do not have normal dreams as humans or other beings do, but rather conversations with one another in their sleep. This is what they look like more or less: Wisp guyOther races are welcome. There are other lands as well, but Kloud and Cirrus are the main two. If you want to add any more, tell me and give me a description in a PM. I might come up with my own some other time in the story.

~Profile Setup~ Please post your profile in the forum. You do not need my permission to start, I trust... most off you anyways. If you do not wish to post your profile because you want to make your character secretive, I understand that, but at least PM it to me so I can intertwine your character with the story. I'm not going to post people's profiles while RPing because I am a horrible multitasker, seriously. I'll at least try to fill in people's name on the list of people.
please fill this in:
Profile: Gaian name: Name: Age: Gender: Race: (Kloud, Cirrus, Nimbus, or any other race i.e. vampire, elven, e.t.c.) Appearance: (just a short description, and do not say “looks like avvi”) Job: (pirate, privateer, merchant, royalty, demon hunter, wanderer, e.t.c) Short Bio: (please provide a background if you wish, this is optional if you want us to find out of yourself later) Abilities: (if you are a Cirrus, you have the power to manipulate water. She wears a loose white shirt with a black collar. Her pants are a tight denim with black combat boots. She has a eyepatch on her left eye. Short Bio: Just a pirate looking for a crew, arrgh. She has a small orange pet dragon named Nova that rides on her shoulder like a parrot. He has the ability to change his size. Abilities: Swooning men and getting drunk, woo. Weapons: Cutllass and a flintlock pistol, would a pet dragon count? ---- ---- The Cirrus---- ---- The Nimbus---- Gaian name: Seba-Vader Name: Seba Age: 18 Gender: female Race: Nimbus Appearance: Rather pale, hawk-like wings, spikey blonde hair with purple tips, has fangs, is half vampire, or, 'tainted' as some like to put it. Usually wears a combination of black and tan clothing, always wears sunglasses when outside, a belt that numerous daggers are strapped to, and has a V shaped scar on her left shoulder. Job: assasin for hire, thief (on special occasions) Short Bio: Somewhat quiet until she gets to know people. Her past was mainly filled with training and such. Her sire, the one that bit her, was killed by the Cirrus, so naturally she hates them, as he was her only real 'family'. She mainly just goes from place to place looking for work or a place to stay, being left alone from Cirrus and others, before she ran into Erby. Abilities: She cannot manipulate water at all. Instead, Seba is able to control air pretty well. She is skilled with hand-to-hand combat as well as long distance, mainly using sharp objects that can be thrown or fought with. She also has some magical scrolls that can do some pretty interesting things. Weapons: Throwing knives, needles, and daggers. ---- ---- The Others---- Gaian name: Lepper36 Name: Icarus Evans Age: 18 Gender: Male Race: Human from the land of Daedalus Appearance: Dark brown hair pointed forward, midnight blue eyes, Pale beige skin, Usually wears a set of goggles, along with a faded yellow scarf, a tan shirt, long brown jacket, brown pants with many pockets for tools, maps, and such, and shot boots Job: Adventurer Short Bio: Born and raised, his land had only recently discovered the joy of flight. He himself created a two seated flying machine with a rear facing mount for a rifleman after he went up in a bulging balloon of hot air, only to be shot down by Cirrus Folk. Icarus was named for his longing to fly with the birds, just like in the Greek myth of Icarus and Daedalus. Abilities: He's a tinkerer, a navigator, and a hell of a fighter when need be. He's not exactly the smartest guy, but he's very bright and witty. Weapons: Revolver and a hunter's knife ---- -Gaian name: Fangx610 -Name: Fang Calico -Age: 21 -Gender: M -Race: Lycan -Appearance: Fang is tall and very light. He has a very reflective coat of silver fur, and is extremely broad shouldered. Fang is also built like a tank. He is built all the time, except when he turns into his small puppy for disguise, which he rarely does. -Job: Gunner and Technitian. -Short Bio: Fang's history is a strange and complicated one indeed. His mother, his only idol in his life, was murdered by a lycanthrope hunter. Fang was set loose in the city, running from the hunter that killed his mother. The hunter, who adorned a black trench coat with a white skull, was soon overtaken by Fang, who finally got the best of him when he 17. The trench coat Fang now wears, which had revealed armor paneling and two weapon holsters on the inside, is the same one the hunter who had killed his family had worn. Deep black scratched in the only white spot in the armor show how many lycans that the trench coated man had killed. Deep white scratches in the black panel opposite the white, is how many hunters Fang has killed. One lone mark lines the inside of the jacket, standing for the man who originally wore the trench coat. Shortly after, Fang was captured by the government. He was the only lycan ever captured in captivity. Now, don't get a lycanthrope and a werewolf confused. They are similar, and consider themselves the same most of the time, but lycanthropes can control their forms and change back and forth when they wish. With himself in a crio-tube, a clone was made of Fang. This creature spawned the same physical capacity with Fang, but not the lycanthrope abilities. Sabbat, Fang's clone, had a brief battle with Fang, but decided against it when he found out that he was cloned from him. The two now consider