According to the books of RD, Holly is truly computer senile from being left alone for so long. But is he as dumb as he acts?
I think maybe Holly knows exactly what he's doing and saying more times than it seems. I believe that maybe, just maybe, he's having a good jake at the crew's expense because he's so bored. After all, they dn't have anything stimulating or interesting to offer him. So they're fair game for some jokes at his expense.
What do you think- senile, or just extremely clever? (Or a little of both, which is what I think!)

Well, if it is a joke, I've been waiting for the punchline for much to long. Holly's not exactly known for his patience when he's got a good joke ready. Remember what he did to Lister? And of course there was Queeg. I think he really is just as weird as he acts.

Comedic genius! Mind you, hardly surprising bearing in mind both Norman Lovett and Hattie Hayridge started out on the stand up comedy scene.

Maybe Holly didn't bring Lister back because it was safe, and Rimmer to keep Lister safe. I think he brought them back to keep himself sane. He got too warped a sense of humor to keep it all to himself!

I can see that, Holly hasn't always shown a good appreciation for Lister's needs. Like letting him drink all that dogs milk.

Don't forget they did have a food shortage thanks to Cat's people. They like their milk after all.

That's true. It's very interesting how all the food is still fresh after 3 million years.

They had their food in stasis like they did to Cloister the Stupid.

If the food was in stasis, then how did the cats get ahold of it?

OliviaOblivia If the food was in stasis, then how did the cats get ahold of it? Holly was dumb or bored enough to let them have it. As he would or should be able to use the skutters to open things for thy cats.

Holly didn't even really know they were there, because they were so far down in the ship that his range didn't extend. Remember when Lister went looking for Cat and Holly lost communication with him?

Remember when Lister went looking for Cat and Holly lost communication with him? Yes. But, he had to have sensors where the food was. As theft of food on any ship is unforgivable.

I disagree. If he'd had sensors where the food was, he'd have known about the cats, and probably used to skutters to lead some up to himself for some company.

They more then likely would never follow a skutter anyways. As he never said he did not know about them. He did think he should never let him out.

They might have followed the skutters, if Holly adornded them with the sacred gravy marks.
