Nzinga was trying to start out her "new life" in a new place with hope and and open mind. She knew she was soon to give birth, and that thought both excited and frightened her. She knew no one here and her typical anti-social behavior was waning.
A new day had begun, and she set off with a hopeful heart and a curious mind, eager to explore her new surroundings and perhaps make some new friends. Something good was sure to come of this.

Paws on the edge of a tiny cliff that led out over the water, Paki was sniffing the clean smelling substance and wrinkling his nose. The large juvenile was glad that he was on the ground rather than IN the water. After all, the water had tried to kill him twice now and Paki wasn't exactly sure as to what he really thought of it at this point other than fear and anger.
Shifting on his elbows and letting his body move back from the edge of the cliff slightly, Paki stood up and all of his fur fell straight. It was rare to find a lion with such long fur, but there he was, the large juvenile male that wouldn't have been able to see past his own bangs even if he hadn't been born blind. Paki had his own problems with his fur, but for the most part he liked how long it was.
Trotting off away from the water to think of other things, like his impending escape, Paki sniffed the air around him delicately to try and figure out who was nearby. ninja

Nzinga decided to use the river as her guiding path, so she would be sure not to get lost. Besides, it was like walking with a friend. Listening to the river's gentle rhythm always gave her comfort. Her golden eyes were wide, taking in all the sights around her. How different and beautiful this new land was. So full of life, so peaceful. She liked it here, but she still felt like an outsider. Deep inside, she terribly wanted to be accepted by the pride members.
Those observant eyes of hers spotted potential nearby. A young boy, a juv perhaps, walking around up ahead. A surge of friendliness came over her, and she picked up her pace a bit, smiling to show her good intent. It was scary to be the initiate of conversation, but Nzinga was tired of a life devoid of interaction. If there was any time for a change, this was it.

Paws sounded off to the side of him and Paki flicked his chocolate ringed ears in that direction. It was heavier, so it was a larger lion but it wasn't heavy enough to be an adult male so that meant it was either an adolescent or an adult female. Playing over all the pride members in his head before the other got close enough for Paki's lungs to intake air and his nose to fill with the scent of female.
Letting a smile spread over his white muzzle, Paki bowed to the female he'd never met and swished his chocolate tail from side to side, his mocha fur that hung before his silvery/blue blind eyes swishing to the side with his movements and his long fur moving as he did so as well.
"Hello?" Paki called out after he stood up and adjusted his extremely long fur back into the place he found it comfortable at. One of these days he'd have to do something about how much fur he had. ninja

Nzinga was a bit confused. The younger male seemed to look right at her and yet not even see her. The fact that he said hello in the form of a question added to the mystery.
The smile on her face drooped a bit as she approached the little male curiously. "Hello," she attempted, not sure what to make of the pale boy's odd actions. "My name is Nzinga, and I'm new to this area..." she drifted off, looking at him with questioning eyes.

He could hear her, that was a plus. It meant that she was a good lioness and that she wouldn't hurt him. At least he didn't THINK she would hurt him, most lions in the area wouldn't at risk of angering the goddess after all.
"Oh you're new? My name's Paki, it's a pleasure to meet you." He said as he trotted forward a bit so that he could feel her presence and tell that she was much bigger than he was. So an adult then.
"What brings you to this pride?" He asked brightly, his chest puffing up as he swished his tail from side to side gently. ninja

Nzinga couldn't help but notice that there was something a little off about this younger lion. He spoke and moved so confidently, yet when he spoke to her, he did not look directly at her. That was...quite strange. But he was quite friendly and polite, so Nzinga decided to let go of his strangeness for now. He had such oddly beautiful eyes..
"Very nice to meet you," the blue lioness returned. "I came here quite by accident, actually. I had been traveling for a long time. Mteuli found me, took me in when I desperately needed food and rest. But I like it here, it is so peaceful and safe. I think there could be no better place to raise my cubs." By now, it should be obvious how pregnant she was.
"Have you lived here all your life?" He looked young enough to have been born into this pride, and Nzinga was curious to learn more about her new home.

"Oh you have cubs with you?" Paki sniffed deeply, attempting to smell them somewhere on her but sadly couldn't find their scent anywhere. He shrugged it off as that they just weren't with her, he did after all smell others on her body so he figured that must be them.
"Well accident or not the whole pride is pretty accepting of others, you should come and meet our queen sometime." He nodded his head brightly, "I'm told she's very pretty and she sounds like she's nice since I can only smell nice lions."
Leaning his head to the side a bit he figured that it was okay to be with this other for a bit. She didn't smell bad and the fact that he could smell her at all told him that she was good.
"I was born here yes, my mother was apparently one of the 'old members' from before. So I hear at least." He smiled at her softly. ninja

Nzinga wasn't quite sure how to answer that question. "Well...yes, I have cubs with me," she said slowly. It was the truth, but perhaps not the whole truth. "Though they haven't yet been born," she added with a hint of joking in her voice.
Could he not see her? Was that it? Nzinga moved experimentally from side to side, waiting to see if his eyes would follow.
"It must be nice to live in a place where you have such a history. Your family has lived here a long time, I gather?" You must feel like you belong here, Nzinga thought to herself. She certainly didn't feel like she belonged here; not yet. Maybe when the cubs were born and they were all a family, then this place would feel more like home.