themselves brothers, as Sabbat helped himself and Fang escape the stronghold. Fang is very smart, and can fly many different forms of aircraft; however, he is a terrible driver. As his human form, Fang works as an aircraft engineer and (depending on the role-play) is widely respected as such, until his other form is found. -Abilities: Light Powers -Weapon(s): Fang wields only two types of weapons. His first (and favorite) is his dual bladed scythe. When swung, there are blades on both ends, yet opposite sides, like an 'S'. The other, depending on which ones he brings from home, are two blades that you hold like a nightstick, while the blade extends down your arm. ---- Gaian name: Hazuki-Ginnosuke Name: Augustus Midwater Age: ??? Gender: Male Race: Wisp Appearance: Augustus He should be wearing a top hat instead of a bowler. Job: Wandering Collector of Curious Items Short Bio: I'd rather not say. Abilities: Dream telepathy. (sending mental messages to sleeping people, and being able to see other people’s dreams) Weapon(s): His umbrella and a high-pressure steam gun ---- ---- People who have not returned to the RP in a while or for other reasons are not going to return and have been taken off the list: ---- Gaian name: Jazy C Name: Erika Adena (She's known as Jigsaw) Age: 17 Gender: Female Race: Mage that has lived among Klouds her whole life. Appearance: Jigsaw Job: Pirate Engineer Merchant (Makes and sells technology with pirates) Short Bio: You'll just have to find out. Abilities: Elemental, White, and Black magic Weapon(s): Dagger, Bow and Arrow, Throwing stars ---- Gaian name: Ryu Taiyou Name: Erebus Age: appears to be 35 Gender: Male Race: Dhamphir (Hails from Kloud) Appearance: Appearance Job: Pirate (Black Knight) Short Bio: Erebus' past is one of darkness and anger, He was born before the land of Kloud even became real. He lived in the wilderness, commonly living off drifters that wandered to far into the woods. When wars came to the lands, he would align himself with the largest, causing devestation upon the, what he called, "undeserving to live". The few people that he didn't kill, he fed on. Upon learning of the advanced technology the Humans posessed, Erebus was intrigued, deciding to see if he could lead an exciting life of Piracy. Abilities: Long life, delayed aging, ability to manipulate and conjure fire Weapon(s): Scimitar, dagger ---- Gaian name: Ayjee Name: Sefarim Age: 19 Gender: Female Race: Nimbus Appearance: Sefarim stands about 5"6' with a wiry build. Her hair is dirty blonde and wavy, reaching the small of her back. It is usually worn under a bandana to keep it out of her face. Her eyes are a dark green in color. She retains the wings of a Cirrus, and hers are similar in appearance to a perigrine falcon (white/grey). Her usual outfit consists of loose pants and a shirt with holes for her wings; picked with comfort and mobility stressed over fashion. Job: Mercenary Short Bio: Sefarim's mother and father were both Nimbus, and were partners as mercenaries. They raised all their children to learn fighting arts and ship flying, but only Sefarim showed a real interest in it. She left home 4 months after turning 18 to become a professional mercenary, but has not found much work yet. Her prized posession is the rapier that her family gave her when she left home. Abilities: Cannot control water, but has above average control over winds Weapons: Single edged rapier (though it isnt well known, some rapiers have single or double edges as well as a point) 10 small throwing knives worn on her ankles. ---- Gaian name: mikmak Name: Jinkin Rifaltar (called Jin by friends) Age: 17 Gender: male Race: Kloud Appearance: 5.6 ft tall, wars a brown hat with two googles that he uses when fixing things. Under the hat he has half-long, brown, frizzy hair. He wears a white dirty shirt, big baggy pants which is kept up by two strops that is attached on the front of his pants, and hangs across his chest and over his shoulders, and is attached to the back of his pants. He also wears a big belt with a few tools and bags: -screwdriver -hammer -big knife bag: -nails -screws -coins -some thread Job: engineer Short Bio: His dad was a engineer, and has taught him everything he knows about machines and ships. His mother died in a ship-crash when he was 7 Abilities: has none unless engineering is counted as an abillity Weapon(s): a knife and a hammer Other: in his spare-time he works on a small racing-boat ---- Gaian name: Nitroe Name: Klaus Badlet Age: 21 Gender: Male Race: Kloud Appearance:http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d109/K-Sin/Gaia stuff/TheBlackRaven.jpg Job: pirate Weapon(s): Two Firelock pistols and sharpened blades on his wing polls. ---- Gaian name:Junai Hatsumi Name: Damien Valdergrann Age: 25 Gender: Male Race: Kloud Appearance: ((I sure hope a pic's okay... >.>; Oh, and his hair's not naturally that spikey, it's normally like the second pic.)) Damien (With mask and coat) Damien again (Without mask and coat) Job: Pirate, through and through. Short Bio: Born and raised on a pirate colony, the Pirate life is all he knows. Quiet, calm, and collected are the best words to describe him, except when his ship, crew, or person is in danger. Although his looks are quite intimidating, if you can catch him with his mask off he's normally quite cordial, though his temper is rather short. The mask is used to filter out the thin air of the upper atmosphere, where he tends to explore quite a bit, though he wears it when he's in town, just to scare and intimidate the locals. It's gotten to be his trademark, of sorts. Abilities: None Weapon(s): He carries a dagger in each sleeve of his coat, and also has two flintlock pistols on his belt. ----

