The foals were growing quickly. It seemed as if only days ago they had emerged from their baskets and now they were roaming about on their own, proclaiming their independance. He had thought that he would mind... That he'd find himself worried about them the longer they spent away from either Kitara's side or his own... But he wasn't. As horrible as it might have been to find himself thinking in such a way, his freedom was returning to him.
Of course, the more time he had alone the more he found himself realizing that being alone wasn't something that he wanted. He wanted to be around the vibrant mare who had somehow managed to find her way past the defenses that he'd set up with his scoundrel-like attitudes. More now than before he wanted her to want him around as well. Spring must have been in the air early...
He wandered around the teepees belonging to the two-leggers that they cared for, dipping his head down to pick up one of the early apples that had been left on the ground. It was a bright green color and it would be a bit tart to the taste... But it would be a treat none the less; a treat that he carried with him as he sought out the mare.

She'd gone for a dip in the river then a run across the plains to dry herself. Somehow she felt more free than she had before. It was like she'd dealt with something and now she could just live how she wanted. Nothing was nagging at her mind and she could enjoy the feeling of the wind whipping though her mane fully.
The little girls that lived with the two-legger were still annoying as ever but they seemed to have developed a better hold on the world. Though their hold seemed to be in the wrong direction but it was a hold none the less. With them more occupied in following the two-leggers around she could actually walk around their camp without worry.
Shaking her head she looked up at the bright blue of the sky and smiled. Winter still had a grip on the land but spring was beginning to fight for a hold.

It was impossible to mistake the movement of the green mare across the plains for anyone else. Those two colors blending on her coat? That copper stream of her hair as she ran? Mon Dieu, he was smitten.
He dropped the apple he'd been holding on the ground between his hooves so that he could whicker a greeting to the green mare. Hopefully she'd be as happy to see him as he was to finally see her again. Sure, they'd brushed against one another in passing while at the two-legger's camp but it had been in passing and passing alone. He wanted time with her. Just her.

She heard his call and turned her head in his direction. Of course it had to be the dark blue stallion. No one else tried get her attention that way. She turned and tilted her head as she looked at him.
She'd still make him come to her but at least she wasn't running away now. She wanted to know what he wanted and she was glad to see him. While the day had been good it had been lacking something.

He lowered his head to pluck the apple from the ground, holding it carefully with his lips to keep from piercing its flesh with his teeth. Prize now in proverbial hand he trotted towards the mare, dropping the apple once more when he was close enough to her. He gave it a gentle nudge with his nose, rolling it towards her hooves. "Brought somethin' for ya, Chere."

She looked down at the apple for a moment before she leaned down to sniff at it. It was one of the early spring ones from the two-leggers. Carefully she bit it in half and was delighted to discover that it was still crisp.
"Stealing food from the two-leggers now?" She chuckled slightly as she spoke.

"Steal? Ah'm hurt, Chere. Ah go an' do somethin' nice an' you accuse me of stealin'." He turned his head away from the mare, eyeing the other half of the apple from the corner of his eye. "Ah ain't steal nothin' from them... But if you ain't careful Ah steal somethin' from you." He was teasing, traces of delicious laughter lingering in his accented tones.

She eyed him for a minuet before leaning down to pick up the other half of the apple and eat it. "It wouldn't be nice to go stealing things from a lady. Specially if you're the one who brought it to her."

He stretched his neck out, brushing his muzzle against hers only to nibble at a small bit of apple that had clung to the corner of her mouth. He nickered softly, "There's only one thing Ah'd steal from you, Chere... An' Ah'd rather it be freely given."

"Now why would i want to go and give you that." She smiled and poked at his shoulder with her nose. "Girl like me should know better than to get into anything with a scoundrel like you."
She shifted and walked around him. "Though i do remember my mother saying i was good at getting myself into trouble"

"Oh, Ah dunno... Maybe 'cause, deep down, you know Ah ain't nearly as much trouble as your Momma'd think Ah was." He nickered once more, stretching out his neck so that he could gently n** at her flank as she walked past him. "Ah think you like trouble, Chere."
He took a step back, shifting on his hooves as he eyed her. "Ah come here tryin' ta be a gentleman. Don't Ah get nothin' in return?"

"Now what ever gave you that impression." She smirked to herself and let her tail swish against one of his legs. "I though i tried to stay out of trouble it just seems to follow me everywhere."
She turned around as he nipped her. Leaning forward she rubbed her nose against his. "Thank you for the apple Remy" She was trying to make the scoundrel loose his cool and stutter for a moment.

"Well... You like me, don'chu, Chere?" His muzzle slid alongside hers, lips brushing against her cheek. "An' you keep on sayin' how much trouble Ah am..." Two could play the game she'd started.
He'd played it before, of course, but never like this. Before it had held little more sway than leading the mare into a wild new world... But this time? He wanted to go there too and he'd be damned if he left without her.

"You are trouble and you know you are." She nickered and butted gently against him. He'd been trouble since the moment she met him and she doubted he'd ever stop being trouble.
"You just happen to be the kinda trouble i like."

"Is that so, Chere?" He let his eyes close for a moment, taking a deep breath of that scent that brought everything from the brightly colored flowers of spring to the storms of summer that crackled with electricity to his mind. He could almost feel the static sparking in the air around them now. "Ah'm glad... Ah think Ah could get used ta havin' a river rat around."