~Ships~
The ships in this story look like old 17nth century ships, wooden ones with huge masts and what not. But since they're flying ship, they also have propellors and little thingers that make it fly... use your imagination!!
For people with ships and what not, just tell me or put it in your profile if you have a ship, what it looks like, how big it is, what positions for crew members are on it, e.t.c.
For those who want to be on a ship, you must ask the ship owner first and get their permission. You can apply to more than one position if desired.
The Columbus Captain: Erby First Mate: Seba Helmsman: Navigator(s): Damien Valdergrann, Nomar, ... Engineer(s): Surgeon(s): Seba, Crest, Nomar, ... Gunner(s): Fang, ... Cook(s): Musicians(s): Carpenter(s): randomNPC's ((XD)), ... Crew: - Icarus Evans - randomNPC's - -

There was a slight breeze in the air, chilly, but not too cool as to hug yourself to stay warm. A jacket was needed in this weather, maybe a nice hat, but a jacket would do just fine. The streets of Doplet remained almost ghost-like. It was a bit early in the morning for any market activity. The sun was just barely yawning over the horizon.
Lone footsteps beat along the gravel path, the boots which gave home to the feet of its owner payed no attention to the silence they were breaking. Nor did the owner care that they were the only person awake for several miles. The town of Doplet was small, with very few residents. But the towns-folk were very close, almost family to each other. To each they all had their own duties of the town, all with their own schedules, but many, if not all, were not morning people.
The owner of the boots was not a morning person either, but today she had a particular mission in mind, and she wanted to get a head start on things.
BANG BANG BANG!! "Fer chrissake, Mal! Open the bloody door!! It's me, Erby!! I'm here to pick up Nova..." BANG BANG BANG!! Erby continued to pound on the door of the shop. 'Dinken's Foreign Goods' could barely be made out from the hand-painted sign. "I know you're in there! Wake up, gorramit!!"
BANG BANG BA-- ...The door opened, but only slightly. Out peeked a hunched old man, the white hairs filling his heavy beard made up for what little fur remained on his head. The hairs from his eye-brows hung heavy over his pale blue eyes. A pipe made itself home at the corner of his mouth. A faded red bandana hung around his neck.
"Eeeh.. Erby.. What time is it?" Mal coughed slightly and rubbed his wrinkly eyes, he opened the door further to reveal purple pajamas.
Erby wore a grin from cheek to cheek, her one eye sparkling in anticipation, "It be a quarter past sunrise, now where is my love?" The blue haired girl pushed past the purple pajama-ed old man and made her way into the shop. Shelves, cabinets and bookcases covered the walls, all filled with heavily decorated, colorful, and specifically detailed items. A bell above the door rang as the old man closed it behind the girl and made his way to a small counter, covered in little trinkets. He yawned as he took a seat on a creaky old stool. Erby walked past him, and followed into a door, pushing aside a silk curtain to enter into the other room.
A squeel was heard from the back room, the old man chuckled and placed his elbow on the counter, resting his head in his hand, "So why it ye be wantin to pick him up now? Did ye finish all yer chores?"
Erby pocked a head from out of the back room, "The Columbus."
The man's pale blue eyes lit up, he leaned foward in his chair, "Ya finished it? Ya really...?"
The blue haired girl nodded ferociously and ducked back into the room. More snorts and squeels were heard, followed by a crashing noise and rustling of paper. Mal sat back in his stool, his jaw hanging open, "But Erby, it's only been several moons... how did ya..? ...Can it fly??" The man started to rise again, Erby came out once more and placed a hand on his shoulder. She grinned, a puff of smoke came from around her shoulder and the orange head of a dragon peeked up from behind.
"Well, that's what we're going ta find out today."

The sounds of one of the many War Birds on the Daedalus Expeditionary Air Force Base was heard roaring to life, one of the young pilots seen trying to get the flying machine up and running. The engine of it sputtered, then finally died as black smoke plumed from it. Young Icarus Evans coughed some, waving his hand over his pale face, now covered in soot and grease. Dark blue eyes looked at the machinery, as his hand brushed away at his dark brown hair, pointed forward. He fitted the goggles over his neck, rolling his sleeves back up high to keep his shirt from getting soiled more than it already was. He sighed some, looking over to the man in the cockpit. "No good! Damn thing's choking on something in the Exhaust lines!" He looked around some as he blinked, pulling a wrench from the tool box, loosening up the main exhaust port to check around to see what was clogging up the exhaust port.
"Sergeant Evans!" Lieutenant de Verano walked over towards the two working on the flying airship, the two standing at attention in front of it, saluting. Saluting back, the Lieutenant looked at Icarus, nodding some. "Well, seems that you're being sent up. You're to scout out the skies of Kloud and report to one of our bases hidden amongst the trees somewhere about 450 miles away from the border. Practice extreme caution. There have been reports of a lot of pirates flying around in the area, as well as some of those sky kin we keep hearing about. You can leave as soon as you and your observer are ready."
"Yes sir." Icarus and his observer nodded, then worked on the exhaust once again to clean out the build up.
***
Somewhere in the hills and mountains of Kloud, a young Mage snoozed under the shade of a tree, swinging slowly in a hammock. His dark blackish blue hair blew some in the breeze, his ponytail swinging just over his neck opposing the swinging of the Hammock. His dark red eyes were covered by his eyelids, his gangly form looking like it would slip through the net of the hammock as he slept. A new golden ring was around his finger, somewhat glistening in the specks of sunlight that hit it through the shade of the two large oak trees. He snoozed happily in his robes, his cloak hanging nearby on a low hanging branch.

Walking barefoot in the cool grass, another mage who happened to be wearing an identical golden and gleaming ring was approaching the one in the hammock. Daintily hanging her own cloak next to that of her fiance's, she gingerly hoisted herself up into the hammock when it had slowly swung back to her. Curling up next to him, she was soon asleep as well.
**
A hand slammed down against a wooden table. "You wanna say that again, you filthy specimen of an overly pompous race?!" The hand belonged to that of a Nimbus, the statement directed at a Cirrus. All surrounding chatter in the bar had stopped at that point, and all focus was then on the two. Quickly hiding his shock, the Cirrus stared up at the Nimbus, every bit of her was on fire with anger. He laughed. "Well, my dear, what is it that you could possible do to me? You are just a worm; a cross-breed mutt from two dishonorable pare--" The Cirrus had then found the girl's arm around his neck so he couldn't breathe and his body pinned so that he could not move. "You don't have any of your Cirrus buddies here with you..." She whispered into his ear with a malicious grin. "For a race that depends so heavily on attacking in numbers, I would suggest you keep you mouth shut a little bit more." She squeezed her arm against his neck harder, until his body went limp, and then released him, pushing his motionless body to the floor. "Seba...." The deep voice of the bar tender boomed. With a sigh, the girl made her way over to the bar tender, took a coin out of her pocket, and slid it over to the man. "...The thing isn't dead; just unconscious. Anyways, I'll be leaving now..." The bar tender nodded as she made her way to the door; the chatter picking up again and many of the bar's occupants cheering on her actions. Many of them were Nimbus. Reaching the door, one of Seba's small, falcon-like wings twitched. She put on a pair of sunglasses, and started walking down the street with her hands in her pockets.

The purple sunrise colored sea lapped againt the creaky old ship. A couple of its propellors drifted tiredly with the wind. Mal stood next to the thing with his arms crossed, yawning heavily as he leaned against one of the large wooden poles extending up from the dock.
Nova flicked his tongue in and out from his mouth. He lay on the ships railing, staring boredly at Mal. Suddenly a high pitched WHIIIIIRRRR noise came from below deck, shortly followed by a deep BRRRRRRRR. Erby ran up onto the main deck carrying a huge grin. The ships engines began to soften into a calm HUUMMMMM as the propellors started to turn. Erby clapped her hands together and dashed to lower the sails. Nova jumped up, flapping his wings giddily to help.
Mal was speechless. No black smoke rising from the main deck, no loose propellors flying into the neighbors house. The Columbus had been fixed. It purred in a way it never had before. And suddenly, it started to drift!
Mal shook his head and shouted for Erby.
Erby peeked over at Mal and gave him a cocky smile, "Of course I know it's moving!" Nova squeeked in agreement.
Quickly then, Mal rushed to untie the ropes which kept the ship attatched to the dock. He puffed as he ran from pole to pole. Just as he was to reach the last pole, a snapping was heard. The ship had drifted too far, and the rope was pulling too much. Mal's eyes grew wide as he turned to run to safety. The dock's pole split and dived into the sea, the end of the dock now unbalanced and splintering into peices.
As Erby took the wheel, she looked back and waved to Mal who was hunched over on dry land gasping for breath as the dock collapsed. She cringed alittle and murmured to herself, "....oops." Nova lowered his head and growled.
The ship was drifting along now, calmly gliding across the sea. Erby took a breath and looked up to the sky. She closed her eyes as she pulled a lever back, the propellors turning faster. Nova hid behind her shoulder as the ship's sails filled with air, pellets of water now falling from the ships hull as the Columbus lifted into the sky.

The engine sputtered and smoked, spewing out a bluish-white plume from it's exhaust, the propellers spinning faster and faster, till they vanished in a blur. The flying machine slowly moved forward across the field, Icarus at the controls, his observer sitting behind him. The thing struggled a bit to get off the ground, the landing slides bouncing a bit, soon detaching from the earth, the wood and cloth bird biting into the skies. Climbing gradually, Icarus maneuvered it to circle like a rising Eagle, turning around to look at the shrinking landscape.
"Alright! Looks like the Engine's REALLY purring now!!!" He laughed some, looking back at his observer. "How's the fuel intake back there?"
The man grinned, looking back up at Icarus. "Injecting with half valves open, and this gal still had enough power to lift up!" The two laughed, Icarus steadying the craft, soon heading off towards the designated area.
***
A dark red eye opened, the young mage looking up at the skies at the sounds of a droning engine. Sighing, he closed it, shaking his head some. "I don't believe this... patrolling this early?" He turned to his better half, smiling some. "... I'm just glad they didn't wake you, Yescal..." He gave her a quick peck on the forehead, his arm going around her form, as he soon fell back asleep, not wanting to be bothered right now.

A soft flutter of wings was heard as the Yescal opened her eyes to see her phoenix, Zuuiki, perched on a limb of the tree. She sat up and held her arm out for the bird as it came to her making a soft cooing sound. Sticking out its leg, it revealed a note tied around it.
Dearest Yescal and Nomar, It is with greatest sorrow that I inform you that the Mage of Air, Hermes, has been killed. After being captured by the Cirrus, we received word that that he had been pressed into service, but refused, ending in his death. I beg that you stay as safe as possible during your travels. The Cirrus are after all of us. As is our custom, we are now in search of a new Mage of Air. If you happen upon a being that is deemed capable of becoming the new Mage, please send word to me as soon as possible, and stay with the individual. -High Mage, Odin.
".... Oh dear...." Shaking her head, Yescal turned to Nomar, shaking him gently to wake him, then handing him the note, silently stroking the back of her phoenix as he read it.
**
Xkar, a high ranking commander in the Cirrus fleet, bowed before the Cirrus prince. "Your majesty, the impudent mage has been dispatched, as you instructed. I shall now be taking my fleet southward, toward opposing ships and the towns they belong to." Bowing again, Xkar headed for the door of the throne room to his ship.

"Yo ho, yo ho a pirate's life for me~" Erby hummed quietly to herself as she pulled a few ropes, adjusting the sails of the Columbus. She sighed and rubbed her hand through her blue hair. The air was much colder now, the ship drifted along through a feild of clouds, the islands below looking like tiny specks. Suddenly Nova squeeked and squawked from his position atop the crow's nest. Thunder was heard in the distance. Erby looked ahead at the looming dark clouds and bit her lip. Hurridly, she dashed to grab the ship's wheel and turned it quickly thinking there might be some hope to dodge the storm. "Nova! Hoist the sails! She'll not handle well in heavy winds..." The orange dragon growled and flew quickly to adjust the ropes. Erby watched her pet, then turned her direction toward the oncoming tempest, "...I really need to find a crew." *** "Mmm, yes..." The prince drummed his fingers along his icy throne, "Father will be pleased of our forces actions." He lifted his head and sniffed his nose. His eyes fell over a glass of red wine waiting for him to drink. "It is too bad he does not wish to build our kingdom farther north as I do. I believe our nations will thrive in the colder regions, and our forces will grow stronger."
The prince drew a cold smile across his face as he lifted the thin glass of wine to his lips. He sipped a bit, lowered the glass and looked over his shoulder towards a black winged Cirrus, "I believe once we grow stronger we can then return to our southern kingdoms to defend our territory..." His voice rose and the glass in his hand shook, "...To defend our territory against those wingless ground walkers." The glass began to crack slightly under his fingers, the wine freezing over the top.
"....Mmm, what do you think, Gabriel?"
The black winged cirrus remained quiet, her thick black bangs hanging covering her eyes. A thin smile grew upon her face.
The prince laughed and looked foward again, lifting the glass to drink but stopping as he realized that the wine had frozen. He frowned and threw the glass upon the floor, the peices shattering everywhere.

"Crap... Sarge! We got ourselves a storm coming up from the Southwest!"
Icarus blinked, looking back some at the large darkened clouds. He gritted his teeth, maneuvering his tiny craft higher. "Alright! Keep that thing in your sights! I'm gonna try to gun it!"
His hand went to the small knob on the dashboard, the dial slowly rising as fuel injected into the engine, smoke fuming out of the exhaust as the plane pushed faster. The aircraft moved upwards trying to head up above the clouds, the air biting into his skin. He looked around, thinking he saw something, then ignored it.
***
Wrins looked through his spyglass, blinking some. He looked on at the small form swooping through the realm of the Cirrus, growing more alarmed by the second. Quickly putting it away, flying off towards the palace, muttering "Oh god" every inch of the way, knowing well that the Prince will not be at all pleased to hear that the ground walkers had made something almost as maneuverable as they were. It was bad enough with the airships, now these mechanical birds?
***
Nomar groaned, blinking some as he looked up at her. "... Wha...?" He yawned, quickly taking the paper from Yescal's hands as he quickly skimmed over the paper. His eyes widened, as he slowly lowered the paper.
Hermes had been somewhat of a brother to him, having been taught by the same teacher. They had been through a lot, and Hermes also happened to be the one to introduce him to Yescal in the first place.
"... Hermes... Couldn't be..." His usual happy self seemed to darken for a moment as he fell silent, somewhat somber in the memory of his old friend.

Hands jammed deep in her pockets, Seba walked down the dusty street. She knew that she was in trouble; she just didn't know when it'd catch up to her. Turning a corner, she found herself facing two Cirrus guards. One of them, the bigger of the two, grabbed her arm while the other one, who had glasses, matched the descriptions that had been written down of her. "Yes, she is the one. Miss, we will now be taking you into custody." Stated the spectacled Cirrus. The behemoth Cirrus didn't have time though to put the girl in a state of submission for arrest though. Breaking free of his grasp, she slid a few yards back from the two; her gloves on and the wind churning. True, the Cirrus could fly, but it was a tad difficult if the wind wasn't in their favor... After releasing a strong sphere in their direction, Seba darted off in the opposite one, knowing that there would be more of them and she didn't have much time to hide. <******** Cirrus.... Why can't they leave us alone...?!"
**
"There's not much we can do now, I suppose," Yescal started, "He wouldn't want us to mourn..." Sighing, she looked over at her fiance', "I believe it's time to find ourselves a new Mage... before the Cirrus do..."
